- The most important application of least squares is fitting lines to data. It all boils down to a 2x2 matrix problem. We work out an example and derive the formula for arbitrary data.

You rock, thanks for clearly defining how the least squares solution is calculated in both matrix form and with the simple summation formulas. I finally think I understand how the two correspond. It helped me figure out the MATLAB code for my computer vision course.

Shouldn't it be 'm' with a super script of x^(i)? data points because n and the subscripts are used to denote columns or other features?
