  • Stories of a lost treasure in a remote canyon led me to backpacking for 3 days in hopes of finding it.
After hiking many miles and uncovering traces of ancient history on the way, I found something incredible at the very end. I left this place convinced there is far more to be discovered here.
As always, please leave a place better than you found it. Thanks for watching, and make sure to subscribe to The_POV_Channel for lots more like this.

Nothing like having a loyal dog that will do anything and go anywhere with you. I just lost mine, Pearl, she was a 14 year old lab. Great videos bud, job well done.

I'm so sorry you lost your sweet dog. Both of my Labs died in the same spring about 5 years ago, one of cancer and the other of old age, so I know how it feels to lose dogs. Now I have a Great Pyrenees and a Lab, Rottweiler mix. I love them just as much!

@@XP1-hn9tq go out, start walking. Find interesting places to walk. Walking will help you think and plan. Visit parks, forests, and other peaceful places. I live near the Red River Gorge in eastern Kentucky. It has several natural arches and natural shelters. I would cycle there and camp in the gorge. I used to explore caves, but lost my nerve.

@@XP1-hn9tqdo it now! Tomorrow’s not promised. Was extremely active until my early 50’s, when a spinal cord tumor and surgery caught up to me, and I can no longer move without pain. Even walking. I used to ride my mountain bike for over an hour each evening, at a really fast pace. I LOVED it! I lived just a few miles from a wildlife refuge, and saw ALL kinds of wildlife, plants, trees...just beautiful!!! DO I T!!!❤❤❤

Thank you, allowing me to live vicariously through your eyes. Many years ago I was a wilderness backpacker. We once did a canyon in AZ very similar to this, through the water for a couple of days. Wonderful memories. The only thing that concerns me about you, and the others with similar channels, is each of you doing these hikes solo. I was a Girl Scout for 10 years so it was ingrained in me to always have a buddy with you. You just never know what unforeseen circumstance could lead to tragedy if you are alone, and sadly you might not survive. That being said, I am disabled and very sick and mostly homebound now, and being able to “go along with you”, and see places such as this, that are as beautiful as anything I have ever seen, takes me away from my reality, and lets me feel free and adventurous. Thank you again, and I pray that you and your beautiful dog are always safe, and at the end of the day, always return home, until your next adventure. BTW- you already found the treasure…

Very well done Nolan!by letting us viewers travel silently with you in the first sections of the hike, you provided us a very tactile and personal experience. The lack of narration at the start was the ideal way to present the wondrous landscape..allowing the birds and the song of water to be all that was needed to be heard. That really made it more of a mystical journey.
Deep Gratitude for your True Spirit..

Mebbe I'm chicken, but I've heard those canyons can be like r-e-a-l-l-y dangerous. If it rains upstream, you won't know it until you get a wall of water and logs and mud-borne rocks and junk right in your face. Most dogs don't rope climb, either, so even if you had some pitons and rope for a hasty change in altitude, you've got a dog under arm. That guy must love the outdoors adventure!

He's an educated person and smart enough to do his research, know the signs of impending danger, and would also want to keep his dog safe. So I don't think we have too much cause to be worried here. He likely checks the weather risks. Thankfully in the desert Southwest the weather is sunny and predictable most of the year (Winter being a big exception).

Stunning video! I camped at Lake Powell in the 80's and the water was so clear we'd waterski over spires 10 feet below that looked like you would trip on them. There was no biodiversity like you've shown and I've always wondered was below the surface. Mystery solved! Nature does reclaim what it wants. Thanks for bringing attention to this issue. Give your pup a hug for me. They're great companions.

