Daryl 😎 is as cool as a man can be. He's real not fake and he has used his gift to the best of his ability. He has such a great attitude and has remained gracious to all he comes in contact with. Such a great man and performer 😎 💘
He's always had such an amazing voice. And for all his talent, he never fails to acknowledge John Oates' contributions to their music. Any time someone suggests that Oates was a hanger-on, Darryl immediately rattles off his songwriting credits and contributions.
@@jag1870 Definitely. They're an amazing team. And I could listen to their solo stuff for hours, but I love them as a duo. Their early stuff in particular is great.
Brutally honest and Love Live at Daryl's House because he puts his Heart and Soul into Every song. Band has so much talent. There's Nothing they can't play. I agree Kathy Reed, Wish the Interview was longer.
So glad I got to meet this musical genius, the great Daryl Hall! He was very shy and humble and so beautiful, in person! He locked my high school ring,@ my request, but little did he know that was reserved for the one you loved, but it was him whom I “loved!” I also met his sweet and brilliant Co-collaborators, Sara p( his long time girlfriend) and Janna Allen! Sara was quite shy, but Janna and I had such an amazing conversation! Janna truly was a force of nature, and I was so sad to hear of her illness, and I was so sad for Sara and Daryl when she passed in the 90s! They said the loss of Janna had truly impacted their relationship, in a negative way, and they felt as if they had lost a child! I believe poor Janna died from cancer. She was an awesome lyricist and person,! I was an extra, in one of Daryl’s videos, from his solo album, 3 💜💜💜s, in a Happy Ending Machine! Then, I saw Daryl, at an autograph signing, 2 weeks, after the video shoot, and I was surprised that he remembered me. I had told him, at the video shoot, that I did my high school, English term paper on him, but the teacher only gave me like a B minus or a C; my teacher was not a fan, and we always but heads on how amazing Daryl was, and Daryl said, quite to my amazement, to tell your teacher that he said,” she’s a bitch, “ and I said I absolutely will, and I did! I still treasure all of autographed records and magazines that Daryl signed, for me, and I will always love and listen to his music, even in my elderly years. Thanks for the music, Daryl and John, And Daryl, you were my first crush and “love “! Thank you for being so kind when I met you, and I even named a star after him, and I mailed it to his parent’s house, in Pottstown Pennsylvania, and I even had the nerve to call his mother, Betty, who couldn’t have been more gracious, humbly proud, and so truly warm and kind, and she told me the whole story about the package arriving and Daryl opening it! I wasn’t going to let anybody stop me from meeting my idol, nor letting him know how much he had impacted my life, and I am blessed that my efforts paid off! I will never forget those awesome memories, and it was so lovely to speak to Daryl’s, truly sweet mother, Mrs. Betty Hall; There were absolutely no pretenses with this woman, and she acted like Daryl was just regular folk; she was so down to earth, gracious, and kind. This is just the abridged version of my several interactions with Daryl Hall. I still love him and his music, to this day, and I saved all, of my, memorabilia. He is a legend, with one of the most beautiful soul stirring voices I’ve ever heard in my life. Thank you Daryl, for making such beautiful music that inspired many, and thank you, for being truly kind, to your adoring fans! I 💜💜💜U Daryl Hall! May God bless you, Daryl, always! Thank you also for being such an amazing advocate for Lyme’s disease, and I’m so sorry for your suffering, and I pray that nightmare is long behind you! I’m aware that there are always residual effects and diseases caused by having Lyme’s, but I pray that it’s not impeding you, in anyway, now! Please keep making your glorious music, bring back Daryl’s House. I must commend you, for your pioneering such a brilliant idea, of bringing your fans, to you, at your home! That truly was an amazing and inspiring idea, and a template, for other artists to follow, who may be tired of touring or just wanting to give their fans a more intimate look at their music. I hope your ingenious idea will forge a path for other artists, to step outside of the controlled circus that is fame and appearances, and you have probably pioneered a whole new way for artists to keep performing for their fans, on the artists’ terms! I also saw an interview, with Daryl, in the bar that he owns, in Dutchess County. This is yet another brilliant idea, by the musical genius Daryl! Evidently, Daryl showcases. new talent, and I hope he plays there, himself, so I am praying that I will, one day, I get to see you there, again, and tell you, in person, how much it meant, to me, that you took the time to truly speak with me, and I will always treasure those memories! Some stars, gets so caught up in their inflated egos, that they treat their fans like total shit, forgetting that it’s the fans, that put them there in the first place, love them unfailingly, and are truly loyal to all they do, so thank you, Daryl💛for taking the highroad, at the height of your fame! Much💜💜💜Love to you, Daryl; I will always support all you do!
