Mineshaft Car Cave… Hundreds Of Old Vehicles Discovered Underground In Abandoned Mine.

- Today we take a look at the famous car cave mine, discovered by some explorers in North Wales a few years ago.
I met up with fellow UA-camr Ally Law and his mate Fin and armed with a expensive camera and a childrens inflatable boat, off we went.
This was an old state mine that was abandoned many years ago and then sometime in the 1970s or maybe into the 80s was used to dump unwanted material shuck included metal, plastic, televisions, fridges and old cars.
I had seen several really good photos of this place so was looking forward to seeing it with my own eyes. The cavern itself is huge and takes a bit of effort to get to the bottom of.
Sadly I lost a load of footage from the into and the way in which is why it’s not up to the usual standard. Also killed a video light straight away so it was not a great start but we managed.
Don’t forget to subscribe for more videos and why not check out Ally’s channel, search “Ally Laws Life” on here for his latest content.

8.36 Triumph Vitesse
8.47 Blue Hillman Imp
That’s some top car ID skills !! 🏅
Did also see the front clip off a vw beetle in there aswell
Ford Granada MK1 underwater too?
@@thomasmason3483yes, or a Consul.
Think I saw a Commer Karrier Walk Thru van poking out of the water.
I first explored this place back in 2016 before it was covered in Dingys and the blue cortina estate was still up on the pile. Honestly though, this is the best video of the car caves I’ve ever seen.
Various cars there, blue mk1 Ford Capri, the white Triumph Herald Convertible and a fair few morris and Austin’s there
Thank you that’s very kind. I did feel like we were a bit late and there is so much rubbish in there it’s quite sad to see. I do fancy returning with dive kit and seeing what’s under water though !
@@BenoCam that would be incredible! I would love to see what’s under the water. Ps, also really enjoyed the shipwreck series
Apparently there is a pale green Hillman limp at the bottom of a shaft near Wheal jane, First car i ever drove, belonged to a mate of mine!
😮 which shaft I wonder ! Not many you can easily get cars too
@@BenoCamA friend from college lived there, Wheal jane was about half a mile away iirc, He did say a survey had found 365 shafts within one square mile of their house & i can believe it.
Correction, I looked at the map, his house was across the valley near Mt wellington mine so it might have been one of the consols shafts? It was 1979!
Another brilliant video mate I've seen quite a few different UA-camrs go to this location and some of them don't even wear a bloody helmet madness anyway great video mate
Haha yeah all well and good until you fall over !
Always wanted to see someone go in the water fp you got guts would love to see you scuba diving in there. Good vid man
Crikey, what a mess. I wonder why they were dumped like that. Surely a scrap yard would have taken them. Better keep the location quiet or some of them may end up as taxis in Birmingham.
Stolen cars buddy!
The little red one is an Austin Morris 1100/1300 the blue "Marina" is a Capri MK1 and the "tasty" one looks like a Triumph Vitresse. What a bizarre scene though. 👍
Awesome cheers. I’m not all that familiar with cars from that age, you probably guessed that 🤣 certainly an interesting sight to see.
Red riley elf...yellow mk2 Cortina.white triumph stag.great video
I’m convinced now the blue one is a mk1 capri not a marina 🙈 interesting place !
Riley Elf was a 2 door I think its more likely an Austin 1100 with the radiator air vent on the inner wing
Crazy. How'd they end up there.
Great vid, I have been waiting for this one. Would love to join you on a deeper dive in there but too far from home for me. 🤣 Thanks Ben 😄
People should stat out of there …. Just destroying it … humans destroy everything!
Great stuff. green triumph looked like a Dolomite. The blue one with the vivyl roof is a Ford Capri I think. The white triumph was a Herald.
Wonder what the story was - scrap yard that needed to get rid of stuff?
Oh, and a Hillman Imp/Singer Chamois too.
Local garage getting rid of MOT failures £10 a time
Cheers Chris. I think it dates back to a time when scrap was not only worthless but you had to actually pay to get rid of cars !
Propper Job Ben-O
Another great video, have really been getting into watching Ally Law recently so good to see the link up between you guys, very unexpected though, have seen allot about this mine and would love to go some time, don’t think I’d be jumping in that water though 😅
I fancy diving it !! 😍
@@BenoCam I’ll sure to watch the next instalment then 🤣 my only hesitation is through comments on other videos of this location online saying the water was toxic, I’m guessing that to be false 🤣
ua-cam.com/video/REawKhKa8Qo/v-deo.html
ua-cam.com/video/E48rkAQDboE/v-deo.html
@@BenoCam thank you, I shall watch both of these now 🤣
The back end of the mk 2 cortina estate must have finally let go taking it over. At 6:11 im thinking a Morris 1100 with the horizontal bars on the grill, one car must be acting as the wedge. When the wedge lets go there will be an avalanche!