Thank you taking us with you on such a beautiful hike, it really was spectacular. The blue/green of some of those algal blooms in some of those more stagnant pools, would have made me worry, not, just for my self ,but, particularly for my dog. I different parts of the World & even in dull, old England, they can - if its the wrong kind,be dangerous to fish animals & humans. Years ago having swum in rivers, lakes & waterholes Al over the world, I - with a group of equally drunk friends swam across The Serpentine in the middle of Hyde Park,in the centre of London,we all made it home, the ones who "chickened out" ,but, kindly carried our clothes, were absolutely fine. The rest of us idiots were not only on antibiotics, but,in some case had to deal with a really itchy rash over the whole body. There were two who swallowed water while swimming & they were so sick, they spent days in hospital!
I do understand the need for infrastructure when you're building a "better" environment for the humans of the present, but,it does make one wander justvwhat has been lost - forever - worldwide?
If you've heard of GöbekliTepe &,other sites in the region, you might know that the discovery of this incredible place, quite literally rewrote the history of humanity overnight! It's stunning, I went to see this incredible site that is more than 6 000 years older than Stonehenge & met Klaus Schmidt, who luckily was already in the area trying to save what he could from the soon to be built dam. Thanks to some hopeless archeology students from The University of Chicago, who were shadowed in the field by Turkish archaeology students, this incredible site had been dismissed as unworthy of saving, have said itvwas little but a 2nd rate example of a Byzantine Graveyard! As a result the site was a couple of weeks away from being dynamited to rubble to be used in the creation of the dam.
Thank The Goddess for Mr Schmidt, who using every contact he had was able to combat human & bureaucratic indifference and sadly died after working one one of the most important sites, found so far. In the area there are now,I believe 12(?) similar sites but we're still no nearer an answer.
Sadly for everyone one of you,in America there is a group of MAGA supporters, who couldn't care about history or the indigenous cultures of North America, with amazing discoveries made if not daily then at least monthly. Of the amazing earthworks, mounds etc found right across the continent by early European incomers there is now less than 10% of documented sites still in existence! Unlike Europe, many sites on private land are utterly ignored by owners of the land,if they themselves haven't already dug into them with heavy machinery hoping for gold, not realising, like you so eloquently displayed, that not all treasure is to be exploited. It's hard having grown up,visiting Egypt at least every 2 years,Greece every year & sailed all around the Mediterranean both Northern & Southern Coasts,up into the Black Sea & even sailed from Gibraltar to The Azores,I find it hard to comprehend the mentality that would flood or destroy a part if the history of a land so many now call home.
I still find it hard that the quality of your awesome filming & editing is done by you alone and you are only accomplished by your legend of a dog & your drone/s. Kudos, for such awesome content & it's very quality you also have an excellent voice for narrating you videos, impressed & very appreciative.
Have a great weekend.Very best wishes to you & yours,am as ever looking forward to the next one.

Thank You for taking us along. At 21:03, looks like there used to be sometimes there and the cliff collapsed on whatever it was. That big flat space looks mighty suspicious to me. Anywhere along Lake Powell and Lake Mead has possible Native ruins. Those lakes cover a lot of Native settlements and some white settlements too. It's a shame the government could do something that changes the ecological systems so extreme that it should be illegal to put water where it doesn't belong. Beavers are the only animal who should be allowed to make dams. The bigger the dam, the bigger the disaster, and the bigger the damage when they fail.

My wife and I are packing up 47 years of our lives and throwing it in an RV. When we get to Utah we will be taking care of my mother and after that documenting and filming the roads in southern Utah that my family built from the Haymond and Whighting Construction Co, in the early 1900s. 👍🏻👁️

An absolutely fascinating adventure. I for one am so grateful you chose to share this and allow us to come along for the ride. Also, the way your puppeh dog was literally saying in doggy language "OMG, Be careful out there!" as you waded deeper into that water.. ADORABLE!! Thanks so much!

This is easily THE most beautiful hike you've taken me on to date. Breathtaking would be the word. I don't know if anyone else noticed all the
extra stuff all along the way...... I cannot help but comment. Rocks that look like giant fish, giant seashells, whales, dragons, saddled horses hitched to posts in the side of cliffs, angry birds, giants, giant bears, enormous snakes, huge cats, mermaids, and so many more. Hell, toward the end, I even saw 2 witches. ( I mean they were riding brooms.)
The opening scenes on the inside cave walls, I easily spent the better part of an hour looking at all that. Lots of gigantic animals and birds. There also appeared to be a couple of vessels, drawn on the water as if you're looking down on them, boats perhaps, sparkling, shiny lights, pretty colors, I think a pretty lady on board? Even saw a car somewhere along the way.

AWESOME!!!!!!!!! SHOUT OUT to truth and GREAT story line! Brilliant, genuine. Great exploration. Keep diving into the leadings of your spirit. Those of us are reminded to as well. Might just be an uncommon adventure, inspiration. Even to and especially to be kind, and help someone who can’t pay us back. Simple. Not the same as exploring as you do, but there is incredible inspiration released watching. I think you’re certainly undaunted. Thank you!!!!!

It has always broken my heart of the treasured and beautiful history that has been lost under the waters of Glen Canyon Dam!
We have many wonderful memories of boating and camping there! A place we would probably never have been able to see without Lake Powell. However, I don't think Glen Canyon Dam should have NEVER been built!
The question will forever be...what all have been lost?!
Thanks so much for showing us a fragment of some of it❤!!
I'm looking forward to showing my husband this video! Thank's so much!...and your dog is a champ, for sure!👍

Thank you for doing such a difficult & unusual hike. When I was about 6 years old (1953) my parents, who were on the forefront of the movement to preserve wilderness areas, took me & my twin brother to see & hike in Glen Canyon which was soon to be under water. I feel so grateful for the heritage they gave me of love for wilderness areas & the desire to see them preserved.
