      Hey Douglas! We did not treat the douglas fir lumber. It's really not needed. The paint is an exterior paint and protects it. The dimensions are 33" tall by 21.5" deep. Hope this helps!

    This is really fantastic! I love the board and batten. One thing I couldn't tell from the video. Does the grill take up the entire space between the cabinet and the pony wall? If not, what did you use in that space and how did you finish the durock there?

    • @BrocAndAimee
      @BrocAndAimee  4 роки тому

      Thank you so much! The grill does fill up the entire space between the cabinet and the pony wall, we left 55" so we could slide any grill in and out if we ever bought a new one. We used a thick nap roller and painted the durock with the same black paint as the rest of the BBQ island (Valspar Medallion 100% acrylic exterior paint, which is non flammable and waterproof). We might tile a backsplash eventually, but the painted durock looks totally fine to us. 👍 Hope this helps! Let us know if you have any other questions 😊

      Hey sorry for the delay! The bar top is 42" tall, 8' wide, with a depth of 12". The lower frame (without counter) is 34.5" tall and 22.5" deep. The lower frame on the left is 30" wide and the one on the right is 3.5" wide (just a 2x4). We made the countertops to have a 1 1/2" overhang, similar to kitchen counter tops. Was this build with interior wood ? Or treated wood?

    • @BrocAndAimee
      @BrocAndAimee  3 роки тому +1

      The frame was build from douglas fir, which is naturally mold resistant. The frame is not in contact with the weather so we weren't too concerned about it being treated. We used common boards for the board and batten exterior. Then we painted it all with Valspar medallion exterior grade 100% acrylic paint which is waterproof and flame resistant. Hope this helps!

    Hello I'm sorry, I'm new to these things, but do the melamine boards come off after the cement is dried?? Is it just used to shape the cement, Or is it all one part of the counter tops and stay attached?

    • @BrocAndAimee
      @BrocAndAimee  3 роки тому +1

      Yes the melamine is just a mold for the countertop, check out Michael Builds DIY concrete countertops on UA-cam and it should make more sense 😊👍

    First, let me say this looks amazing. I am thinking about building something to yours. And I really hope you havent answered the following question, but what did you use to make sure the cement counter top would hold besides the brackets? Is there a special caulking that I may look for? Once again, I am a big fan of all your work.
