Other less popular facts to add: Singapore was once part of British colonial rule. During WW2, it was invaded by the Japanese and in the midst of it, the British Armies went back home and left Singapore to defend itself, to which it failed and was later occupied and oppressed by Japanese captors. Since then, Singapore sought to be self sufficient. Using its prime location as a drawing factor, and with little to no natural resources, trade became the main source of income. And its societal pillars were designed to make sure its citizens remained competitive on a global scale. It was the only way Singapore could thrive, and a no surprise that it's placed top tier in a lot of aspects and industries. As a result, its approach was to establish good relationships with as many neighbors as possible, from the far east, to the far west. Resilient towards international politics, resilient towards internal corruption and resilient militarily in order to defend itself. This drive pushes development to the highest, but with it also comes the high standard of living, immense competitive stress, prevalent inflation and declining birth rates. For bigger countries with an abundance of land and resources, God only knows how much they would've developed and how much further they would've gone, if only they'd spent lesser time and effort in conflicts and fault finding, and instead, put in more towards development, building good relations and elevating the quality of life of its people.
300,000 visitors per day for Jewel! Sorry, that's over exaggerated. The sale and import of chewing gum is banned but personal consumption in small quantities is allowed and not illegal. So far no one has been fined. Sorry again, you are speaking too fast in your presentation, slowing down a bit should sound much better.
Thanks for watching and completely agree on slowing down. Watch my upcoming video on Thailand for a better paced story. Check out this story on the # of visitors to the Jewel. www.trbusiness.com/regional-news/asia-pacific/changis-jewel-receives-record-breaking-600000-visitors-on-good-friday/164915
@@BlindTakes Jewel was officially open on 17 Apr 2019 and your link on the 600,000 visitors was on 19 Apr 2019 which was a Good Friday - official public holiday in Singapore, also when the Covid restrictions was not in force. I visit Jewel at least 2-3 times a week for dining, shopping, groceries, etc. Current weekdays attendance is still low but it is now quite crowded on weekends and gradually increasing local attendance with the easing and opening up of Covid restrictions. Also with increasing tourists.
