I just ordered and received a new lock with NO instructions or details about what the combination was (it wasn't 0000). Your video helped me unlocked it and set a new combination. Thank you!
I work tech support and have a whole box of these kensington locks from previous users who forgot the code. Had some free time at work today so I figured I'd rewatch this and just have a go at it, and I actually managed to unlock one! 👍
The locking pawl rotation on one side of the screen is a solid piece of feedback, only really useful if it’s not locked onto a device, but good video for the ‘fuzzy logic’ to work through opening one of these without knowing the combo!
I had a different model of lock to this, but I tensioned it off the locking pin, by pushing the lock to the side and pulling, then the combination dials felt tighter when correct.
It's interesting, but if it's all about feeling subjectively which one fits best, for those of us who don't have that subjective sensitivity it's easier to try the 10,000 possible combinations.
Great job Daz. So that's how you do it when a lock has lots of false gates. Have you tried the Rolson lock with a plastic body? Someone I know bought one from B&M for a fiver. I tried to decode it and it proved a bit difficult because It feels like it's full of false gates. Took me about 15 to 20 minutes of playing around with it to get an open and then I am not sure of I just fell into the correct combination. Oh nearly forgot, the person who bought it is one of those who forgets things all the time. So it will be fun to see what she does when she forgets the combination 🤔🤣
This lock is really good, & is not the easiest to work out to be honest, but you can feel subtle differences in the wheels to identify the gates. Then when you have all the wheels in a gate, it’s just a case of feeling the one with the most amount of play. I really hope that this helps everyone when they eventually return to the office. Have a great week Roy.

It's unbelievable how fast you got the combination. Could the procedure be used with many combination locks? I have a combination lock on my bike and now I'm a little worried that anyone can open it so quickly.
Yes that is a shortcoming with all manual combination locks. The main thing is that it takes as much time as possible and that accidental pickup of things dont happen. Keyed locks are easy to open as well.
I have exactly same lock. I am trying my level best but unable to open, meanwhile it feels like a meditation to me.. i have never been this focused before, couple of hours into trying .
Done and dusted . Though I decided to take help from maths ... 10,000 possible combinations. Every rotation along with click takes 2 seconds ( considering how painful it is, calculated based on 3 sec/click ) roughly 8 hours. I was able to crack it in just 45 mins. ( Tried for 1 hour by your method ...i can't match your skills considering your years of experience, ... And shifted course which suits me).
i'm trying to do this with my kensington lock but i couldn't seem to do it right. is there a correct way or feel on how to move the dials and press the buttons? i can't figure out the difference. :(
After watching this video I just took the pliers and rotated the lock on 90 degree while it was still attached to the laptop. Nothing got broken and I have no lock now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so...just turn the wheels until the code is found? Seems like thats what happened here. Didn't seem very methodical when each wheel has 3 gates. That would mean a possibility of 3333 out of 9999 unique codes!
Hi mate I have one of the locks and I can’t remember the password and I’m tried doing what you said but still can’t crack it do you have to hear the click or how it feels when turning any other advice would be appreciated
Hi Brandon, i found that if you press down hard in the button & just start rotating the dials you will feel a slight difference when you are in the right gate. Then move on the next number. You will feel a distinct difference as you get closer to the correct code. I hope this helps. 😊👍
You will get it my friend. Just make sure you press the button really hard, a feel fir the subtle differences in the combo wheels. Have a great day. 😎👍
B/S! Doesn’t work. Can’t get the set screw to turn & the combination# I set doesn’t work either, so now I’m stuck with a lock that I can’t open or reset the combo. THERE IS NO WAY TO RESET THE COMBO ONCE IT'S SET. CUSTOMER SERVICE (SOMEONE IN INDIA,WHOM I CAN BARELY UNDERSTAND, SAYS I MUST HAVE CHANGED THE COMO AFTER I SET IT. BLAMES ME, AND SAYS NOW I HAVE TO TAKE IT TO A LOCK SMITH.
Got my Lock OPENED!
5 mins from you tube, now I'm a locksmith ;D

