It is wonderful that you are supporting your home schooling families dear Father Moussa. We need more of this Godly attitude across all parishes, the world over. May God grant all parents strength and a strong sense of conviction to do what is best for the souls of their children !
Im 23, me and my wife are catechumans I really feel this deadness even within myself. My mind wanders during prayer, I think about what I will eat for lunch, about some random video game etc. Our minds are filled with so much stimulation and distraction, we have been raised on nothing but filth, to focus on Christ truely for even 1 minute is so difficult. Not to mention when you are as young as even of the generation before us was spiritually dead, I was raised on athiesm. In the past people had more simply lives so even if they were raised outside Orthodoxy their spiritual baggage when entering the Church was far less. Now our generationand myself have become so deeply intertwined in sin since such a young age it feels like an impossible task to pull us out. Please pray for me and my wife.
I too was raised by atheists, or at best unchurched. We never spoke of God. Still the Lord called me and you too. I was a terrible sinner, but now I follow Jesus. If you know you are struggling, you are being called. Start praying. Start small a few minutes a day. God bless you.
What you’re going through is very normal for all who are in the early stages of our decision to offer our lives in obedience to God who has given permission to satan to do whatever he can to make you to decide that you’re not suitable or loved by God.
Get rid of the technology in your home and your smartphone. Use a home office for work and only use devices for work, in that space. Keep your kids off of these dangerous technologies. You have the power to change yourself and raise a spiritual family!
As I walked my neighborhood this evening and observed yards filled with ghoulish Halloween decorations, I couldn’t help but think of all the Zombie apocalypse movies and TV shows our culture has produced over the years. This cinematic fascination with being surrounded by the walking dead, making your way through the ruins of a bygone society, moving ever so silently so as not to call down a mob of violent, listless, brain dead creatures who will tear into you until you become just like them. Then it struck me that we’re actually living that reality right now, but instead of being surrounded by physically dead zombies, we’re maneuvering through the ruins of a dying society facing a mob of the spiritually walking dead whom are addicted to drugs, alcohol, p0rn, politics, money, violence, material goods, narcissistic attention seeking, social media, fame, degenerate s3xual behavior, and radical social ideologies. They are as brain dead and spiritually blind as it gets and if you make to much noise with an opposing view or lifestyle, they’ll form a mob and ‘cancel’ you unless you become just like them. So yes, the youth are dead, but so are the parents and just about everyone in-between; it really does seem like we’re living through the end of days and time is running out.
So wake up and spread the gospel. Raise your own family with awakened consciousness and the love of Jesus. Technology is not necessary, computers are all that’s needed for actual work, nothing else.
It's so sad, but I agree. Its best not to despair, and try to live a spiritual and addiction free life, because in the end, we still are the same as even the atheists in some regard. Not everyone also has the same mob mentality, some recognise the problems with society, and add to that the physical struggle of life, and the addictions, and you get an answer as to why we have such high suicide rates... The world seems to be going out not with a bang, but a very quiet and depressing whimper...
Thank you, Father. I was struggling this week with regards to the home education of my children. It's tough! I was seeking some wisdom about how to approach this, and your Homily here has totally rejuvenated my weakening resolve to persevere and focus on Christ, first! ☦️☺️
"The Lord gives and the Lord takes" I couldn't imagine the pain you are going through my Christ bless you're broken heart so it may heal to become stronger then before
I cannot Thank this Father for such Faulty Sermon Proverbs 22/15 Folly is bound up in heart of a child Deuteronomy 21/18 A stubborn rebellious child etc What did Saint Elisha reply to rebellious children mocking him as Baldhead? Has this priest even heard of 1960s Sexual revolution and that Majority of children today are not born in wedlock ? What did Saint Paiseos have to say about lifelong unrepentant unmarried mothers? The Truth is that the Too Cowardly Church is too embarrassed to face ugly reality of past 50 years Knowing full well if they stop cherry picking but read Bible without omitting a word will be soon be completely empty
Amen. Great wisdom: illuminating the Gospel with the teachings of the Saints and Father's clear and powerful admonitions and encouragements. May we be awakened, strengthened and given hope by this beautiful sermon.
Father, ALL your sermons are AMAZING!! You have such a great way with words! You hit the nail on the head EVERY time! Please make the text of sermons available on your parish website! I would love to read them and keep a copy of them in my files! 🙏❤️☦️
There is a way to be successful in high school, college and beyond without having to sacrifice the spiritual life! It can be done- and a win-win with active participation in the Church!!
I've got a question about the school bit, I understand not sending your kids to school, I mean I've personally seen a lot of very terrible things with school: how we were taught, how atheistic it all was, how crude and degenerate many lessons (sex ed, we were taught that self defilement was good for you!) and topics were, and how removed from Christ the school system is, but... How is my child going to develop socially? I know a few people who were homeschooled, and most of them turn out to be unfortunately very unsocial and depressed. You can work with them spiritually, but even then, they are going to struggle to talk with people at the church. My opinion. I think it's good for children to be removed out of such corrupted systems, but how are they going to learn about the world and interact with people? What if they even see all the things that they "missed out on", and try them as soon as they get the chance? What if they will hate you? And you can't forget that this is the world they live in, maybe they would like to be monks or nuns, but the chance is that they will remain laity, they will have to live in the world. I guess this question is dependent on circumstances, like who the parents are. But maybe there's a middle ground? Sunday School, if you have such an option? College/polytechnics? I would disagree with sending them to a Catholic or protestant school, because most of them are identical to secular schools anyway and promote heresy and non-orthodox prayer services. Thank you if you take your time to respond, or if anyone would like to discuss my question.
Fear the spiritual death of a child 1/15 is something worldly earthly minded parents never think of Then wonder why they have unruly children to put it politely Today a plumber came to visit this Thursday 10 October for third time On his second visit I asked what his grown up son name was as I had heard him loudly complaining about him on first visit Why do you ask he said aggressively So I can pray for him as I heard you unhappily complain on your last visit I replied No he said I do not want you to pray for him God is Judgmental and my family have no time for a God Who Judges We do not need any prayers
Maybe it is possible that when the churches close due to the fear of the threat of a physical death, it makes it very difficult to prove the spiritual life is the more important life to pursue. This is not a direct message to you Father, or to your parish, but to those who wrongfully forced the closures that prevented our children from going to the churches and putting a hole in their spiritual development. Those who would force us to stay home, disallow us from venerating icons, changing spoons, and not attend the holy feasts have put the hole in the development of the youth of today. Not to mention that for some reason, the same people who are doing that, also have decided that we should not Baptize converts to the faith for fear that we may say that others are not Christian. There is no real zeal and faith in those who are leading the Church, therefore the least of these are not being led into zeal and faith. The parents are dead because they follow liberal ideologies of this world in the name of “love”, and they have no discernment for how to call out the lukewarm nature of the leaders.
I ask Father, what is meant by "not punishing" your child. I understand leading. However, not attending my childs same sex wedding or not visiting my son in the home he cohabitates with his girlfriend in, my children would feel punished by my non actions.
Christ is Lord my fellow otakus, you are a person and your life has meaning, we mourn at the physical death of our loved ones, how much so will we on their spiritual. Come and receive the Risen Christ, who gives eternal life freely, this is not the end, but rather the beginning of eternity in Christ, it’s time we all repent of our faults and be saved, death is not a joke and nor is your life ❤

Wonderful sermons by this Priest!
Thank you, father, for speaking so bluntly. These are sobering words. Glory to God.
