Yesung has a unique mature sounding husky baritone voice..it's a very sensitive quality where he had to put so much more effort to push out his voice w/c makes it more vulnerable to strain..but he master his voice so well that he can get by it.. he's so good in doing his tricks & all..what u mentioned is a definite style of his..he ends w/ a breathy quality in perfect momemts..he also has a specific way in managing his mic..actually, his raw vocals is even more rought sounding than how it seem to sound in studio vocals l..even in some live performances due to specific sound systems..he alwys sounded mature even hack in dehut hut of course, his voice still is a bit diff frm his younger yrs to now..actually, quite all SJ members have very distinct voices..but Yesung is for sure 1 of the most unique ones.. as he said in Lee mukin service..he explores diff genres..so he's not all ballady..btw, hope u do more SJ..esp live performances, u'll appreciate & b amazed by them more..they're underrated total prdormers esp these days..simce they r older, a lot of kpop fams r discriminating them.. what they dnt know, they r not jst legends in the industry coz of their contribution & popularity back then but they actaully r so talented & r of the best for real.. thanks a lot!
I've been SJ & Yesung fan for years and i'm still amaze everytime he sing...he can manipulate his voice to suit any genre he sing...his vocal unique yet so melodious like instrument in music itself

Yesung is an amazing and complete singer. You must also check other Yesung's rock ballads songs like Parallel Lines, Lost Heart, and The More I Love You (cover). I bet you will like it.

Aaah that you reacted to this Yesung cover is such a pleasant (and v welcome) surprise! As you explain the things you're learning about Yesung, I'm learning new things too as an old fan, and I appreciate that. It's always interesting listening to someone explain the technical aspects of his singing. I'm glad you got to discover this side of his which is absolutely my favorite (and I still dream of a full rock album too :')).
I saw someone mentioned his cover of Chaosmyth (also by one ok rock) in the community tab already, and hopefully you consider checking it out too in the future! If Where You Are is right in his comfort zone, I feel like Chaosmyth took him right at the limits of it--or maybe not even?? Because who knows really just what he's capable of lmao he just keeps surprising us fans.
