- Hey, I've wanted to sculpt another dinosaur, I finally got round to it. This is my T-Rex bust sculpture, inspired by the T-Rex from Jurassic Park/World, sculpted in medium Super Sculpey. After baking, I moulded it and cast a resin copy and painted it. I had fun making this!
If interested unpainted resin castings on my Etsy store: www.etsy.com/uk/shop/QuentinB...
I cannot explain how this got me. Is all, the way the jurassic park music flows with your art, the details not only in the rex but also in the main support, this is an incredible amazing piece of art on your mind, of your hands, in the sand, in the painting, the molding. You made my night, i totally loved this
thank you from Spain, i gonna sleep so inspired and relax just now.
Muchas gracias!! Thank you very much for your kind words, I'm glad you enjoyed watching the video and that it relaxed you. My work is done! 👍😁

Thank you, I'm really glad I could help you out 👍
Cool ,loved the tooth pick hack ... now up scale to life size for a WALL PLACK ... nice paint job too
Thank you very much! I'd love to do a life size one....watch this space 😉
Wow! Thanks for sharing this work of art! The toothpick dots part must have driven you bananas lol. The fossil/bones on the platform was a great touch!
Thanks very much Adam! The toothpick part was a bit tedious, I just kept telling myself 'its gonna be worth it, keep going' lol I thought of a few different ideas for the base I didn't quite know what to do until I was doing it really.
AMAZING! Thank you for sharing your technique 😄
Thank you! 😀
Wow awesome sculpt 👍🏻
Thanks I appreciate it 👍
Even just a base mass looking good xD

Your amazing at this! Looks just like a Jurassic park Rex!
Well you've just made my day, thank you very much
I know Jurassic park's models are scientifically wrong, but this is awesome, nostalgic
Thanks very much 👍 yeah JP dino's are different but they were inspiration for this sculpture 🦖
Wow the thing you did with the tooth pick was really smart good job
Thanks, yeah it worked out, little time consuming... but pleased with the result.
@@quentinbryantart5684 Liked and subbed because of the toothpick trick.
thank you, I'll have to see what other tricks I have up my sleeve
Quentin Bryant Art the plastic nozzle extension from a wd40 can does a good job too
@@quentinbryantart5684 Hey also you can do it with ear stick too.
Loved it Mr. Quentin!
Thank you very much
You have the patience of a Saint ! It must have taken days to make all that skin texture with the toothpick.
Haha sometimes....No I only did that texture on the head, it took about an hour or so...
Oh my gosh!! This is AMAZING!!!!
Yeah I'm pleased with how it turned out, thanks Laura! Means a lot :)
This is amazing!
Thank you very much!
What is the caly you are using
So realistic the way you added texture to the t rex s skin. You are a master at creating awesome dinosaurs. Love the Jurassic park music too. Classy.
Thank you Janet, you are too kind.
too bad it has the same scientific accuracy as Jurassic park, not just the music... it is 2019 ! NOT 1993 ... then again the has the wronh Donosaurs for its name too, also he is lucky T-Rex is dead for millions of Years, the animal wouldn´t be very amused by another stupid idiot breaking its wrists because they just don´t care about science, only focus on viewers/money
I hope there's nothing wrong about being inspired by what I watch. I completely appreciate the difference between movie dinosaurs and scientifically accurate dinosaurs, I may even sculpt a 'real' dinosaur one day. Oh..the music is Jurassic World 2015. Thanks for watching.
@@gshaindrich Get over yourself, it's not like the animal would have feeling's for it and you.
@@quentinbryantart5684 Good work you should do a whole sculpture.
Looks great! People get inspiration from people like you!
Wow that's very nice of you to say!
I used 'Super Sculpey Premo', I mixed a white sculpey and a black sculpey together to make a grey I wanted.

Thanks for posting the sculpting and painting process here. With that said, I’d appreciate it if you also showed us how you molded and cast such a sculpture as well. I hope that I’m not being presumptuous.
Anyway, thanks again for the video, I found it really inspiring.
Thank you very much! Yes I think I should have....next time! I molded it similar to the Velociraptor frame I made, here's a link if you would like to see that: ua-cam.com/video/ogm9JfsL4Kk/v-deo.html
Excellent job!!!!!
Thank you Max

I am surprised that he didn't get copyright claimed by Universal for the music
Shhhhh the bots are reading this
Ohhhhhhh, ok i mean, this original music is AMAZING!
if you look in the description, it did get claimed just not blocked or taken down, they're probably just taking the money from ads
Well don't rat him out. LOL JK
That's superb, really beautiful, i would've painted it in green/gray but it's also stunning like this...
Thank you very much 😀 Interesting you say it's grey/green because it is actually orange/brown. I have it on my shelf. The painters on the Jurassic park film that painted the dinosaurs say they had a similar problem when they put them on film, they said the colours looked different than they do in real life. 🦖🤔
@@quentinbryantart5684 i can see that it's Orange, i Just said that I would have painted It in Green/Gray lol
@@cougar231000 My mistake! lol I thought you wrote 'wouldn't'. I like that idea of the green/grey colour scheme 👍

This is absolutely breathtaking work from start to finish. When I got to the end and saw you were selling castings, I was like an excited kid at christmas - Don't think I've ever hit the buy button so quickly lol. Hope I can paint it even half as good as you did!
If I'm honest, I think it's a little underpriced.

