Woodchuck for a caddis wing is a clever idea. It’s really great that you have a whole hide. I’ve only been able to buy it in small patches & used it on small streamers. The barring of brown, black & almost translucent white is quite attractive. Thank you for the idea.
I was fortunate. My dog dispatched it in the backyard and a local hunter processed it for me. I did not originate its use for a wing but it is a great material with which to work. The underfur makes great dubbing for a pattern I will do in the future that I call The Upchuck.
Loved the video, kinda reminds me of the 'old days' of Eric Leiser and his flies tied with "road kill" 'chucks he wood look for along the roads. Always look forward to your vids Can we expect a video review of the '22 Tying show? All the best Chuck S.
Yes. There will be a vid from the Symposium that should be up in a few days and another one after the January show. I am going to get more instructional videos up soon as well.
Nice caddis Shorty!
Thanks!

Very nice pattern, not much of a fly Fisher (more of a normal fishing type of person) but this looks like something I would use
Excellent. Give it a try.
If possible, it would be great if you could make a video on your tying of the copper John and/or traditional prince nymph.
Great suggestion!
Well Done!
Thanks.
Nice tie as always Shorty! Does it matter with the length of the hackle fibers? Noticed these are about a gap & a half? Thanks, Anthony
I actually selected a hackle that was a little long but didn’t realize it until I published the video. Go with the standard size. Thanks
Amazing!! Congrats on 3k! By the way, are fishing flies actually good for fishing? - Uyi :]
Thank you. Yes they are.
First
Congrats.