I’m really pleased that the video helped. Have a great week.😁👍

Awesome, with a little practice its get a lot easier. 😁👍 Have a great weekend.
It worked for me! Thought I was going to have to buy a new lock.
I just did this today and it worked like magic! I’ve been trying to decode mine yesterday. I’m happy I watched this. ❤️
Even more knowledge to file in the old memory palace. Excellent!
Thank mate. I really hope it helps when people eventually return to the office. Have a great week. 👍
Your video helped me a lot. I bought a used locked cable from a dishonest person and give up my hopes.

Mine was locked onto a device and I got it off quickly.
Worked for me although my lock's push button is extremely uncomfortable and painful to keep pressed and wheels are very close to each other!
Yes painful, but worth it.
Nicely done,a good explanation to help everyone, thanks again, billbo.
Thanks Billbo I really hope that this helps people when they eventually return back to the office. Have a great week. 👍
I have one of those type of locks somewhere now I want to dig it out and try it great video 👍🏻
They are awesome little locks mate. But you will feel the subtle difference in each wheel, let me know how you get on.😊
Have a great week

I have a different kensington combo lock and I still can't figure it out, and it is very uncomfortable on the fingers to brute force
Thanks mate you are a life saver
I managed to recover mine
Mission impossible
As always Daz very nicely executed
Cheers for sharing 👍
Thanks mate, these are a little tricky but a lot of fun to decode. Have a great week.

I have never seen one of those locks before, it seems that a strong pair of scissors would be a work also 🤣. Great video mate👍🇦🇺😊
They are great little locks, definitely not the easiest combo to crack, but I think You could crack the code quicker than cut through the cable, 💪😎👍
Great demonstration Daz 👍 Top job buddy 😎🤘
Cheers mate. Have a great week. 😎👍
Nicely executed! As Usual!!
Thanks mate. Have a great week.
Good morning my friend Daz.

Thanks Bill my good friend. Have a great week. 😎👍
Worked for me, thanks so much!
Thanks for the help, i managed to crack it.
Fair play Daz I've never set eye's on one of those before. Keep em coming, secret knowledge is knowledge wasted. 👍
They are great little locks. I was pleased to find the weakness in this one , & get it decoded. Have a great week Wayne. 👍

I usually test 1940 through to 2023 as people use birthdays for the combo. If that doesnt work then it is this method.
Thanks thats helps alot
i'm trying to do this with my kensington lock but i couldn't seem to do it right. is there a correct way or feel on how to move the dials and press the buttons? i can't figure out the difference. :(
Thank you, just unlocked mine..
Hello very good video Good work my friend !!! LIKE !
Thank you my good friend , have a great week. 👍
Nicely done😎👍
Thanks mate. Have a great week. 👍
Thank you!
worked for me, thanks!
Oh, I just use a cut off wheel lol
I cant do it. Not sure what type of a click i am looking for.
I did it by finding the first one then holding the button down and rolling the rest at once until they all accidentally lined up and opened.
I have been trying so hard but unable to open.. by any chance were you able to unlock???
Hey I have the 1st mode of microsaver, how can I do the same without the button?
After watching this video I just took the pliers and rotated the lock on 90 degree while it was still attached to the laptop. Nothing got broken and I have no lock now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well done . 😁👍
Thanks mate
Omg it works ❤🎉

Same here trying, i am not able to differentiate. Are you saying by feel of your finger or the sound?
Iv tried so many time and still have not been able to do it
You will get it my friend. Just make sure you press the button really hard, a feel fir the subtle differences in the combo wheels. Have a great day. 😎👍
I've tried countless times, for days, with no luck. I'll never get the code. (it's the exact lock you have)
Saw the tips you gave in your replys and finally got it. Thanks bro!
