might want a ship that's significantly quicker. for example you'd refit the lightning to be a bomber ship that accelerates at the ground to ensure your bombs fly faster and hit their targets before they take off. it'd also give you that window to adjust your trajectory and hit the most important target

In other words, a dive bomber. Ships like these most likely carry just one bomb. How effective is it going to be?

@@賴志偉-d7h The point is that you want the ship to have some velocity downward when dropping the bomb so the time it takes to hit the ship can be significantly reduced. You can easily design a small ship with decent TWR and carry around 5 bombs. Remember to have some spacing between bombs and only place them at the bottom of your ship horizontally to minimize the chance of accidental collision.

That is an interesting question. A small ship with 2 bombs is likely to deliver it before the target takes off. However building a larger bomber with 4-10 bombs can not dive as fast.
Unless it has more thrusters. However then the design gets heavy and more expensive. And is it then worth it, if a KH15 can deliver a similar amount of damage for lower cost, without requiring fuel to fly back to the main fleet.

I've just started a new hard campaign and I'm using rooks modified to go about 430kph and I'm finding them very useful for sudden strikes on garrisons. They attack first and bomb one or two ships which gives my normal attack ships an easier fight.

You forgot to mention a few things, bomb penetration increases with your velocity, and if you're fast enough you can use it as a heavy dumbfire missile.
If you add two more engines to the rook you can fly fast enough to yeet your bombs from the sides or upward against cruisers . This is especially useful against the heavy nuclear cruiser late game. A highspeed divebomb from the top can takedown an arch angel or a borey and a highspeed bomb rush from the side and take out the engines of a negev or komoran.

That is a good idea. Getting more penetration out of the velocity.

funny for a bomb guide to not land a single strike with them lmao

Let us not forget the Kamikaze, the ultimate in guided weaponry.

The problem I have seen with bombs is their rarity making them not advantageous to use. If bombs were found more regularly you could make use of fast surprise attacks with cheap ships. You drop a few bombs have them run away you have a crippled strike group on the ground before you main force attacks.

I thought about attaching bombs vertically the way you did. I wish they would make bombs able to attach on either side, so we could attach them facing down on both the left and right side of a vertical beam.

That would be really cool to have. I think they did not add that because it would require a flip on the object by mirroring it. And then they would have to code for it to only work for bombs and not other things.

Laser guided 1000kg bombs with minor course trajectory and that fall faster would be nice although that could come with its own balancing issues

You could modify a small ship to carry a couple of bombs and a couple of zeniths and have it tag along with lightning strike force. Then if you come up on a tougher fight than the lightning can handle, you switch the order to have the bomber-zenith ship go first to do some initial damage on the tougher ship before retreating. If you could put enough fuel on the ship it could also serve as a courier to move cargo to your main fleet and back to the strike fleet.

The problem is that bombs in free fall move slower than my grandma, who is dead by the way.

I'm not sure if you made this video clips to be funny or not. LOL
Here I thought you would talk about the relation between bomb's velocity and it's penetration, or how having bombs attatched to silent strike ship affects the response time to enemy ships to take off.

Having any bombs attached to a ship makes landed ships take up to 30 seconds to lift off. You mentioned planes... how do planes bomb? They get really close before they let go. Do the same thing.

Is having bombs equipped still causing enemies to delay liftoff in 1.51? Thanks for a great guide!
