Had this one on Slade Alive, on cassette, bought for me by my dad as a replacement for Slade in Flame, lost by my elder brother. I was about 10. Loved Slade as a nipper, still listening and enjoying now, at 55.
Saw Slade live back in the late 70's up in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. During this song, Dave doing his solo at the end, had the hockey rink roof support cables resonating with his notes. He was frigging "playing the building". They had to shut him down fearing the roof would collapse !
Melbourne 1972, at the MCG, pissing down with rain, 50ft from the stage, it was deafening but what a great concert, in their day they were the LOUDEST rock and roll band, its a shame we get old but the memories are still there
Still have the Slade Alive my gran bought me in 1972. Still appears on my turntable (though I cant remember when or why) on a Sunday morning. Must listen to side two first though, because its always side one up.
I seen them in St Louis in early 70$ rocked the house don't even remember who they opened for . I think we paid $15. To see three groups those were the days ! Pot was cheap im 67 now still good memories.
To David Graham, mate your right with the year , however like you said, the old memory is shot to bits and not being a melbournite, who cares where it was held, it was a great concert.
I can't remember the name, it was custom made, I believe Tommy Iommi played one from the same luthier, a longer than standard neck. I wish I could remember the article where I read that.
Definitive cover, Alvin Lee says so and claims he's made more in royalties from the Slade Alive cover than any other version. Slade owned this from the moment they decided to cover it.
Walsall Wolverhampton... Birmingham...etc...it's all midlands...some of the very best bands ..groups have come from this part of England ......So they say!! Mel and knee..33.😉

To David Graham, mate your right with the year , however like you said, the old memory is shot to bits and not being a melbournite, who cares where it was held, it was a great concert.
Your memory is shot to bits. Slade toured Australia in early 73, playing their Melbourne gig at the Royal Melbourne Showgrounds and not the G.
You are spot on, January 1973 at the Showgrounds, it poured with rain but stinking hot 👍
All my youth!! Great!

I can't remember the name, it was custom made, I believe Tommy Iommi played one from the same luthier, a longer than standard neck. I wish I could remember the article where I read that.
