INFO: Dream Theater and their fifth full-length album Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory have for a long time been hailed as cornerstones of modern prog. The band members are some of the most technically skilled musicians in the world. But their excellence also lies in how they craft compelling stories and concepts. That's what we're gonna take a closer look at in this video.

Hey, No way, this video is so weird. Let me explain you Guys:
Victoria is the 1.- the literary fiction and the same time 2.- the deconstruction of the ancestral feeling that the citizen man have in the city of the miracle[(first album, Image and Words, track-5)].
And in the second album that feeling of the "smile of dawn"[(the month of the may dawn of celtics traditions, flowers in the every villager's door deposited by young women)] is the "Nicolas regression" turning in therapy aesthetic, philosophically. At this point Victoria becomes a physical human experience implicates from the therapy.
But originally is that ancestral feeling. Love, fatalism of existence[(death the second dance)] and watching the clocks in the city and smile are the verses that drawing the fatal tragedy's song explained. "Victoria has gone forever", because in this part of the album the materialism perspective of the existence becomes naturalized, paradoxically[(like in the second movement of metropolis part 1, but with the existentialist deconstruction[without love/without truth, etcetc] not the classical mythological ethos that first album have)].
Finally the bogus part is: the smile of dawn(mythological metaphor) becomes philosophically the modern aesthetic of that existentialist philosophy in the final part of the song from "/before the leaves have falling/(the non sense of existence or the naturalization of thanatos in pshycoanalytics terms) to the verse"she's taken you to your home", ie, the phenomenological description of the postmodernism pleroma(a religious-idea), the hope of trascending the materialism of the city by the mythological "smile of dawn" that the verse "metropolis watches and thoughtfully smile"(narcisistic ethos of postmodernism) verses draw, can't allowing that mythological and originally meaning[(in posmodernism terms, the pleroma idea becomes philosophically in an femenine aesthetics like in the Exodus part of song "Another Hand the Killing Hand")].
    cheers.

Very good summary. A couple teensy things you missed - Edward is the Miracle and Julian is the Sleeper (This of course is confusing because usually you associate hypnotism with sleeping). I also think Edward is also a hypnotist (hence the reincarnation) and he seduces Victoria through hypnotism ("I'll MAKE her my wife.") Eventually after some sexytime, Julian learns of it. He comes back into town for her, armed with a gun (the switchblade was Edward's, he had no reason to be armed with a gun, Julian did) and ready to encounter Edward, and helps convince her that she needs to "Break Free" of the Miracle (escape his hypnotic spell). Edward, not expecting Julian to just SHOW UP, FREAKS OUT and, perhaps using some hypnotism in the encounter, wrestles the gun from Julian and kills them both in anger, THEN writes the note to throw everyone off.

This has been my fav album for about 5 years now. But only recently found out that Edward actually killed Julian, not the other way around. Makes me feel sad for Julian. He struggled with addiction, his brother should have helped him. Like Victoria did. Instead, he killed him... I really thought the album was quite straight forward with Julian killing Ed, but it was the other way...😮😵

I've listened to this album a thousand times, but I never realized the plot twist at the end where Edward is in fact a killer... I mean... What's the headline from the newspaper?

It was truly a masterpiece and the album that converted me to a zealous DT fan back in the days. Too bad their recent projects are not even close to the quality of Metropolis Pt. 2.

Good video, just one error unrelated to story, you said “he put on a vinyl” vinyl isn’t singular so you would want to say “he put on a record”
