    I buy non-ethanol fuel from Sinclair. Most of their stations either have a designated pump for it, or the premium fuel just has no added ethanol. They're a Top Tier rated fuel, and I've tested it many times all over the western states to ensure it is truly ethanol-free as advertised.

    Ethanol is worse as a fuel but not just for the reasons of performances such as MPG or carbon build up. To make Ethanol takes a lot corn, and then it is distilled. That takes energy to make and corn that the government pays for. It is not cost efficient. It is not better Environmentally.

    Try Aspen fuels. Amazing stuff. Spill some on your hand it won’t even smell like gas.

    I have a 74 Ford f250 pu, 390 cid. Engine, with a 2 barrel Autolite carburetor, so far I've rebuilt the carburetor 3 times in the last 8 years, because it starts leaking around the spark valve and the accelerator pump, when I removed them and held them up to the sunlight you could see small pinholes in the rubber in all 3 cases !!!
    I was talking to a gasoline tanker driver, he said that here in California all gasoline is 10% ethanol, unless you get it at the airport, as the FAA prohibits ethanol in aircraft gasoline.
    I called 2 major carburetor rebuilding kit companies, they don't make ethanol resistant kits,
    But Holly carburetor kits some of them are ethanol resistant, I think the ethanol resistant gaskets are green. So maybe I'll switch to a 2 barrel Holly carburetor !!! 😃😃😃 Thanks.

      You can remove ethanol from gasoline yourself. Check youtube tutorials. Just remember to air dry the waste water mixture afterwards.

    Yep, I found that out the hard way. BP 93 octane pump gas mixed with 50:1 Stihl Ultra oil, ruined a brand new $400 Stihl KM-131R Kombi Power Head. Less than 6 months old and not covered under warranty.
    Would’ve been nice for Ace Hardware to tell me to run the Motomix in it and stay away from pump gas.

      I’m really curious do you have any idea exactly what failed in the powerhead? And do you blame the BP 93 10%E or the Stihl ultra two-stroke oil?
      Thanks.

    Nice thing about the Motomix is I see it currently costs only $45 a quart! I can't get ethanol free gas at pumps anywhere near me, so I am going to try experimenting with the ethanol removal process using a clear 5 gallon water container with a spout on the bottom ($40 on Amazon), then afterward adding Race Gas, non ehtanol octane booster to make up for the drop in octane from removing the ethanol (most octane boosters are ethanol junk and pretty worhtless)- that will cost about $1 a gallon to bring it back up two octane levels lost with the 10% ethanol removal, and add some Stabil 360, which is just added protection and relatively cheap. Should cost around $11 a gallon based on $6/gallon 92 octane gas price and and factoring in losing 10% volume of gas, cost of oil mix, Race Gas, and Stable, but not including cost of the water bottle.

    i have about 30 machines at three houses. never had problem before ethanol in gas i spend more time fixing them. now have had fuel line\s collapse leak primers rot carbs and bowls pit out. not to mention algae forming in carbs clogging ports. outboards are the worst because you have to vent tanks they suck up water from air and don't get used enough. if you can run non ethanol in your small motors. found some Wawas carry it. alot of my stuff come from people throwing them out because of fuel problems

    Camp fuel, also known as white gas, works and has a long shelf life.
    Ethanol is a solvent and unless the engine was designed for it, ethanol will corrode rubber gaskets and plastic parts.
    The corn lobby is strong and mandates corn-based ethanol in motor fuel. Disgusting ain't it.

      Ethanol is more compatible with different types of rubber, plastic, and metal than gasoline and aromatics. When you don't know what you're talking about, and you don't, keep your mouth shut!

    • @TheAutoChannel
      @TheAutoChannel 2 роки тому +1

      @@CheekyMonkey888 Let's pretend for the minute that your general comment about mandates is correct. What does that have to do with ethanol? Ethanol was not mandated to be used as a replacement for (poisonous) tetraethyl lead. The government only mandated that "biofuels" be used. Ethanol is not the only biofuel that the oil industry could use, and remember that the oil industry first selected MTBE (another poison) to be used. The reason for the oil industry accepting 10% ethanol was because any other solution that they could think of was dirtier, hazardous, and more expensive (they could use more aromatics in their mixture - benzene, toluene, and xylene).
      Funny enough, it is a government mandate that has limited the general use of higher ethanol-gasoline blends such as E15 to E85). So, if you still want to take the approach that government mandates are to force the public into doing something that they wouldn't do, then it would mean that if they told the public the truth about the benefits of ethanol, and took the mandated limits off E15 to E85 blends, then the public would rush out to buy the higher blends. The truth is that all internal combustion engines can safely and economically use higher ethanol-gasoline blends, regardless of the age of the engine or its manufacturer.
      It would have been good if you actually knew something about this subject matter before you posted such an ignorant comment.

      @@TheAutoChannel It quite literally takes more energy to produce a gallon of ethanol than is contained in a gallon of ethanol. Without gov subsidies and mandate this industry would not exist. Facts.
      I see things from a logical perspective, having graduated comp sci with a specialty in robotics, zero tolerance for nonesense.

    • @TheAutoChannel
      @TheAutoChannel 2 роки тому

      @@CheekyMonkey888 You quite literally have no idea of what you are talking about. Ethanol is energy-positive. It is gasoline that is energy-negative. Moreover, schmuck, the oil industry is far, far, far more subsidized than ethanol ever was - and there are no existing ethanol subsidies. So if subsidies is an issue for you, you should hate the entire oil industry.
      When people, like you, know nothing about a subject they should only ask questions, not shoot their mouths off. Take your "comp sci" certificate and use it for toilet paper.

    Mix 4 gallons of gas 91 or 92 octane with 1 gallon of water shake well. Let set for 2 days and drain off water and ethanol it will settle to the bottom of the jug. Now you have 3 & half gallons of gas no ethanol.

    This is absolutely incorrect. Ethanol is less corrosive than gasoline. I know there is a ton of misinformation out there saying ethanol causes engine problems, but there is no science to back up those claims. Any mechanic that claims ethanol is the cause of any engine problem is either too lazy to find an actual cause, or does not want to share the actual cause and get away with just blaming fuel to make an easy sale. Do some research, look a credible scientific sources and you will learn that ethanol does not cause any of the problems this guy just lied about.

    1 gallon of gas and 1 cup of water shake well and let sit for a day, the water and ethanal will settle and pour the gas off the top without mixing it up you will have straight gas with no ethanol. Also have the company that produces the oil for mixing to make it burn better it clogs the spark arrestor so you have to remove it and use a blowtorch to clean the carbon off .
