Hmmm I'd have to think how I'd rank Gaskell! I definitely enjoyed Ruth a lot - I think i need to reread North and South and Mary Barton before I decide.
I enjoyed And Then There were none. I think I gave it a 3⭐️. The Lady de Berg book sounds great. I like the thought of Darcy on the spectrum. My hubby is and I can actually see that drawn in out the Darcy character…interesting idea. There is lots of cussing in Hillbilly Elegy and I ended up DNFing so go in knowing that. I was liking the biography part, but I had enough after a while. Great wrapup. 💖
Yes, when I saw the author had made Darcy's son autistic, I felt like it made perfect sense, given Darcy's inability to cope socially at times. Yeah I've heard that about Hillbilly Elegy. We'll see!
Great wrap up for August!! Congratulations on your one year anniversary 📖📚📝!! I hope your school year is off to a good start 🌻 I read Autumn By The Sea, Sister's Of Sea View, and listened to The Hiding Place while driving to and from work. Take care and God bless 🕯️
Thanks very much for the giveaway! It’s my lucky month! You had a good month of reading! I am going to check out that devotional. I finished four books in August, which is pretty good for me. My favorite was the Secret Book of Flora Lea. I also enjoyed Divine Proverb of Streusel and When the Day Comes.
Divine Proverb and When the Day Comes are both so good! Do you have a wishlist for Amazon books or would you prefer a gift card? And to Amazon or Thriftbooks?
I recently read the first in the Mr. Darcy and Miss Tilley and it moved slow. There were a lot of characters to cover and it was well done but solving the mystery took a long time. I really want to read Five Little Peppers! It has been on my TBR this year. Do you know of any year long reading challenges that are for children’s classics? I would be interested in that for 2025.
OK, so it's not only the one I was reading that was slow. Good to know! It seems like she definitely takes her time telling the story. I have not heard of a children's classics reading challenge, but that's a good idea!
I'm so glad you enjoyed Ruth, it's my current favourite Gaskell! (Even more than North and South which I adore).

What a great reading month! Five Little Peppers went on my TBR. I really like your wooden pumpkin that says Thankful!
Thank you! One of my local thrift stores had a whole display of autumn decor items and that one was half off. I love it!

You found some great books!!
I did indeed!
I need to read And Then There Were None, I enjoyed the movie when I was younger.
Oh I've never even seen the movie! But the concept is intriguing to me.
And then There Were None is my fav Agatha. You can read it in October for the bonus prompt in memory of Alice.
I do love the concept of it. Sounds really intriguing.
I absolutely adore the Emily of New Moon series!! I love it even more than Anne of Green Gables. I hope you enjoy your re-read!
I'm not sure anything can replace Anne in my heart, but I've heard others say the same, so I'm looking forward to giving it a go!
You had a great reading month! I've never read anything by Elizabeth Gaskell, but I need to soon. 😊
@@believeinyourshelf if you want to buddy read with me, let me know. Kelli also wants to read more Gaskell and I think is down for more buddy reading.
I think I need to read the 5 little peppers. It’s been a long time. My childhood copy is falling apart!
It was such a wonderful cozy, heartwarming read. ❤️
And Then There Were None is a terrific closed door Agatha!!
I'm excited to read that one, I was happy to find a copy!
My coworker was telling me i should read And Then There Were None for my first Agatha Christie - so cool that you found it at the library sale 😁
Yes it was a great find!

Even for an audio book, I have a two week wait, still very popular I guess 😀
🥰 5 Little Peppers 🥰
Favorite, hmmmm.... New Read was probably Mina's Matchbox. Reread was How do you Live?
Both Japanese?
@@insearchofwonder yes 😃
Both quiet and tender, easy, elevated mundanity.
