this is purely a guess, but it might not be possible. my guess is that each individual chest actor is hard coded with 1 piece of the combination, so the hack can rearrange the chests, but not overwrite the order with a conditional random number generator. Then again, we are talking about Kaze. If anyone could, it would be Kaze.
@@cullenlatham2366 Now in the post decomp days that type of thing doesn't really matter. It was probably possible to do in assembly (It's a pretty old hack) but likely wasn't worth the effort.

Or to put it another way, i was guessing at the process not at a micro level of coding, but a more macro level of asset clumps, the same way sandbox games and level editors put creativity in the player's hands by giving them predefined objects to place however they choose.
It's depressing the game crashes so much, this is probably one of the most interesting and well thought out SM64 rom hacks I've seen most of them are just lazy enemy spam or 'haha that ground doesn't exist, aren't I clever' type hacks

Don't really like anything with forced resets. It should just kill you not softlock you and force you to reset. It happened with the owl thing and the Bowser hallway thing. Plus it looks glitchy as heck. It froze on you twice in this video.
There’s literally no way to get 1-ups in the ROM hack, as everytime you collect them, you die. Also, the original Unfair Mario was like that, too. Don’t r/woooosh me, I just wanted to clear that up.
