Ok, Geoff Castellucci, bass; Bald guy Eli (elly) Jacobson; Layne Stein, vocal percussion (Blue Team); young guy (new member since Oogie Boogiee) Cesar de la Rosa,; The fifth is one of the original members who left to go into acting, Scott Porter. (Red Team) who came back to do this and gave the eulogy. That's the line up here. So glad you enjoyed this. If you ever get to watch Boy Bands in five minutes you will see Rek make a brief appearance. Try Hoist The Colours to see more of their voices. Some previous band members appear in many, but try Tennessee Whisky, or Can't Help Falling in Love, where individuals get to shine a bit more perhaps and show off their incredible harmonies.

The key to the 3 a cappella groups - Pentatonix is the student council. VoicePlay is the music/theater geeks. Home Free is the guys having a kegger in the parking lot.

I'm a 67-year-old great-grandma gamer. My evil son got me started PC gaming back in 2001. Started me off with Unreal Tournament. He regretted it. He refuses to play with me anymore, got tired of getting HeadShot!! Love this cover and what a wonderful tribute to their friend. Some of the group members have been friends since middle school.

I love to see the faces of gamers when they watch this. I don't play but appreciate the drama of the piece.
As a military man, you will appreciate their send off to J None who recently left and joined the Navy. The song is M. Jackson's Man in the Mirror and the poignancy makes me tear up every time.
If you go back to view Oogie Boogie, J is the black gentleman with the ribcage on his shirt. Two of my favorites with him are the Little Mermaid medley and Queen in 5 Minutes. His enthusiasm is infectious.
Scott Porter, who narrates at the end was originally the beatboxer, which makes the red/blue team portion funny as the guy who slapped the blue sticky on him is the current beatboxer (who was the dog Zero with the light up nose in Oogie Boogie.)
Cesar, the youngest and newest (at that time) does the "yodeling". He is very engaging and a delight to both watch and listen to. For a sample of his, watch Butter for silliness and Hoist the Colours (from Pirates of the Caribbean 3) for drama.
Eli (the bald gentleman - whose name is pronounced L.E.) belts it in Hoist the Colours, Queen, and My Mother Told Me. For a smoother sweeter side, Tennessee Whiskey is not to be missed.
The last in Oogie Boogie was Earl, he of the laser tenor, who no longer performs with them. But catch his lead role in Queen and in many of the songs in their Boy Bands in 5 Minutes medley.
If you like Geoff's bass, check out his channel. Two favorites are 16 Tons and Misty Mountains (from the Hobbit).
There! That ought to keep you busy for a while!

Carry on My Wayward Son, Daddy Sang Bass, Hoist the Colours, and My Mother Told Me are some great ones of theirs. Their Halloween song this year is I Got Friends On the Other Side featuring J None who was in Oogie Boogie but left to join the Navy. Some of their early works like Queen in 5 Minutes, Little Mermaid Medley, Boy Bands in 5 Minutes, and Panic! In 4 minutes pt 1&2 I will always recommend.
To see more of Geoff Castellucci go to his solo channel. His cover of The Beatles Blackbird is incredible. He's also done Take Me Home Country Roads, House of the Rising Sun, The Headless Horseman, and Monster Mash.

I really appreciate your reaction! I've never been a gamer, your comments about how Halo affected your life helps me understand. You will not be disappointed in anything Voiceplay does. Two members left in the last year and a half, one for personal reasons and one to join the Navy and sing with them. The group in Halo and Hoist the Colours are current with one featured artist making up for one empty slot. Please keep reacting to Voiceplay. Also check out some of Geoff Castallucci's solo work. He recently did Monster Mash and House of the Rising Sun. Welcome to the rabbit hole!

Loved your reaction. I always love to see someone new to VoicePlay react to their music. To see some of the wonders of the other members check out Queen in 5 Minutes, Tennessee Whiskey, Carry on My Wayward Son, and Hoist the Colours. This is my favorite acapella group because they grab you with both the music (audio) and visually with their theatrics. Enjoy the ride with VoicePlay.

Voice Play has recently lost two members. You recognized Geoff and Eli (ellie)--the bald guy. Layne (the beat boxer) is still there--he was in Oogie Boogie's song. Scott Porter is one of the founding members of Voice Play, but isn't with them any longer (but does collaborate with them sometimes). The guy in the bluish jacket is Cesar de la Rosa, Voice Play's newest member. As of right now, Voice Play is down to four permanent members and are inviting a lot of artists in to complete the five. They've had some really, really talented artists collaborate with them. Their cover of "Halo" is just so great. I was looking forward to your reaction and it didn't disappoint.

  • @Aurora-cv5to
    @Aurora-cv5to 2 роки тому +24

So glad you saw this one. I think it really says a lot about who they are. Probably worth knowing that they do almost everything themselves. Layne (beatbox, was Zero w/ light up nose in Oogie Boogie) arranged this one and did the video. You won't have copywrite problems with VoicePlay. They don't have a label, they do that, too - and they don't block reactor videos.