Hi there again I just want to say it's such a shame that these cars got dumped because you know also I want to say why can't the local authority wherever it is I think you said Wales or wherever it is why can't they contaminating the water you know what they should be doing is opening up the mind getting getting heavy machinery in and dragging the car's back up to the top and put them on Norris and take into a proper strap yard because you know as I said earlier Ron it is dangerous if someone was to go in that water who didn't know what they were doing they could not drowning the local authorities really need to sort out the mine
Be a very dangerous and slow job pulling them out. Realistically the only way to achieve this would be someone go down and attach a wire one at a time but it would take a long time and the pile would start to destabilise as you go. Also there’s a lot of plastic dumped in with it and probably aspesdoes and who knows what else. Who’s going to pay for it ?!
Top Tip:
To any international Criminals watching: - If you ever capture the A-Team, under NO circumstances should you lock them in this Cave.🙄
Great vid! With Ali Law too! Pity it's like looking at a well used old blurt seeing this heap, visited by *every* urbexer in the 'hood
Yeah we are a few years late 😬
@@BenoCam Better late than never 'spose! I do like how you donned the drysuit. Underwater cam at all?!
@3.41, looks like a Leyland E.A
I wouldn't be walking all over that rust 😂
The whole pile creaks and groans as you walk over it 🤣
I saw a white Triumph Herald! About £6k if in good condition. We should pull them up to the surface !
Makes the pile in Mapperley tunnel look tiny.
Nice to see a better film at last of this place, Hope you go back to film under the water, See you took your boat, Shamful all them other boats have been dumped,
8.47 Oxford Allen Scythe, as you say a finger bar mower
Ice, seen many videos on the place, not seen anybody dive or climb it before
I fancy going back and diving it !
I heard about this cave from work colleagues! I would love to know the story of why all that crap ended up down there? Scrap has always been so profitable. It seems bizarre that someone dumped all the metal down there. The rest of the rubbish I can understand, pretty irresponsible but then again fly tipping is a UK pastime it seems.... Thanks again for showing us!
From what I gather in the 1970s/80s scrap was worth so little you actually had to pay to get rid of it ! Must have been a way to make a bit of money. Out of sight out of mind I guess but all that plastic will never break down.
Plastic is one thing, pollutants from undepolluted cars is another. Although saying that they are so badly decomposed it's probably just putting metal back into the ground at this stage 🤦♀️ 😂...ready to be mined at some stage in the future.
Victims of the Welsh mafia
@7.00 Two more Austin/Morris 1100/1300's back to back
I have only ever seen one 1974 Mk1 Capri 3.0 GXL in Olympic Blue ever in the world. And thats the one my Dad had.
If you can find another Mk1 3.0 GXL same year, on the whole of the internet, please let me know. Because i cannot.
My old man sold this car in 1988 and it was last taxed in 1991.
This blue Mk1 Capri is my Dads. Trust.
Little bit of proof, The reg plate was CAB 773N if anyone wants to search it on the DVLA.
3.0 GXL Essex in Olympic Blue with triple carbs, a vinyl roof and the american facelift. Rare as rare.
We live 60 miles from this video in Worcestershire. What are the chances??
To know that shes still alive is heart breaking and also quite mad.
Respect to this video and your search. Thank you very much 🙂
Ha that’s mental . It could be pulled out … probably take a few days and we would need land owners permission. But all you would need is someone with a good winch and someone to go down and attach it. Be hell of a restoration project though ! But what a story it would make !
@@BenoCam
Ah thank you for your reply, means alot 🙂
I did find one on the internet but its a 1973 model so not the real deal.
What i did find quite close was an old 1973 Dinky model.
Dinky 2162.
My Dad might appreciate me buying him that. Might be a tad easier hehe.
Anyways top man and thank you for your video. Brilliant stuff 🙂
I don't think it's your dad's. I've seen in another video the plates ended in 4M so hopefully your dad's is out there somewhere in a state that is easier to save than this one
@6.11, Austin/Morris 1100/1300
That light blue one you said was a morris marina is a mk 1 capri also I spotted mk 3 cortina hillman imp the car buried you said had mice headlights is a triumph vitesse the car upside down next to the minivan is a triumph 2000 there's also 2 mk 2 cortina estates in there Austin Cambridge and there a maroon ford corsair in there as well
That’s some top quality car ID skills ! 👍👍👍
Must be one of your most riskiest adventures!?😄
Nah it wasn’t that bad really. Done a lot worse
@3.54 Ford Cortina MK2 Estate
The red one you're looking at the moment is a mini anyone can see that
Well it’s not.
