  • We just purchased the Avalon Bottom Loading Water Cooler. After setting up this product and using it for two weeks I am recommending the Avalon Bottom Loading Water Cooler. It looks really nice and most important of all the Hot water is hot and the Cold water is cold.

    This video is a product review of the Avalon Bottom Loading Water Cooler Water Dispenser - 3 Temperature Settings - Hot, Cold & Room Water, Durable Stainless Steel Construction - UL/Energy Star Approved.
    In this video I went thru the setup process for the Avalon Bottom Loading Water cooler. The water does get hot enough to make tea. Be careful and try not to burn yourself like I did. Watch the whole video to see how to avoid burning yourself while making a hot cup of tea.
    My initial review of this product is that it is better than expected. It looks really nice with the Durable Stainless Steel construction. You can have burning hot water for your morning and evening tea. Plus, you can have ice cold water to cool off in the afternoon.
    A water bottle is not included with the Avalon Water Dispenser. A standard 10 gal water bottle cost me $15 at the local water and ice store. Each refill will cost 25 cents. We were buying a case of water every week. The mini fridge in our loft was always filled with water bottles. We are looking forward to freeing up some space in our mini fridge.
    Some of the negative reviews on Amazon say that the cooler is too loud. It seems to make some noise when filling up the hot and cold water tanks. Most of the time it is quite quiet. After having the cooler for a few days, it doesn't seem any louder than the mini fridge that it is next to, with only some occasional noise.
    In conclusion the Hot water is hot and the Cold water is cold. I recommend the Avalon Bottom Loading Water Cooler.

      Thanks for the reminder. I have been wanting to do an update review on this water cooler. The hot water is still hot and the cold water is still cold. We love it! My wife uses it to make a hot cup of tea every morning and my son drinks ice cold water all day long. It can be a little loud when it is heating and cooling water, but most of the time it doesn't make any sounds at all. Plus its a bit of work to refill the bottles. We keep ours upstairs so its a little bit of a work out bring up the water bottles. I am getting thirsty just thinking about it.

      Glad it was helpful! The hot water is great for heating soup and making tea. Plus our son drinks a tun of water. So the cold water is great too.

    I distill my drinking/cooking water and store in glass jug. My question is, do you think the shelf it sits on is strong enough to hold 5 gallon glass jug

    • @ThatHobby
      @ThatHobby  2 роки тому

      There is no shelf for the water jug in this unit. The base is solid so you just slide the water jug in. So yeah it should be able to hold the extra weight. If the spout on the glass jug is the same size as a plastic jug it should work. But I have never used a glass jug so I can't say for sure.

    Have you had to clean it yet? Is it easy to clean? I think this model doesn't come with a self cleaning feature. I'm trying to determine if I should get this one to clean myself or go a step up for the self cleaning model. Any advice?

    • @ThatHobby
      @ThatHobby  2 роки тому +1

      It is more work to clean it yourself but at least you know its clean after your done. Avalon has a cleaning solution that they sell for $14.99. To clean it you turn off the unit and unscrew two screws on the back to take the top off. Then you can unscrew the lid on the water tank to put in the cleaning solution. next you heat it and let it cool before you drain it. I need to clean mine. I will will make a video about it. If you want to look at the instructions here is a link to the manual. The cleaning instructions are on page 20. app.avalonproducts.com/upload/1533755976A4_Manual.pdf

    • @ThatHobby
      @ThatHobby  2 роки тому

      It is still working great. It is a little loud when the pump refills the tank but it's not that bad. It is a pain to carry the water bottles upstairs but it is really nice to have hot and cold drinking water up there. It does take a little maintenance. I need to make a video about cleaning the internal tank. That should be rinsed out every 6 months. All in all it is a really nice water dispenser. I am glad we bought it.

    Are the sediment and carbon block filters required to run this?

    • @ThatHobby
      @ThatHobby  Рік тому

      This unit doesn't use any filters. It works best if you use 5 gallon jugs of filtered water in the cooler. We get our filtered water from our local water and ice store. I have cleaned it a few times and haven't seen any sediment in the tank. They also sell a cleaning kit for it. Is there a cleaning video for the Avalon in the inside? Because after a long time it will get dirty so how do I clean it?

    • @ThatHobby
      @ThatHobby  2 роки тому

      I plan on making a cleaning video. Avalon has a cleaning solution that they sell for $14.99. You can also make your own with a 50% white vinegar and 50% water mixture. To clean it you turn off the unit and unscrew two screws on the back to take the top off. Then you can unscrew the lid on the water tank to put in the cleaning solution. next you heat it and let it cool before you drain it. I need to clean mine. I will will make a video about it. I just uploaded a cleaning video. I am not sure how dirty the inside of your cooler is. My looked great inside so I didn't wipe down the inside of the tank. I just put in a cleaning mixture in it and rinsed it out. But if yours is real bad you may want to put on some gloves and wipe out the inside of the tank when you clean it.

    Hi, could you please advise If you're still using it? Any leakages, breakages, any other complaints so far?

    • @ThatHobby
      @ThatHobby  3 роки тому +2

      I am still using it. the hot is still hot and the cold is still cold. No leaks or breaks. I bought it in November of 2020. The only issue is the pump can be a little loud when it is refilling. That is just for a few minutes. The rest of the time its nice a quiet. It is upstairs so getting water bottles can be a bit of a chore. We drink a lot of water in our house. But yeah it's still great. Thanks for asking.😀

    Did you find out what happens with a 5 gallon jug

    • @ThatHobby
      @ThatHobby  2 роки тому

      That was a mistake on my part. The regular jugs are actually 5 gallons. So that is what we bought for this cooler. The cooler works great with the 5 gallon jugs. I have not tried the 10 gallon jugs jet.

    • @ThatHobby
      @ThatHobby  Рік тому

      Yeah I made a few mistakes. The directions say the unit has been tested and sanitized prior to packaging but that dust and orders can occur in the tank and lines. So you should run at least one quart of water through the unit to rinse it out. We were ok but you should really rinse it to be safe.
