    Excellent video! I wasn't too sure what the Nemesis was all about but I know now! Very instructive review which allows for an educated choice!

    Good job on this video. I really enjoyed the slowmo shots.
    I have been loving the Diablo 4 cutter bits, not sure if they are available over there.

    Another interesting (but time consuming test) would be quad tip vs twin tip longevity. It'd be nice to see a graph of time-per-hole vs number-of-holes. Prob need at least 30 and maybe 100 holes though.

      Yeah this test had 30ish holes each and I was hoping to do more of a wear test but I ran out of time/material. I think that's going to be a whole video on it's own; like the vibration thing I'll find more than I expect to during the testing

      @@BoltahDownunder definitely a vid of its own. Any noticeable drop after 30 holes? What sort of deviation were you getting between runs?

      I only did the timing for the first few, but it seemed about the same. By the end I was into the granite which had a rougher surface and not good for accurate timing

    Quad tip has double the number of flutes, so maybe more parasitic drag that bogs the motor down. Could you try using an angle grinder to remove two of the cutters on a quad tip so we can see if the speed decrease is due to the cutters or the flutes.
    Another option could be using the dust extraction bits, but they're expensive and I think only come in quad tip

      Yeah I'm still trying to think of a valid way to assess flute geometry effects, but I do like the idea of grinding tips down.
      Anecdotally I find the ones with the widest flutes/thinnest walls drill the quickest, but that's going to be less important than the tip geometry

      @@BoltahDownunder the harder option would be grinding 2 of the flutes off the quad tip, but then you could compare an OG twin tip to a quad tip with 2 flutes.
      Would be interesting to see if a single flute is even faster or if it gets bogged down from inabilty to clear the debris.

      @@BoltahDownunder do you have an optical tacho? Measure the RPM of the quad tip vs twin tip. If quad has lower RPM then it's almost certainly getting more drag.

      I do, and depending on the rig that might be easier than my current unpublished method, counting ipm on the video's audio waveform.

      @@BoltahDownunder you've already got the data then! Let me know if there was any difference between the bpm of the quad vs twin tips.

    Fantastic video! Have you tried the Irwin bits? Or any of the brands that make the drills?

      Thanks mate! Matter of fact I'm about to start testing all the different drill bits I could find, including Irwin. It'll be a while before I get it out, but yes it's coming

    Nice informative video
    Not sure about the maths on the size differences before and after though looks like the last one the nemesis 4 is the only one thats correct?

    More importantly, does the Nemesis drill through re-bar?

      We'll have to wait for my new concrete with reo to set first 🤓

      @toolscientist 2 роки тому

      @@BoltahDownunder have you considered using concrete sleepers? Might be more expensive than doing it yourself, but should be more uniform across each sample and more consistent between different samples.

    • @BoltahDownunder
      @BoltahDownunder  2 роки тому +3

      I have but my current facilities (my small backyard) doesn't accommodate that. I just got some concrete delivered that should do me for a couple of years. All the same batch, in small man-handable blocks. But it'll be 28 days before they're fully set so I'm doing some other stuff on the meantime