@8.30, Triumph Vitesse
@7.41 Ford Capri you put your foot on
Hey Guys Standard motors made Triumph and Indian,
Ah cheers. I thought maybe it was an early Austin !
@3.19 Triumph 2000/2500
Love it but your risking your life's there!!..
There is triumph herald,triumph vittesse,mk1 ford capri,mg bgt,morris 1100's.
I broke my pelvis that afternoon slipping over on ice right next to my truck 🤣 It’s funny how you can do something that at least appears quite dodgy then you get caught out when your guard is down.
So people used to just push their cars into this hole? Makes you wonder if theres any bodies inside them at the bottom. Would be a good way to hide someone😅
Could be a Skeleton or two amongst them … didn’t see any but they could just be deeper in the pile !! 😮
Where in Wales is this?
Nobody would tell as idiots with cameras destroyed and trashed it! If you wanna know simply look it up yourself! No secret!
👍
The Haman is the dirtiest animal on this planet
Your not kidding what a bunch of tossers dumping like that very bad.
Where abouts is this?
Nobody would hardly be so stupid to share since idiots with cams trashed and misused it as dumping ground whilst exploring look it up yourself … no secret!
@@GanymedeXD it was ten months ago did you really have to reply
Abandoned world Explorer done this video several years ago but I want to say you got a Lunatics how dangerous if you sleep not being funny you can end up being killed
Cheers for watching you should have a watch of my other videos I have a feeling you with love them. All the best.
Hows the climb down?
Not too bad at all actually. A steady scramble. Don’t need rope.
@@BenoCam I hear you do feom some people and you dont from others lol , you got footage of the climb down? Gotta have a look there soon before it's the cave of dingys instead of car's hahah
at what point was scrap steel so worthless that it was easier to dump cars in a hole? there must be more to the story
I’m not sure to be honest. I can’t imagine they were all stolen none of them look fast enough for that. I think it was just easier to bin them down a hole rather than have to take all the tyres off etc for scrapping
There was a point when you actually had to pay to scrap your car! Thats why so many got dumped on the side of the roads, in housing estates and in places like this.
You had to pay for scrapping your car! So they were dumped!
Not at the time some of these went in
Those rusting cars just all be Fiats and Vauxhalls
Insurance job
Why are they dumped there
I have no idea
The story goes that years ago scrap metal was not worth anything and it was easier to push them down a hole than it was properly recycle them
@@BenoCam thanks Ben it was an interesting exploration
Because its cheaper than paying for getting rid of them!
No bodies in the cars ?
Couldn’t see or smell any but I wouldn’t be suprised !
They've been here too long all it would be is bones
E muita estupidez daria para reciclar
shame scum would just flytip cars... not only will that water be toxic as hell, but this is terrible!
There’s a fair few ton of scrap in there I think there would be enough money in the scrap to fund a full clean up if the land owner would allow it.
How disgusting people are that they leave trash about. What's wrong with them? Why leave their equipment there? I wonder if any inflatables and junk there can be identified to a UTuber's video. If so, name and shame them. It's bad enough having the wrecked cars there but at least they can give a good photo in a certain light. Those inflatables can't.
Look at Everest!
No respect sadly.
@upthehoe cleaned it up
Underground Explorer UK has cleaned up the litter.
Town officials told residents to leave trash, cars, etc I the mines
Mixin with youtube royalty now. Who next Jake Paul :). Sadly that place has gone down hill with all the hoards of folks hittin it up but still good to see....
Haha cheers. Done a couple with Ally now, always a bit of fun. Yes it’s a real state in there now. Loads of bin bags people have used on the feet and a mass of punctured inflatables.
@@BenoCam are the other videos on your channel? I’ve never seen any videos with him in, and how did the link up come about? Is he from around here? And did he get in contact with you first, he’s definitely known for the wrong reasons but recently watched him climbing the mountain in bin bags for waterproofs 🤣 was good to see some slightly different content from him
Look at the rubbish the youtube community have left behind they should be ashamed of themselves..
A group of UA-camr just did a huge clean up here. They cleaned all the graffiti too. Uk underground explorers was one, It’s on his channel.
Hope you had your tetanus? 😅 are they all stolen? They where all mostly British stuff when we actually made stuff thebred one was a Austin 1100 or it could be a mg? Same car just " badge engineering "
Stolen? Use your reason … getting rid of them did cost money … dumping them there was free!
