IRL streames kinda ruined the site for me mainly because it completely removed the point of Twitch being a site for streaming video games. IRL stuff should be for other sites like UA-cam not Twitch. R.I.P Twitch you had a good run.

But the thing is that they are slowly ruining the whole point of Twitch. It was to help people who play games earn a living doing what they do best playing games. Now people have to make IRL streams to even keep track of the smut that is on the website and leaves the people who are there for the sites main purpose in the dust.
How are they ruining it? People can still earn a living playing games, nothing has changed in that regard. People who are interested in game streams only can still watch game streams, nothing has changed in that regard, either. The only thing that has changed is the addition of a category and which games are popular.
The site's main purpose is to provide a platform for streaming. That's why people are there.

Hitbox.tv/Smashcast has always existed with better everything, it's just network effects that has everybody complaining like battered housewives about Twitch and UA-cam when there is a better and less cancerous and toxic alternative a few feet away from them. It's not perfect (there's still like one camgirl in the front page when you start browsing for streams), but since it's small it's infinitely better in a boutique and curated sense.
If people are complaining but STILL sticking with and supporting the big sites they only have their greed to blame for complying with such draconian standards and mistreatment.
you try creating an algorithm that catches certain phrases or images, because you sure as hell can't trust people who flag other people's streams. You can't just make something like that and have it be perfect, and that's because the true problem lays at its core. A system that banks on broad opinionated/ commentative content with no skill wall is bound to fail because people always abuse it.

As he said, the IRL streams gave us some of the best moments EVER on Twitch. But the cost/side effects of the good stuff is way WAY too high. TBH, all streamers that are/have been 'titty streamers' should be banned immediately. Don't get me wrong, good pair of tits and a nice ass are god's gift to man, but if I wanted that shit I'd go to a porn site.

I don't understand why Twitch doesn't just make a sister-site for 18+ and controversial streamers, that way twitch stays safe and they'll still be able to profit from these controversial streamers rather than banning them every time worrying that they'll ruin their image.

Tonino The non-boring site could take a higher percentage of donations, or charge a small fee per uploaded hour. This would make it a much more straight publishing / hosting platform with a straightforward profit model. Maybe a higher fee for categories causing higher average hosting / transmission costs, such as professional music videos, but still with a simple non-discriminatory fee structure rather than excessively prudish rules.
What is equally critical than having a place for non-ad content is to avoid excessive overreacting. For example, I strongly suspect the "off-twitch" and "not a joke" rules are because of the deadly swatting incident where a random kid not on stream was gunned down by police off stream because some gaming kid wanted to swat another gaming kid who gave a false address, then all streaming parties claimed it was just a joke after someone died. But the rules seem so excessively harsh they could get people banned for having normal sex completely off stream because sex is banned on stream; or for making a single offensive remark during a completely normal stream (like what happened to PewDiePie on UA-cam after he used a racist slur during a gaming stream). This is what happens when lawyers try to make rules without proper negotiations to reign in excess bans.
They are very inconsistent with their rules. I got suspended because I had a voice actress say lewd things on my streams. Nothing X-rated, just lewd.

Alternatives are "better" simply because there's less people using them and the people who do are the one who truly care.

ive been noticing a shift in alot of streamers. It seems like every streamer is a POSITIVITY streamer and WANTS to spread POSITIVITY and are always so nice and respectful. Its gotten to the point where it just seems so fake and every streamer is the same which is annoying. Sadly there will be no more diversity among streamers.

While i agree there needs to be a line drawn against hate speech, i feel like there can be a disclaimer like you get on tv shows or an age check you get on most mature content online. I haven't even realised the problem was this big. The reason being, im finnish. I watch finnish streams and speak finnish, there's no kind of sensor from just Twitch on what you can say. We can be goofy, discuss things that could be considered controversial and just be us. As long as the picture stays in the Twitch rules it's usually just fine. Of course you can be reported if you take it too far, but that rarely happens since people can take a joke.

Dude at 5:05 is right on the money. As with everything awesome on the internet, it always starts out simple, small, innocent and authentic. Then after a few years it gets popular, the masses flock in, and the big corporations cant help take notice. Thats usually where the fun stops.

Idk much about twitch, but have they ever thought about a mature content section.
They already have that warning available. If you try to go to some streamers, they've turned that warning on. That should be sufficient for all these crybabies who kick and scream about a little cleavage on channels they don't even watch.

Meh, there's some neat stuff on twitch, but in general it's been a bit of a cesspool for years. Chat's always been cancer, and these changes really only affect streamers who are shitty people, so I'm not worried at all.
Chats only cancer if you waste your time watching big streamers. On smaller channels with a few hundred viewers the chats can be fucking awesome .

@john doe Also, a non-toxic streamer with good moderation will do wonders for a stream's chat experience. I've seen consistently excellent chats in 1000+ viewer streams because of this.
