- Oregon Coast salmon fishing in the fall produces some epic bites, a change to catch a chinook and coho, but also the chance to encounter some giant Oregon Coast salmon. On the first salmon fishing trip from the boat, I headed out with the wife for some salmon fishing on the Oregon Coast to chase coho, and potentially run into a chinook. Boy did the big fall salmon show up, including the biggest coho salmon I have ever seen in person, pushing close to 20 pounds. If you have ever thought about going salmon fishing on the Oregon Coast, make sure you bring heavy gear and get ready for a big fight! Plus, I go through the rod, reel, line and flasher setup that we used during today's episode!
And remember, the outdoors is a gift, share it with others 🎣

You two make a great team👍
Thank you! It's a team effort for sure!
Oh man… 20 lbs? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
It was a tank Jason!
Maybe 10 😂
I work with these salmon guiding fly fishing. That was a nice coho! But probably more like 13 lbs!
20lbs ey?
It was a tank! Super thick coho
Hermens Outdoors yeah it is! Solid 12lber maybe!
@@JacksonQDavis1993 haha you didn’t have to do him like that 😂
👍for monster fish
Thanks Rick!
Not even close to 12 pounds buddy
What was the date of this trip?
Nice Coho fun days those estuary coho like those rainbow spotted spoons. I caught a 24lb. off the north tip of Vancouver Island hit like a fright train. I speed up to about 1400 rpm. Then slow down to let line sink straight down with the 12oz. weight as It's deep in the ocean. About 120ft.of line will get it down there. We try to catch 100 a day. The little pink Tomic plugs are awesome as it is the only boat that out fished us ever used those. We use Hotspot Flasher with Needle Fish Hootchies.
A 24lb coho is a beast! I can't imagine the fight with a fish that large. Tight lines Bob!
@@WillyFish I didn't even want to real it in Thought it was a 50lb.Chinook. Settled down after a 1/2 hour.
20lb coho?!!! Neither was no where near 20lbs lmao 🤣
Never a mistake to catch fish in favor of filming, unless your all about filming and not fishing.
I just had my order of ops backwards. Still an amazing day to fight those coho!
20lbs?! You just not catch very many salmon that’s like 10-12lbs max nice fish tho
Sorry guy, but those natives shouldn't be netted or even coming out of the water. Get a shaker hook and release them in the water. By the time they get netted, plopped on the floor of your boat and man-handled, they probably aren't going to survive to spawn. Also ,20 pounds, really?
What bay ?
One on the Oregon Coast...
No shit it says that on the title of your video! Thanks for nothing
@@gscapes1360 I don't give away specific fishing locations, sorry
Looks like a 22#'er to me
