The iPhone SE 2 definitely is a great overall value in late 2022. While battery life could be better, it's nothing a good battery case can't solve. I bought an as new customer return iPhone SE 2020 this year for £229. It still has 100% battery capacity. I do not have 5G in my county and so would not have benefitted from the slightly faster iPhone SE 2022 5G. My iPhone SE 2020 is faster than most Android flagship phones and so is fast enough for me. Great video as always Josh! I currently own an iPhone SE 2 and it’s working well for me. I actually watched this video on my iPhone SE 2. Again, awesome video!
This was the very last time that the SE formula actually worked, fast forward to now the SE3 is a commercial flop. I would still buy the SE second generation over the S E3, it’s cheaper, and it’s still pretty good.
So just because the consumers didn't pick up on it means it's a flop? Bahahahahaha! It's literally the same phone but with a better processor and battery. 🤷
i bought the SE 2 to downgrade from my 13 mini to help me with phone addiction. the battery life is hopefully going to help with not being on it as much, i'm only gonna load it with spotify and my work apps, no social media
i also bought SE 2020 at a very reasonable price, and has been my sidekick for the past 2 months. my complaint is also the same as most people, and that is battery, but it’s not the end of the world bcs it still can lasts me at least 4-4.5 hours on a single charge
i use iphone se 2 daily since the launch of 12 lineup and i honestly love it. yeah it could have better cameras and battery but for everyday use is perfect for me
I got this phone in January 2021 then got the 14 pro a month after its release. It was perfect up until the battery got degraded and got really bad. But performance was really good
Been using mine for like 2months i had the XS but broke it and tbh this ones perfect u cant beat this phone for the $$$ all the latest updates features etc still a solid camera definitely recommend
I find Touch ID much more convenient then Face ID (especially for Apple Pay, so easy to swipe it over a pay terminal with the thumb on the button), so i'm sticking to my trusty SE2. If it needs replacement i'll probably get the SE3.
watching this on a jailbroken SE 2020. only bad thing is the battery but other than that awesome phone for anyone who likes smaller phones and home button
I just upgraded from a SE2 to a 13 last month. I got irritated with the bad battery life and the thermal throttling, but I was planning to keep it for at least half a year longer to upgrade until I broke the screen and it wasn’t worth it at all to fix it.
That’s what happened to me. I borrowed an xr off a friend so I could get the battery replaced I then chipped the screen and thought it’s cheaper to buy the xr off my friend than to spend lots of money for the fixes to the se
i just started using my sisiters old one as well as my iphone 14, honestly, if you arent a heavy user, just get it. or wait for the newer iphone se to drop in price. its not worth a more expensive phone if all you want it for is imessage and a few apple only features like find my.
Just upgraded after using the se 2 since it came out. Honestly so nice going to the 14 pro. Can consistently use my phone without worrying about the battery dying or the phone freezing and being slow. Also things like the screen, touch controls, and Face ID are a nice addition.
😂 You tried to come in here and flex. I can afford it and I will never spend over $500 on another smartphone ever. Everything you said can be mitigated with a more efficient workflow.
@@dangerous8333 honestly wasn’t trying to flex. Sorry if it came off that way, just sharing my experience. That’s honestly good for you though, and what you said is probably true but ig the convenience is nice for my personal usage and you get what you pay for.
I had an iPhone 7 for a long time, I heard iOS 16 would drop support for it, so over the summer I saved up to upgrade phones I was sold on the XR and almost bought it then I realized for about 50 dollars less I’d be getting a much newer phone that would last one more year in the future, as I am a person who only upgrades when updates stop it made perfect sense to get the SE2 and has been a good phone though it feels identical to my 7 and sometimes I forget it’s a different phone 😂
I got an se2 when they came out to replace my first se. Was still going strong and I only upgraded because my camera was kaput (don't mount your iphone to your motorcycle) and I was offered a good deal on a 13 pro. But overall, it took good pics (while it did), was plenty fast for my needs, was a comfortable size and the screen was fine for what it was. Never really felt like I was missing out on much whenever I compared my SE to a newer model.. I also just found it more comfortable to hold and use than a larger, bezel-less phone. Edge to edge screen might look good but frankly I just find them way more cumbersome to hold and use.