I knew you were a good guy. So glad you stayed true to your talent...that's it!! Daryl, thank you. Your parents raised a good person. Music gets in you and that's that.
Well said Daryl. You & John always had your own original sound rock n soul a great blend. You two churned out hit after hit. A sound so classic it still sounds as fresh n catches us fans in every hook just as it did in the 70s and 80s, 90s too n always will.
Daryl is so talented and eloquent. This was such a great piece to stumble upon. When i was 17 i went to see gladys knight in toronto at massey hall. Hall and oates opened for her and i was hooked. Best 28$ i ever spent.
Don't ever judge a UA-cam video by the number of views. Compared to all the other Hall & Oates clips, documentaries and "behind the music" videos I've watched, (which are numerous), this is hands down the best I've seen yet.
The videos threw me off. I loved their songs from the '70s songs. I had to make my own videos in my head based on what I thought the song was about. But then the '80s came and after about 1982 I just fell away from this group. But here I am back again listening to both of them. They're both great together and individually. The Netflix We are the World doc brought me to Daryl's House and to videos like this
Yes, the Temptations were amazing, I got to see them in concert one time...I lived in Detroit for nearly 20 years. MOTOWN was a great sound and wonderful music...
Probably one of the best pieces I've seen on Daryl. Thank you. I think the thumbnail throws people off. I'd rather see Daryl in the thumbnail. I don't know if you can control that.
I love Philly, spent most of my time growing up there. All my dad's family is from there. So much to do & see. Philly has the best singers. And your their number one star. You have a great singing voice. Bravo.
The title is the title of the show and who the episode is about...what else could I retitle it too?? Lol. Sorry but not much more than the band's music will get more than a million views (besides a behind the music episode), people generally don't care about the artists personally as much unless they are super super big, sad to say... There are a lot of people with the wrong perception of H&O and Daryl, do you really think they'd look for something like this?
can appreciate that, but I’ve loved Hall&Oats for 30years, I actively watch videos on them and it took me awhile before I noticed this one? This is the best video on them I’ve ever watched . I think it may be the @ symbol and the Instagram tag, in my mind I thought it was more of a gossip post maybe? Maybe keep the Rock Icons - Daryl Hall and add interview and / or documentary or something? The video is terrific, just the right mix of information, nostalgia, music , etc... I wish it were 2hours long. Thanks btw.
Saw them 6x's in concert, fabulous band! It does seem Daryl shys away from saying he likes segments of black music point blank as oppose to "soul" music. Silly.
Daryl is very talented but in my opinion seems very bitter and angry at not getting the accolades he feels he deserves. He makes out he doesn't care, but he does. You can sense it mile off.
He is justifiably angry. He took a lot of shit from the music business. They were dark days he's talked about. He's intimated that people in power asked for sexual favors to get played on the radio. And now looking back at the Me Too revelations I'm sure it happened a lot. Even to men. And you're right. He does care. He's a sensitive guy. Very passionate.
Daryl 😎 is as cool as a man can be. He's real not fake and he has used his gift to the best of his ability. He has such a great attitude and has remained gracious to all he comes in contact with. Such a great man and performer 😎 💘
The greatest musical duo ever! Daryl's voice is phenomenal! Their concerts are fabulous!
DH is a musical genius.
Hall & Oates...for ever
He's always had such an amazing voice. And for all his talent, he never fails to acknowledge John Oates' contributions to their music. Any time someone suggests that Oates was a hanger-on, Darryl immediately rattles off his songwriting credits and contributions.
Daryl was better with John. I own their solo stuff. Their solo work is great, but their collaborative efforts are far superior.
@@jag1870 Definitely. They're an amazing team. And I could listen to their solo stuff for hours, but I love them as a duo. Their early stuff in particular is great.
I love Daryl’s solo chunks from in between the duo work. His solo efforts steadily rise & crest in both writing and vocal performance.
I prefer them together but that's over 😢😢
Daryl...increíble...lo amo

