In today's new "Let's Draw" video, we are going to draw a cartoon dinosaur!
This tutorial will also walk you through character design, how to use basic shapes of different sizes during the sketch process to achieve CRAZY proportions, and extra Procreate tips as well!
If you struggle with where to place shadows and highlights, here is a video I did awhile back that focuses on that specifically (as talked about in this video....yes, this is an older upload; excuse the quality, lol!): • Digital Art 101: Shado...
Let me know in the comments what you would like to see covered in upcoming episodes...you might see your idea come to life!
This was so much fun! The one I did actually turned out great because of your fantastic teachings. I usually do realistic art, doing cartoon art has been a difficult transition, your kindness in teaching and sharing your skills has helped soooo….. much! Also, your pen set makes a world of difference. Your pens are my favorite purchase of the year. ❤❤❤
Man Gotta tellya I could watch you draw all day and never get bored.
Your one hell of a great Teacher, Thank You Sir
Lou
took the words out my mouth
Awesome looking dino!! Great video! You really should segue to other character designs principles like straight vs curves and the use of opposites. You use them so instinctively that if you broke it down for us, it would be insightful especially with teaching approach. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and skills with us.
Thanks for watching! I appreciate it!
Think you got to get the fact that you come across as:
1) professional
2) experianced
3) pedagogical
4) comfy voice
5) good production
6) relevant content
Normaly it is hard to teach this good if you havent tought it multible times to dumis before.
Thanks for the feedback! Much appreciated!!!
Great job. Learned some awesome ProCreate tips here
Awesome! Great to hear!
Your line work is very neat :) Looking at how many lines you are testing to find the right one, I'm thinking perhaps Affinity Designer or another vector illustration software would be a better fit than Procreate? This way you'll have a very fine control of where your line is and how thick it should be, without redrawing it multiple time.
Hi there ... I bought Your Brushes ... but on my IPAD these aren't working as in ur videos ... I don't know why ... Specially ur Pressure sensitivity Grip is phenomenal ... But in my IPAD it's not so much pressure-sensitive how to fix this ... can u please tell me?
AWESOME VIDEO!!!. also grest job of explaining each step....Thank You.
Thanks for watching! Glad you liked it!
This is something I definitely struggle with. I feel like all my characters are so stiff. I feel like if I can just loosen up and relax with my sketching then my art might look more interesting. So really enjoyed this video it was very helpful for practicing. Thank you, Sir. 🥰
Glad the video helped!!! Starting really loose in the sketch stage will help with the stiff looking characters. Thanks for watching!!!
Megorium I know this comment wasn’t meant for me, except I use an older version of Procreate myself & you can loosen up & relax. I do enjoy the perfect shapes feature, because it does come in handy, except lately I have gotten to use Procreate so much that now I am using the perfect shape features less & less! I do hope to get Procreate 5 some day so I can animate my work!
Amazing bro... I'm UX UI designer trying to design characters.... What size of canvas are you using for this designs?
Amazing video!! i I am very grateful for this type of content. Thank you for taking the time to teach us!❤❤❤❤
I think this is one of the best procreate drawing videos ive seen on here it was very well explained and easy to follow as im new to procreate i struggle to keep up with what people are clicking on flipping between layers and brushes but you went through all the layers brushes slowly and said what they were so i could really learn so thank you for that, i do have one question, for a png do i need to clip all the layers together? also this was an awesome drawing.
Glad you found this helpful! No need to combine layers for a PNG
Thank you for the vids. I have a question for you. I recently started using procreate and I am using an off brand stylus. I bought one of your brush sets and I can't get a taper feel at all. I haven't changed any of the setting on the brushes and I just can't figure it out. Any help please?
It's awesome... Although I noticed you changed the highlights for the thumbnail ;)
Thanks for the tips, I look forward to putting something up on the Facebook group later :)
Yup-if I decide to post just the illustrations from these videos on social media, I usually spend a couple more minutes tightening them up a bit (trying to keep these videos around the half hour mark doesn’t give me enough time to make sure everything is perfect on the first pass, lol!) TIP-don’t be afraid to re-evaluate your work after you are done! A fresh look a little later and you might see something that could benefit from some adjustments! On this one, I didn’t really change the highlights-it was more shadows and adding some extra details here and there on the inking layer. Thanks for watching and look forward to seeing what you put up!