I have used my 2020 SE since launch and I love every day with it. I does everything I need an more. I don’t mind the camera because I always carry a bag with my laptop and camera gear. This phone is just great. The one issue, battery life is terrible.
The camera is nice imo except for low light, but I’d rather invest in a camera next to a cheaper phone than spend a fortune on a phone that will only ever imitate what DSLRs can do!
I just bought a refurbished SE 2 on Amazon for $150 for my Mom, replacing the cheap Motorola she's been having issues with and hopefully this will provide a better experience.
What can i say bout Iphone SE 2 its definetly the best iphone i got. Snatched it up for $200. I've had an iphone se 2016 32gb for a long time as my personal phone, so everything about it pleases me, plus the speed leaves many more expensive models on the b\u market behind
I still rock the iPhone 📱 SE ( 1st Gen. ) in 2023, it’s still working with a IOS 15.7.9 …I love the smaller iPhone with the home button. But will upgrade to the iPhone SE ( 3rd Gen.) has the faster chip and 5g. But I’ll wait and see. How the Origianl SE holds up coming to 2024. And this is my 1st iPhone since 2016. Upgraded from a Blackberry Curve back then ( former Crackberry User )
I bought a new SE 2022 strictly for the design(TouchID), size and price. When this phone finally goes out of service, I will be looking at another phone without a notch/dynamic island and with some form of TouchID.
Yeah the value proposition of the SE 2 is much better. SE 3 is basically the same and biggest difference is it will get a couple more years of support but that won’t even happen for quite a few more years anyways lol.
I bought it the other day to replace my phone just till the end of my phone contract which is in February and I got to be honest I really like it, its fast does everything I need and feels nice all for £120 refurbished.
I have 2 iPhone SE 2's and both have problems. I need top replace the motherboard for both of them. This video was enough to give me the confidence to purchase at least 1 motherboard so I have one working. itl sure be a hell of alot better than using the Samsung Galaxy A21 that Im currently using
I went ahead and ordered one. It seems ideal for me, since I’m looking for a more compact and minimal phone but I don’t want to go full dumbphone (not that there’s anything wrong with that.) Since I already have an iPad Pro, this seems like the one to get because I can get a simple, non-Android phone for dirt cheap AND it can sync with my iPad. Hopefully my Samsung Watch can play with it at least to some degree because I really don’t want to spring for an Apple Watch right now.
Will you be making a new iPad buying guide? The lineup is incredibly confusing now with so many old ipads (including pros) being relatively cheaper and comparing them to the 10th gen.
I just upgraded from the original SE to the 2020 SE and the performance is so different. The original SE is not good for 3D games, well it was until a new update slowed it down and ruined it (or I had way too much on it). I mean lets take Roblox for an example. Roblox did nothing but crash on the OG SE. The 2020 SE Ran Roblox on max graphics with no lag. I mean the new phone is way better obviously i mean the doubled price it worth it, trust me here. I could compare them with tons of other stuff but i cant be bothered to type this on a phone keyboard. This was pointless like my life. Edit: Touch ID is so much better, the OG SE would struggle with a tiny bit of sweat, but the 2020 SE can figure it out.
SE3 vs SE2 means better image quality, better processor + better graphics, 1gb more RAM, waterproof instead of raindrop proof, better battery capacity + efficiency, 5G over 4G and more updates. I would say thats a lot. If you compare iPhone 12 to iPhone 13 then there are less steps forward than from se2 to se3
Hey Josh great video. I own an iPhone SE 2. The only thing that I didn't like about it before I retired it was the battery 🔋 life. However if you're not a big user of your phone it's great to get and use.
I have 7 daily dose iver phones. The SE 2020 is one of the phones that feels good in the pockets. It also has good battery life. The 2022 is better but, if you come across a great deal on a 2020 SE, get it.