Yes, Voiceplay are definitely the theatre kids of acapella, haha. Home Free are more the country oriented group, and Pentatonix more the pop acapella. Although all 3 groups have songs in other categories as well. A fourth group you havent reacted to yet (i think) is Voctave. They are the masterclass of acapella. A 12 member group where many of them work/have worked in Voices of Liberty at disney. They are by many considered the best of the best, and their arrangements are amazing.

Adding my thoughts to previous posts since they beat me to what I was going to say: Yes, J None left VP for the military but he's temporarily on leave and joined the guys for another costuming/becoming the character masterpiece Friends on the Other Side from Princess and the Frog. In Queen in Five Minutes and Daddy Sang Bass you can see their family members, which is really sweet. Hoist the Colors is amazing, the makeup jobs are superb. I get chills when Cesar stares straight at the camera. Bringing Home Free into the mix, Zombies vs Hillbillies - Survivor is fun to watch. Geoff went solo (sort of?) for a few really good ones. Sixteen Tons, House of the Rising Sun, and Monster Mash are amazing covers.

I would recommend their "Little Mermaid Medley" and "Moana Medley", each member sings a part, and that includes the beat-boxer. Because Halloween is just over a week away I recommend you check out Geoff Castellucci's solos, he's the bass, "The Headless Horseman" and his new cover "Monster Mash". I also recommend that you check out these other A Capella artists, Acapop Kids (anything), and these college groups Straight No Chaser's version of "12 Days Of Christmas", BYU Noteworthy "Amazing Grace" and BYU Vocal Point "Circle Of Life".

Considering that you want to see the other 3 at full power, VP always is the original 4 plus one guest, you need to go back about 5 months worth, and see "My Mother Told Me" from the TV show Vikings. While Geoff does show off, it is much more balanced on what else is running. The team are completely self produced, Pattycake Productions is their studio name, and they have been a great gift. I started with Oogie Boogie's Song, but because they are playing roles there you do not get the same experience of who they are.

Starting your left front is Cesar (who was brought in when Earl left for personal reasons after 20 some odd years, and J None was recruited into the US Navy for his vocal talents.) who brought in baritone and tenor skills as well as sass. In the center is Scott Porter who was VoicePlay's original beatboxer but left to take up acting. He is in Friday Night Lights, been in Lucifer season 6, The Good Wife and more. He came back for the Halo theme and credit to one of VoicePlay's dearest friends. Eli you recognized, bald tenor - Rock God, In the back, Layne is behind Cesar and Scott and Geoff is behind Scott and Eli.
In the Air Tonight (Phil Collins), Creep (Radiohead)

As a point of interest for a fan of Halo, Elizabeth of The Charismatic Voice did a reaction/analysis of VoicePlay's Halo. Her guest was Marty O'Donnell the composer of the Halo theme and the two of them had a field day talking about VoicePlay and their version of Halo. Almost all the members and previous members of VoicePlay have worked at Disney or Universal so they come by the theatricality naturally. Let me put in a word for Warriors (Imagine Dragons) followed by Dream On (Aerosmith).

Let's Sing is an interesting and fun one. Be sure to turn on the captions, they impart a lot of information on whose appearing in the video; two of whom are Scott Porter and Tim Foust from Home Free. (The look Geoff gives his fellow bass singer is jut too funny.) Warriors and The Phantom of the Opera are almost operatic in sound and very striking. You're A mean One Mr. Grinch, and two from The Nightmare Before Christmas, What's This? and This is Halloween are great examples of why VoicePlay has been called the Theater Kids of A Cappella.

These guys are from Florida. I'm pretty sure some if not all has worked at some of the theme parks so I'm sure to they have has more theater training especially compared to Home Free.

You should ckeck out VoicePlay's The Dragonborn Comes. Also, at the time I'm posting the comment Halloween is coming up so you should definitely check out Geoff Castellucci's Monster Mash and The Headless Horseman....or just any Geoff stuff really. :)

The style of this video is similar to Pentatonix's version of "Dance of the Sugar Plum Faries"

Have you tried listening/reacting to anything by Leo Morachioli? You almost can't go wrong, but Sultans of Swing, Hello, Lose It, Get Your Freak On, Sail (my favorite) and Feel Good Inc are all amazing covers (all as metal). He also did Frozen's Let it Go and Frozen 2's Into the Unknown.

I like voiceplay very much but i am disappointed of this video because it is an imitation of Pentatonix "dance of the sugar plum fairy" from 2015 by which they won their second grammy! Plz react to this video and you will see the resemblance!
Despite that i love your reaction!

I have been a fan of Pentatonix for many years, actually prior to the 2015 video you mention, and really cannot figure out your comment. They are fully different videos/songs and IMO there is no resemblance whatsoever between them. Both are very well done, great to listen to, and have zero overlap.
