- Some old footage of my first 4x4! A classic 1979 Plymouth Trailduster (aka Dodge Ramcharger.) Miss this truck!
The Trailduster had the following specs:
-Swapped axles from 1984 w150 for locking hubs and bigger lug pattern
-Part time conversion for NP203 transfer case
-4" lift kit
-33" BFGoodrich Mud Terrain T/A tires
-Mopar 318 V8 engine
-727 transmission
This footage is from around 2006 at Hollister Hills SVRA in Hollister, CA.
Great looking Trailduster. I have a 77 with a 440.
Thanks! Wish I never sold it 😣 I'd love to get one again and either put the 440 or Cummins in it
How am I 40 years old, been into 4x4's since well before I had my license, and never heard of this truck. Once every couple years I enlighten someone about the existence of the Ramcharger. Thanks for enlightening me on this. Glad I went into your video catalog and started from the beginning.
As far as I have been told, the Trailduster was primarily for the Canadian market while the Ramcharger was for the US market. They're identical except for badging though. Wish I could have know how much they would jump in value! I gave this truck away in retrospect ($4500 when I sold it vs $15k now) :( haha. Thanks so much for watching!
Just bought a 84 power ram royal se package, with 89k miles for 700$ so close to running needs a fuel pump and starter and it'll fire
Nice! That's a good year too since it uses locking hubs in the front axle. No full time 4x4 or CAD like the other generations
@webwheeler any idea what logo is under the drivers side TrailBuster logo?
I think it said "PLYMOUTH" but will see if I can find a pic to confirm 👍
It actually is a gold logo that says "SPORT". Thanks for watching!
WebWheeler thank you !!
No worries! Wish I still had this truck and could have just gone and looked at it haha
Man that was one clean Trailduster! No rust at all! Can't beat these trucks.
Yeah it was a super clean truck. I'm hoping to get another TD or RC at some point. Wish I had kept this one!! Thanks for watching 👍
Those trucks are animals
I miss this truck more than any I've ever owned haha
@@WebWheeler I bet. I have an 88 ramcharger and I love it. Extremely tough to find these trucks in 2021. If you have one now, don't get rid of it.
Wise words haha don't let them get away! I still have eyes out for another 75-79 with the full removable top
@@WebWheeler those seem to be the harder years to find. I see mostly 83-93 model years. But even those are few and far between.
she's a beauty! I am about done restoring my '78 and have a few vids (although I baby her a little, she's never been mudded like you did in your video).
Thanks! Yeah I really regret selling that truck- it was a ton of fun and those 70s ones had such great style. Couldn't afford to keep it while going to college but would love to find another one some day!