Great video josh! One thing though… you must not ignore the iphone xs when making comparisons as it is pretty cheap at this point considering how premium it still feels and also has the a12 chip which is the cutoff for many new ios features…. Also it has 4gb ram just like the very recent iphone 13 which also means better ram management….battery life is allright, not even bad….. all this for like 200-250 dollars
Yeah after my last experience with buying a used iPhone XR.. I'm not buying used phones off the internet again. Unless it's a hand me down from family (my dad handed me his iPhone SE 2020 last month) Thankfully I just about managed to get a refund for a phone with a bunch of non genuine apple parts in.
Got the iPhone SE 2020 as a work phone and it’s a great phone!! My personal phone is a Pixel 7 pro so I use that for content consumption and camera, but the SE is a great phone for day to day use.
I have an iphone 13 pro and got this as emergency phone, this phone is sick, the SE has the best camera on the market at that price, I got it seminew for like 180$, no other phone 100 or 200$ more expensive than this one takes better pictures, it is insane!
I personally would never get an SE I like the pro max big screen phones but these values are great for those who want to get their kids an iPhone without breaking the bank and even those grandparents who don’t like change would surely love the SE becuz it looks just like their old iPhones but performs significantly better so it really is a great value for those who do not care about top of the line specs!
I'm 25 and don't like change much either, I'm more old school compared to some, I've got the iPhone se 2020 and am using a Samsung galaxy S7 for media etc at home. I prefer the home buttons! 😃 Although I admit with the face ID ones you don't have to leave a a finger print to open it.
My sister and dad both have a SE2 and they love it my sister wants a 13 mini and as for me I'm on android have been the past 5 years but I'm gonna switch back soon for Christmas im looking at the regular 14 the last iphone I had was the 6s.
I ain’t gonna lie I bought a SE 2 for $50 but it has a cracked screen and back but who cares!!! The battery was at 95 and it’s unlocked so I really got a deal lmfao
This phone has outdated design but very good machine, literally the definition of "don't judge a book by its cover"! Thinking to get this and replace my iphone x as daily driver
The iPhone 6s+ is a much better value than the iPhone SE and iPhone SE2 hands down. You got a very sweet form factor with the iPhone 6s+ along with a very good price tag listed at under $150 and around only $100. I strongly recommend people to buy the iPhone 6s+ if you’re on an extremely tight budget making $1 a day. The 6s+ with the big screen is so powerful!!!
Had an SE 2 from 2021 until I got a 15 Pro a couple of days after launch. Loved that little phone, but I just could not stand the battery life, especially as it aged.
I would wait just a few more months and I feel like the SE 3 will be around the same price point. And it’s definitely a decent upgrade. A15 vs A13. Better battery, more RAM, more durability, and 5G. Definitely the most refined version of the old school iPhone design by far. SE 2 is definitely a great phone still tho
Feelings or “prediction” doesn’t mean anything. Heck even if it true, it won’t happen overnight. Beside, $150 and less is already a bargain to most and the SE3 will be an entry level iphone for a long time since SE4 will no longer be in Apple radar. Apple won’t announce new iPhone until Sept 23 so that quite a wait there. Josh is still right. As of right now the SE 2020 is worth buying now…and I agree ONLY when owning a battery case which can be had for cheap.
its not a 2014 era design the first non home button iPhone didnt come out till 2017 and the SE2 is based off the iphone 8 design so its more 2017 era than 2014.

Great video as always Josh! I currently own an iPhone SE 2 and it’s working well for me. I actually watched this video on my iPhone SE 2. Again, awesome video!
When my 8 doesn’t get updates in about a year. I will be buying the SE3 from 2022 just for the better battery life
And the performance upgrade! And the cameras (computational photography 😃)
If it's for the battery life only you'll be disappointed.
@@kid_stizz bought a 14 a year ago
@@kid_stizz and I was ok with battery life
@@RJtoon1 that is miles better, nice 😊
This was the very last time that the SE formula actually worked, fast forward to now the SE3 is a commercial flop. I would still buy the SE second generation over the S E3, it’s cheaper, and it’s still pretty good.
So just because the consumers didn't pick up on it means it's a flop?
Bahahahahaha!
It's literally the same phone but with a better processor and battery.
