Darn tough are my everyday socks and I use a lighter coolmax pair with sealzkin sock to avoid blisters in the wet. Work wonders as i use a half a size up lowa boots. 👍
Great topic - men's socks. Good looking guy. Excellent presentation skills. Informative. The best men's socks reviews show men's socked feet. Two thumbs up.
Have to say I've never used any of the sock makes you mentioned so will look into them thanks. I mainly use Bridgedale hiker and light hiker, some of which have lasted me years. Tried some regatta hiker socks with merino recently but they had holes after two hikes.

Good tips for a kid starting up
Good to see all the sock options. Does sound like you might need to do a video on blisters as well.
Always preferred 100% Merino due to the antibacterial properties but pertaining to the durability issues I've moved over to Alpaca. They're somewhat scratchy relative to Merino but you get a lot of the benefits. With synthetic I always start getting itching between the toes - athletes foot essentially.. Maybe I'll try some Injinji - Although Russ you did confirm some of my suspicions regarding the hassle of putting them on. Worth trying I guess as I do think synthetic is better cost and durability wise ..
Has anybody tried, Horizon - Primaloft Explorer Extreme socks please? Are these beter than Smartwool socks? I'm searching for the best I can get, for not the coldest weather, but still winter medium length hike/trekking socks, on rocky/gravel and mud paths. Thanks in advance

This is great . I rate darn tough . Ro to to from japan , sealskinz and smart wool brands . Finisterre wool socks and ARVIN socks are great too . Like a high merino mix generally . For in the tent I like falke socks or ro to to tent socks or in winter insulated tent boots . I used to rate bridgedales back in the day and 1000 mile socks but after some research on sock manufacture and design I really rate darn tough and ro to to . I’ll admit in back in the day I took no notice of sock quality and just thought blisters and sweaty feet was just how it was supposed to be hiking but the the right wool mix and seamless with a good toe box and heel make the miles fly . Look after your feet and they look after you .
100% wool year round. In the Carribean or Mid Atlantic winter.
More great content. Interesting that you have a preference for thinner socks. The injinji's I have are 'trail weight' which I assume is slightly thicker. You convinced me to try the sealskins with my trail runners in the snow & rain for long distances. Thanks!
Thanks Rudy! Let me know how you get on with the sealskinz. They’re an interesting one. Worked really well, just keep the inside dry as much as you can. In the winter I’m going to try wearing injinjis under the sealskinz
Doesn't stuffing your socks into each other ruin your elastic band?
five finger toe socks are all i wear and when you add the sealskinz waterproof socks your feet feel like you dont need any other socks

Thanks for the sealskinz tip. They really worked well for me on Kungsleden. Did eventually soak through but that was after 8 hours of boggy hiking.
Probably never gonna get a fully waterproof and breathable sock, so 8 hours sounds like a steal to me. Did you have good vented shoes or did water sit in them?
@@zBMatt I had a pair of Topo hydroventure. Water leaked through pretty fast though but still ok. Not to sploshy.
