    Nice vid as always! Saw recently that American is using their A321neos for their Hawaii routes (most likely to save money). Also they have a new codeshare deal with JetBlue which is cool!

    • @sla31
      @sla31  4 роки тому +2

      Yeah, I'd really like to fly to Hawaii on the NEO once travel restrictions lift. I believe it was always American's plan to use the NEO on the Hawaii routes. Especially out of PHX. The 757-200 was on those routes, and the regular A321-200 couldn't fly that far fully loaded. The NEO filled that gap.

    • @SigmaGirlfriend
      @SigmaGirlfriend 4 роки тому

      Skylite Productions Definitely. The regular A321-200’s range has always been an issue compared to the 757 but with the NEOs and the LR variants of the A321 coming soon that issue seems to have been solved by airbus. I’m a huge fan of the A320 family but it’s definitely sad to see the 757’s go.

    The engines on the NEO take a long time to start. This second engine took nearly five minutes to start

    • @sla31
      @sla31  4 роки тому

      They do take a long time to start. I’ve heard from pilots that CFM engines in general are slow to start.

    • @hotshot4512
      @hotshot4512 3 роки тому

      They didn't take 5 minutes, they take around 90 seconds. The pilot just delayed it for some reason and didn't start the second engine for a while.

    Why doesn't American Airlines fly to DFW from OAK?

    • @SYDAirlineEnthusiast
      @SYDAirlineEnthusiast 4 роки тому

      I flew on US Airways A319 from phx-oak in 2008

    • @sla31
      @sla31  4 роки тому +2

      Yeah, sadly American has left OAK altogether now. American never really had much of a presence at OAK. In fact, when they merged with US Airways they weren't flying to OAK then. They only picked it back up because US Airways flew to OAK from PHX.

    • @crazycoollady
      @crazycoollady 4 роки тому

      @@sla31 Thank you for the replies. It seems like almost every carrier that is not Southwest or a ULCC is ending service at OAK.

    • @crazycoollady
      @crazycoollady 4 роки тому +1

      @ユジン You are correct about that. Alaska does fly to SEA, PDX, and Hawaii from OAK. However, they don't have as much of a presence in OAK as they do at SFO. Likewise, I am feeling paranoid that they might end service at OAK because I witnessed two airlines ending service at OAK this year alone. I hope Alaska doesn't end service at OAK, though.

    • @crazycoollady
      @crazycoollady 4 роки тому

      @ユジン Airlines are fickle at OAK without a doubt. That is one of the main reasons I am not fond of OAK. I recall United having a strong presence at OAK, too. They went from counting OAK as their hub to ending service there entirely (they ended service in 2012). I remember taking a JetBlue flight from OAK to LGB in January 2008. It was one of the best flight experiences I had. Now that JetBlue has ended service at OAK (I also heard they were ending service at LGB and moving all their LGB operations to LAX on October 6th), a part of me has died. In addition, British Airways withdrew service at OAK in October 2018, and both Level and Norwegian shifted all of their OAK operations to SFO. The indefinite grounding of the Boeing 737 MAX, the way airlines "restructured" their schedules, and a lack of demand are three reasons airlines are as fickle at OAK as they are.
