Some of the best music comes from areas that are cold most of the year - I know first hand since I live in Wisconsin and have produced some odd and cutting edge music in 2009-10 only for it to gain traction 10 years later.
There isn't much to do during winter, especially when it's brutally cold and/or dumping copious amounts of snow.
All that time cooped upside makes people look for an emotional and artistic output, whether it's music, painting, filmmaking, digital art - etc.
