    What's wrong with just having a Paraguay or Uruguay Permanent Residency without citizenship or passport?

    • @Hispania_es_un_meme_diario

      Hello!...there is nothing wrong. In my case, I am currently in Paraguay with a 2-year temporary residence permit, and when my time expires, I will renew it again, and then they will give you permanent residence. Without having to process the passport and the identity card.
      If you do not intend to work in Paraguay (my case), then you do not need the identity card or the Paraguayan passport. And in this way, you save yourself the tax declaration. On the other hand, if you are going to work in Paraguay, then you will need these documents, unless you invoice from a foreign company, of course.
      I think like you, if you can live with the residence permit, it does not make much sense to lose your original passport.

    Whats the point of tax free in Paraguay if one can not transfer the money into a bank account in Paraguay from abroad?

    • @Hispania_es_un_meme_diario
      @Hispania_es_un_meme_diario Місяць тому

      It's not worth it, because if you open a bank account in Paraguay, you will have a maximum income limit, which is currently 1,000 USD. On the other hand, you can work from your international account through your cards or transfers.
      The problem comes when you have to pay in cash for an Uber, Bolt, or a product in a local store, because most of them don't have a bank card reader. I'm surviving by sending money to myself, through Remitly, it's cheaper, and that's how I get the cash I need.

    It would be really cool if you can cite the primary sources (law or what have you) from where you get the informations, as it seems it's very counterintuitive to say citizenship is not same as passport in Paraguay and Uruguay, near impossible to get citizenship unless u know someone, there are two tiers of paraguayan passport one for citizens who have access to greater countries and another for mere passport-holders? all this sounds crazy to me lol so i'd appreciate it if you can cite

    • @workwealthandtravel
      @workwealthandtravel  10 місяців тому +3

      All of this information comes from my connections of accountants and lawyers on the ground in each country who deal with this everyday. In Uruguay it’s not that you have to “know someone”, but you need to have specific cultural ties and integrations, and that includes community, which is quite common when naturalizing into a new country. For Paraguay there are not two tiers of passports, however the passport is very difficult to obtain, so PR in a MERSOCUR nation is usually a great alternative that I recommend for those interested.

    • @moncef2466
      @moncef2466 10 місяців тому +2

      @@workwealthandtravel But does PR in a MERCOSUR country allow you to live in those countries for 2 years? I think that's only exclusive to citizenship. But yeah my main issue is with you saying citizenship is not same as passport (which as a concept isn't) in the way you said it i think is misleading. No law in both of those countries differenciates between naturalized and natural born citizens, unless maybe you wanna become the president, like in the U.S. Ofc one has to show ties to the country, be fluent in spanish and live there for 3 years on PR. Love your content otherwise!

      @moncef2466 It actually does differentiate, and this is something my lawyers deal with often for our clients. It’s an ongoing point of contestation in the country which is why it’s mentioned here. It’s important to know about if seeking that route and we help with this.

      @@workwealthandtravel I think it is not that you only get the passport but not the citizenship but i think when they write on your passport "American", it probably means the nationality/ethnicity because having a passport of a country means that you are a citizen of that particular country and this is not a new concept, there are many countries which have that section where they specify ethnicity/nationality of their citizens on their passport. that's just my understanding. Love your videos and appreciate the work you are doing.

    How does one do the paperwork from the US or Canada and apostilles if you have to apply and remain in Uruguay in person during that whole process??

    • @workwealthandtravel
      @workwealthandtravel  7 місяців тому

      You will get an appointment first and then get the documents from your home country, then apply in Uruguay

      @@workwealthandtravel Why shouldn't the documents be arranged BEFORE leaving for Uruguay? Or brought along - or do they have to have a three months validity from any country?

    • @dovygoodguy1296
      @dovygoodguy1296 7 місяців тому +1

      @@workwealthandtravel What I don't understand is how can a person stay do long in Uruguay waiting got the residents visa when you would need to return home to make all the arrangements for relocation and came to Uruguay as a tourist? Especially if you don't know if you'll actually get the Residency or not? You can't leave Uruguay but you have your home still back in the US or Canada.
