Thanks! We actually got into a 30+ pounder a couple years ago. The key is that you can’t just yard them in like with a double action reel and a heavy rod. Had to play it for about 30 minutes. That said, we are using 40 lb test. We just think this rod/reel combo adds another element of fun to the experience. I highly recommend you try it some time!
Centerpin reels with '10"6 medium rods are routiely used in British Columbia for "Tyee" (30lb+) King salmon and recently more are seen in SE Alaska. Utimate in "sport" fishing - skill needed!
You mean the clicking of the reels? You’re probably on to something because we’ve definitely had to deal with seals before, but that just adds to the excitement lol
Nice going. What’s with the noodle rods and single action reels? Looks like fun, but if you hooked a 30+ pounder, I think you would be outgunned.

Seen you a few times around drift creek launch. I run a small black drift boat with yellow interior normally with my girlfriend. Nice video.
Just gave you a follow! Great video!
Awesome! Thank you!
@@aaron_coyner you’re welcome.
islander reel?
Yep! Good eye.
Your clicker is going to attract seals,, they can hear that very well in the water.

@@aaron_coyner that's true. The damn seals pretty much know what's going on anyway.
Take that $%@?! clicker off! Yikes.