🤷
I love my se 2 that I got from my eighth grade teacher back in September
YOU GOT A IPHONE FROME A TEACHER!? I GOT A BOOK AT THE END OF THE YEAR! 😂
@@ThatGamerGirlLizz nice
i bought the SE 2 to downgrade from my 13 mini to help me with phone addiction. the battery life is hopefully going to help with not being on it as much, i'm only gonna load it with spotify and my work apps, no social media
i also bought SE 2020 at a very reasonable price, and has been my sidekick for the past 2 months. my complaint is also the same as most people, and that is battery, but it’s not the end of the world bcs it still can lasts me at least 4-4.5 hours on a single charge
I got mine earlier this year for less than $50. Sure it's got a cracked front and back- but it doesn't affect performance. What a deal!!
i use iphone se 2 daily since the launch of 12 lineup and i honestly love it. yeah it could have better cameras and battery but for everyday use is perfect for me
bought Iphone 13 and SE2 but ended up selling the iphone 13 and keep SE as my main phone
The Mind of an iPhone 11 Pro in the Body of an iPhone 8. It’s not only a smart buy. It’s a great savings. SE 3rd Gen is the Mind of a 13 Pro.
The first se was my first phone in 2018 and in 2020 I got the second and both have been amazing for me
Hey,
Can you tell me how the Mic quality is ?
I'm a rapper and planning to buy an SE 2 to record my songs.
watching this on a jailbroken SE 2020. only bad thing is the battery but other than that awesome phone for anyone who likes smaller phones and home button
Thermal throttling? Never heard of it. I wonder if that common?
i just started using my sisiters old one as well as my iphone 14, honestly, if you arent a heavy user, just get it. or wait for the newer iphone se to drop in price. its not worth a more expensive phone if all you want it for is imessage and a few apple only features like find my.
Just upgraded after using the se 2 since it came out. Honestly so nice going to the 14 pro. Can consistently use my phone without worrying about the battery dying or the phone freezing and being slow. Also things like the screen, touch controls, and Face ID are a nice addition.
😂
You tried to come in here and flex.
Bought mine for 200 last year. Horrible battery life but W on everything else
@@maxonite I agree
Still on iphone se 2 and yeah apart from battery life it’s awesome
Remember when there were idiots on the internet who said the SE 2020 was gonna be called the iPhone 9?!
Cool vid! Helped me decide to upgrade from THIS original 2016 SE as it’s battery has finally all-but died. Cheers!
I just bought the iPhone SE 2 and it’s my very first iPhone. I love it but I do wish I had the money to buy a newer one.
There’s nothing wrong with the se 2 . People are always wanting more . Some people can’t even afford a phone
I bought one. The white one and put a white screen from an iPhone 8 on it. Not my favorite phone but better than the others iPhones.
I bought a new SE 2022 strictly for the design(TouchID), size and price. When this phone finally goes out of service, I will be looking at another phone without a notch/dynamic island and with some form of TouchID.
Se 2 I bought yesterday I love it cheap refurbished 92%batery looks brand new
Got a cracked se2 for $30 to see the hype last month and I didn’t take my SIM card out since lmaooo I was using a xs previously
Downgraded from 13 pro to 2022 SE , Feels more comfortable and love the size !!!
had a 13 pro and it was too heavy, just bought a 2020 se and waiting for it to arrive. love the old design.
@@schizofennec yes the pro is heavy
Sad to say but u downgraded
@@Vro_xppy yup he said that.. anything else?
Just switched from android use to have a s9 plus bought this cuz it seemed like a good value and I’m happy with it
Hope this comment is finding you well, I really enjoyed the video keep up the great work 2:30!
I got my SE 2020 for $49 when I switched to Cricket in August 🤠
Much better than the SE3 at least
Yeah the value proposition of the SE 2 is much better. SE 3 is basically the same and biggest difference is it will get a couple more years of support but that won’t even happen for quite a few more years anyways lol.
@@michaelm8188 agreed
Using this phone since 2.5 years pretty solid phone for its price bought it on sale, iOS 16 runs pretty smooth battery is okay for moderate usage.