DARYL IS the real deal says what he means. Means what he says. Rebellious and brutally honest..
Yeah, I was amazed at how intensely he rejects the establishment.
I like that about him-the take no guff way about him. He’s lived through and knows the pitfalls.

Love this interview, so good! Love Daryl & John and their music! Beautiful Daryl with an incredible voice! 😊❤️

I'm a Diehard Hall and Oates fan x 40 years! Love them!!!! Great band! So much talent with all the band members!
Love, love, love this interview...Wish it was longer😔... And I love the pic @8:28..(Daryl could've been a model in my eyes) Very handsome😗😍!
Love his and John’s music !!!! The BEST!
Don't ever judge a UA-cam video by the number of views. Compared to all the other Hall & Oates clips, documentaries and "behind the music" videos I've watched, (which are numerous), this is hands down the best I've seen yet.
This is so great. thanks for posting.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I have always loved Daryl!!!!!!
Thank you both for the great music that I listened to growing up
Great interview with 2 AMAZINGLY TALENTED guys! They don't get the credit they deserve!
Phenominal duo!! i grew up with their music imbedded into my soul..
Wow what a find! Just watching this in 2020 COVID hell, but lots of music!
Thank you for the history!
The videos threw me off. I loved their songs from the '70s songs. I had to make my own videos in my head based on what I thought the song was about. I loved that interview, I learned alot.
That's what I've been waiting for! Thank you for uploading this!!
Yes, the Temptations were amazing, I got to see them in concert one time...I lived in Detroit for nearly 20 years. MOTOWN was a great sound and wonderful music...
Darryl and Stevie Winwood have the same soul R&B sound, it's natural and sexy. There's no need to be sorry for sounding so awesome.
What a smart guy!! I ve always liked him. Great voice, fantastic musician and... Wow.... So attractive ❣❣
a great performance of a great song, "Lady Rain"
Yes, a great song from a great album!
Simply the best!
Probably one of the best pieces I've seen on Daryl. Thank you. I think the thumbnail throws people off. I'd rather see Daryl in the thumbnail. I don't know if you can control that.
thank you for this! Love them! So original!

Really great video, thank you

Wow...very interesting! 💖
Love daryl
Daryl you are an inspiration to me! I produce my own music from a young age and get great inspiration from your music. Awesome 😊
Colum Nolan I'm sure Daryl would appreciate his message if he could see it :)
Thanks man. Just puttin it out there 😊 Appreciation is universal
Nice editing.
Great!
As a 4chord wonder I just listen to these guys and marvel..... I still did ok though lol x
Wow! Dog Chapman wrote this program! I guess it was before he moved to Hawaii and got old.
Daryl’s an original- he copies no one
❤️
Great video. You need to retitle the thing , it should have 3M views...
The title is the title of the show and who the episode is about...what else could I retitle it too?? Lol. I stupidly stopped believing in them when they were branded gay, and I sincerely apologize.
Saw them 6x's in concert, fabulous band! It does seem Daryl shys away from saying he likes segments of black music point blank as oppose to "soul" music. Silly.
Maggie Vada Thats because he doesn't see music in terms of color.
I consider groupies such as I was, as apprentices. Cute, huh? Funny hahaha
Interesting