Looks way better than the plastic model I have from when the original movie came out. So wish I could sculpt but if I could I'd have so many sculptures of sabertooth cats around it's probably a good thing I cant lol
I love It!
Damn thats absolutely awesome! Amazing work, i really adore it! Do you have any tips for beginners? I wanted to start sculpting ever since i came across your channel!
Thanks very much for your kind comments! I'm glad you like it. What kind of thing do you want to sculpt? If it's something like a dinosaur or an animal, look at good reference photos of the animal, get to know the skeletal structure and then surface detail. Start small to, don't go too big when you're beginning.
👍👍👍👍👍 I like it
amazing detail......
thank you very much
Muy bien hecho a todo detalle wow

Supongo que a Sido atravez de la práctica esa habilidad que tienes

Masterpiece! Well done! I want one xD But as a Dino lover since I was a kid, I need to correct you on something :D The arms, can't be portrayed in this angle ^^ They faced each other. That is what I found out, not so long ago.
Thanks! Yeah I found out about the arms too, however when I made this it was based off the Jurassic Park/World T-Rex...Also I do sell these as unpainted versions in my Etsy store, it would be quite easy to turn the arms round after heating up the resin arms 🤔👍😁 www.etsy.com/uk/shop/QuentinBryantArt?ref=l2-shopheader-name
Awesome!

Wow amazing 👏Please make the full figure.
I might do one day
Great job! I am a big fan of your sculptures from Korea! I always wanted to be a good sculpter maker like you but never had a chance to make one... just watching other people making them haha😂 I am thinking to start my own one soon!
however, since I like your sculptures the most, I would like to ask you some questions...if you will read this conment 🤔
How long do you usually take to finish one sculpture like you did on this video? (accept painting part, just modeling with sculpy)
I tried to make one with super sculpy the beige original one, I just keep failing because they get lumpy too easily... How often do you bake them before you finish them?
what is the reason why you copy them and make a resin copy and paint them? just to clone them? or maybe painting on resin is easier?
Sorry for such a long commnet but I really would love to hear from you ! Hope you have a good day and Thank you for amazing videos always😊
Hi ed Ben, thank you. Well, how long it takes to complete a sculpture depends on the size and complexity. This T-Rex sculpture took about 3/4 days. It is important to complete the basic shape first before adding detail, are you using things like rake tools to get the basic form first? Tools like that can really help in shaping the form you want. Baking them depends on the thickness of the sculpture, I baked this one for about 10/15 minutes. I mold them and cast them for a a couple of reasons, I wanted to make copies to sell, and Sculpey can sometimes over time start to crack and fall apart.
Hope that you haven't been asked this before: wondering why you used rubbing alcohol? it seems to soften the creases. You have done an incredible job!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you very much. I don't mind being asked anything, I used the alcohol to soften how harsh the creases looked, skin like this needed to be scaly but a little smooth too. Carving the wrinkles and scales leaves to much of a man made look, softening them makes it look more realistic.
All I have to say is WOW!
All I have to say is THANK YOU!
Great job, Jurassic Park style.
Exactly, thanks amigo! 👍
@@quentinbryantart5684 there's a before and after Jurassic Park on the way we appreciate the dinosaurs, even if there are wrong information about some of them.
I love dinosaurs before the movies came out and even as a little child I noticed that, because at 9 I already have read a lot of books of paleontology and dinosaurs.
The illustrations, cartoons and a lot of things about dinosaurs had another aesthetic, I remember the Dino- Riders cartoon as one of the best and JP it's a little bit alike in the aesthetic of the herbivores, but with the T rex and all the carnivores JP made the next generation of dinosaurs.
The Velociraptor is a deynonichus, for example, and now they wanted to go more far inventing new species.
I wonder how hard it would be, if we try to make another aesthetic with dinosaurs, the appearance strating from the bone structure and make it great as JP did.
You make a lot of good points, I think a dinosaur film, even a Jurassic film in the future could quite successfully introduce realistic dinosaurs.
Hello you have a very beautiful gift, you can beautifully shape the plastic mass and bring dinosaurs to life you are my hero writing from Poland really beautiful Best regards, WOJTEK :) small and enjoys the eyes with a view

This is amazingg!! Makes me want to create one aswell ❤️

What is the liquid used to smooth out the scales with the brush? surely it can't just be water? Want to know, i am currently making a full Trex myself and have made the 15inch armature already.
Thanks! Awesome vid BTW
Hi Luke, I used a liquid called 'surgical spirit', its basically 70% alcohol, you need something alcohol based to smooth out oil based clay like Sculpey. The stronger the alcohol the more harsh it will be smoothing out the clay. Good luck with you T-Rex!
@@quentinbryantart5684 I have Isopropyl alcohol, so i will mix that in a roughly 7:3 ratio with water to make it less harsh, unless that kind of alcohol is too bad. Thanks! Looking forward to re-entering my childhood hobby
Mixing the isopropyl and water might not work, I remember I tried that and I didn't get the results I wanted, unless you've already done it and it works in that case great! If it doesn't you may have to buy some 70% rubbing alcohol.
@@quentinbryantart5684 haven't tried it yet, simply adding the first layers of clay to the armature. will get rubbing alcohol instead, thanks for the advice!
Is it me but the stand holding it up looks like giant shoe, great job love it 👍