@@BeeJayDeL I think I only really noticed because I couldn't help but see a face in the first one :)
Thanks for that tip - it's something I've never managed to master, though. I'll spend hours on a doodle and send it off to someone only to follow it up with "don't use this, I noticed a mistake," or "this version is better."
If I would just leave it for a little before going back to it with fresh eyes I wouldn't have that problem :)
Uh-May-Zing...Thanks for sharing your art and your skill...It's very cool
Thanks!!!!! Appreciate it!!!!
AMAZING ! :D love this style, I’ve been really into drawing in this style and it’s very very informative ! Thanks man ! Subbed !
Love your videos I paint to and you are an inspiration
👍👍👍
Great vidéo :) thank you !
For your issue with erasing the blur in the eyes, i use sélection into réf layer to get those oval eyes shape selected then invert the sélection and use thé erase layer option into the blur layer, tricky but useful ;)
👍
Really love the cartoonish outcome! Also love the line weight you use, could perhaps be stronger but again awesome!!
Thanks for watching!
It came out looking amazing
Thanks so much!
Miss the Facebook group….
Is there a course or books you can recommend for beginner artist like myself. How do you create shapes and forms and put them together and create something like that? It is so amazing.
No real recommendations other than watching my videos and searching up other ones on YT as well- hope over time they help!
You can try this one. drawabox.com/
Do you post in depth tutorials any where?
Hi BeeJay. I just bought the pack of brushes, but I’m having a little problem. I can see the pack on my Dropbox but I can’t export it to Procreate, can I get some help with that?
Does your brush set work with other stylus pens?
What iPad are you working with?
Thank you BeeJayDeL ! Today I've made your super cool dinosaur ! Again THAN YOU for your wonderful explanation ! Super cool that detail with the airbrush.
Your channel is very informative and helped me with alot of struggles in digital drawing.
Do you do any realism?
Thanks and keep up the good work!
Glad to hear the videos are helping! I don’t do realism- my main focus is cartoons.
This is really Dope. Can you direct me to the starter video's for beginners. I'm sure my nephew would enjoy this. Great Job
Hey BJ, can you do some art for me? I then want to get in printed on canvas. It will be like a characture. Looking forward to hearing from you. Do you also have a portfolio I could look at for ideas for my characture...
I love this and you've inspired me so much to try extreme perspectives and have more fun with it. One thing I don't quite get is the Dino's right nostril and it's placement behind the snout. Excellent work as always!
Hi @beejaydel, I recently bought your brush set and they are great, I’ve been loving all your videos, one thing I can’t find is your pressure curve setting, is there any chance you could help me out with that please ? Thanks Jake
My pressure curve setting is the default-dead in the middle (nothing changed on that front.)
@@BeeJayDeL Thanks bud 👍🏻
Esta genial esto. Me has dado ganas de dibujar otra vez. Excelente Video!!!
When he does the removal of the white from the nostrils, how exactly does the white come off. I can get to drawing the lines with the selector tool, but when I erase, nothing comes off.
you make illustrations easier but looks expensive. It's also great to tell everyone esp to beginners to it's ok to erase and redo lines to get the lines and colors we wanted. I love the outcome, the style and the technique.
👍👍👍
You’re a great Artist - magnificent instructor - thank you for the continuous knowledge and tips
nice
Your linedrawing is just on point. I will need view years to get to get there. Really amazed
Really enjoying your videos 👍🏻 quick question,: what screen protector do you use? Matte?...
Followed your Amazon link and found it 👍🏻
Buon giorno 📽️🎬🤝🙏
👍👍👍
Love your videos brother, keep it up!
Spectacular ❤️🔥
You realy can draw!
Thanks so much!!! Appreciate you watching!!!
This came out looking amazing!
Do you have a video on teaching perspective. I struggle most with those.
I have some perspective videos as far as how the head is drawn in the Cartooning 101 series...might do some other perspective videos down the line.
Amazing! :)
great!!!!!!!
Thanks Antonio!!!!
Cool! ❤️
Thanks Chud!
You make this look so easy, looking forward to my iPad arriving so I can dig into Procreate!
