Hi Father! I agree we have to re-do things for the faithful. Question: Why did the Bishop not have his Mitre on for anointing of the candidates? I am the director of Liturgy and MC in my Diocese and our Bishop always has Mitre and Crozier for Rite of Anointing for confirmandee.

Hi! I mean no disrespect or confrontation. I love discussions. So Confirmation is joining the Catholic Church, right? Why do you need that if you become part of the Body of Christ when you accept Jesus as Lord and Savior?

But the Sacrament isn’t just entering the church or making a personal commitment in faith as many think it is. In the Catholic Church we believe that when people are baptized they receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit (wisdom, knowledge, understanding, council, fortitude, piety, and fear of the Lord). In confirmation those gifts are sealed within us and strengthened (this is done by the Bishop with chrism oil marked on the candidates forehead), this allows the Lord to work fully within us, and through receiving the Sacrament, we show our desire for Him to do so. Yes, I have had my confirmation, and I am sponsoring one of my brothers in a week. While I definitely want to support my brothers on their journey as Catholics, I have a couple of hesitancies-- 1) I am not a big fan of big, formal occasions, and 2) I am critical of the Catholic Church and upset with many of its political positions. I made my attendance and sponsoring of my brothers' confirmation conditional, the condition being their Confirmation be after my final exams, as I am a college student. Fortunately, it worked out. To clarify, I can only sponsor 1 of my brothers. The other 2 are being sponsored by extended family members. Also side note, my family goes to church weekly but I only go with them occasionally; I do not enjoy attending church.
I was confirmed with my grandfather as my sponsor with my confirmation name Matthew in the 60’s. I am still proud of it. Love to see Ryan’s heart moving forward. 🙏🏼

congratulations ryan!! i received confirmation about 5 years ago right before i graduated 8th grade but since i went to catholic school there was not much preparation besides a class retreat we all went on. love how ryan and katie got to go to brunch together that seems so lovely! i also LOVE hibachi and it’s my favorite and my family also goes rarely or on special occasions (we are supposed to go this weekend!) and we always make friends with the other families at the table. love the christening card hahaha i was on the hunt for one the other day because my nieces baptism is in a few weeks and i was chosen to be the godmother and i couldn’t find a card anywhere! hope you guys have a amading memorial day weekend 🤍🤍

My father and I were in the choir,when we lived farther out of town my father drove a bus to pickup families and we first attended a mission and my father was the choir director. As an adult it’s I think less than a year. It’s RCIA program…..Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults I was 22. Our final step was Saturday evening Easter service. Best thing I wanted to do as a child attended Sunday service all the time but my parents had no faith they followed. Congrats Ryan and Katie being his sponsor. Those cooks are gifted.

I saw a lot of comments asking what confirmation is, being catholic myself I can tell you that confirmation is a sacrament in the Catholic Church where the candidate revives the outpouring of the holy spirit, and with it their unique “gifts” from the Holy Spirit! Involved also is choosing a sponsor, who is like another god parent in a way, as well as choosing a patron saint to help guide you through life and prayer! I may have left some info out but feel free add stuff😂

When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, that’s when we become saved, part of the body of Christ, His Bride. That’s when we receive the Holy Spirit. We can’t receive it through another human being.

However, when the priest or bishop who confirms you is performing the sacrament, they are acting in persona christi, which means as christ. In this way, they help you (As Jesus) to bring you closer to God by strengthening your relationship with Christ. Of course, they don't actually have the power to send you the holy spirit, that is Jesus and god, but they act in their place here on earth... I hope that makes sense lol!

Congratulations Ryan. Nothing really made me happy today or yesterday. Teusday evening a stray cat came to torment Miss Mew and I forgot the kitchen window was open. She knocked out the screen and they were off. I think they went to Vegas to get married lol. Alot of the people in my area are keeping a eye out for her. I know she'll be back. I saw a lot of comments asking what confirmation is, being catholic myself I can tell you that confirmation is a sacrament in the Catholic Church where the candidate revives the outpouring of the holy spirit, and with it their unique “gifts” from the Holy Spirit! Involved also is choosing a sponsor, who is like another god parent in a way, as well as choosing a patron saint to help guide you through life and prayer! I may have left some info out but feel free add stuff😂

Scripture says no one can come to the Father except through Jesus. When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, that’s when we become saved, part of the body of Christ, His Bride. That’s when we receive the Holy Spirit. We can’t receive it through another human being.

However, when the priest or bishop who confirms you is performing the sacrament, they are acting in persona christi, which means as christ. In this way, they help you (As Jesus) to bring you closer to God by strengthening your relationship with Christ. Of course, they don't actually have the power to send you the holy spirit, that is Jesus and god, but they act in their place here on earth... I hope that makes sense lol!