I bought it the other day to replace my phone just till the end of my phone contract which is in February and I got to be honest I really like it, its fast does everything I need and feels nice all for £120 refurbished.
i just got the iphone se 2022 just upgraded from a 8 i was supposed to get the 11 but the 2022 decent tho
I have an iPhone 12 medium size that is not comfortable to hide. I decided to buy an iPhone SE (3rd generations)
Worth it iPhones of 2022:
-iPhone 13 and 13 Pro lineup
-iPhone SE 2
-iPhone 11
I have 2 iPhone SE 2's and both have problems. I need top replace the motherboard for both of them. This video was enough to give me the confidence to purchase at least 1 motherboard so I have one working. itl sure be a hell of alot better than using the Samsung Galaxy A21 that Im currently using
Damn androids, cheap, nasty. Sluggish and apps glitch on them.
My iPhoneSE 2 is performing well, I just got it last week
Will you be making a new iPad buying guide?
The lineup is incredibly confusing now with so many old ipads (including pros) being relatively cheaper and comparing them to the 10th gen.
Agreed! I could definitely use a new iPad Buying Guide
That iPhone XR style upgrade is gonna be a game changer if Apple can keep the price at the same $400
I just upgraded from the original SE to the 2020 SE and the performance is so different.
Who else’s life is pointless?
The 3rd gen 2022 model is far superior in battery and it has 5G. You get longer support, better camera software thanks to the A15 too. So I disagree.
It’s overpriced for what it is.
Unless it's a hand me down from family (my dad handed me his iPhone SE 2020 last month)
Thankfully I just about managed to get a refund for a phone with a bunch of non genuine apple parts in.
Got the iPhone SE 2020 as a work phone and it’s a great phone!!
My personal phone is a Pixel 7 pro so I use that for content consumption and camera, but the SE is a great phone for day to day use.
I ordered Iphone se 2022 (256 gb). Why? Battery life is better there plus i love its old school design.
I have an iphone 13 pro and got this as emergency phone, this phone is sick, the SE has the best camera on the market at that price, I got it seminew for like 180$, no other phone 100 or 200$ more expensive than this one takes better pictures, it is insane!
This thing is nuts. Everything loads everything practically instantly and I can type one handed easily. Sliding typing
I upgraded from an iPhone 8 to an iPhone SE
Wow the camera quality is a lot better than the 8
I personally would never get an SE I like the pro max big screen phones but these values are great for those who want to get their kids an iPhone without breaking the bank and even those grandparents who don’t like change would surely love the SE becuz it looks just like their old iPhones but performs significantly better so it really is a great value for those who do not care about top of the line specs!
I'm 25 and don't like change much either, I'm more old school compared to some, I've got the iPhone se 2020 and am using a Samsung galaxy S7 for media etc at home.
I prefer the home buttons! 😃
Although I admit with the face ID ones you don't have to leave a a finger print to open it.
i just ordered it, and im excited for it, i think it will at least last me a couple years, and run great
Does anyone else watch these videos as a means to justify (in their own minds) their purchases?
My sister and dad both have a SE2 and they love it my sister wants a 13 mini and as for me I'm on android have been the past 5 years but I'm gonna switch back soon for Christmas im looking at the regular 14 the last iphone I had was the 6s.
Go back to Apple. You won't regret it!
I bought one a few weeks ago just got the battery replaced.get around 6 SOT not too bad
If it wasn't for the smaller display I'd have bought one years ago.
exaclty !
i recently got myself one as my first iphone.
love the music on every video
I ain’t gonna lie I bought a SE 2 for $50 but it has a cracked screen and back but who cares!!! The battery was at 95 and it’s unlocked so I really got a deal lmfao
This phone has outdated design but very good machine, literally the definition of "don't judge a book by its cover"!
Thinking to get this and replace my iphone x as daily driver
I've got one with a cracked back for only 55€. the iPhone SE 2 seems like the best used budget phone.
Nahh brody lmfao that is too old and it’s not gonna he supported soon waste of money tbh
No iOS 16 support makes this a horrible pick imo

Found one of these a few days ago for $100.
Still have my old iPhone SE 2 though ironically enough I got the SE 3 later. So thinking of selling mine, it is still in a really good condition
Josh should i get this or the iPhone xr? Looking for a backup iphone. Both are almost similar in price
