Respect to Irish guitarist Eric Bell, who arranged, recorded and played the original famous guitar riff intro of Whiskey in the Jar, with Thin Lizzy...Eric Bell, Brian Downey, and Phil Lynott were the original Thin Lizzy..Slainte from IRELAND...Eire..
There’s a video of this song performed as a tribute to Phil Lynott performed by Gary Moore and Eric Bell. Gary says Phil said that Eric was the only one who could really play the song. Eric’s performance is incredible.
I remember when Garage Inc came out a station in San Diego played the Thin Lizzy version and then the folk tune version, it was so cool hearing how the song changed over the years
Hey Jack Me Too! Love Thin Lizzy version like every one else but i also like it when a guy picks up his guitar and sings it straight out! This version not so much! A female singing it changes the whole concept of the song! Not saying she'as a bad version but not my cup of tea yea!
Thin Lizzy is the best version if you have seen them live you would agree, this is pretty good though not like Metallica which I think is pretty sh#;e.
I used to go to an Irish-themed pub (lol) in Virginia called the Auld Shebeen. Sometimes they had an Irish band in, and they played this song (the original version, the folk song). Cool to hear a bluegrass version, I do enjoy me some banjos and fiddles.
I always like it when an artist can take a classic song and put their own spin on it without it sounding like sh*t. Kudos to Wild Mountain for pulling it off.
The original Irish song lyrics is whiskey in the jar but Thin Lizzy sang whiskey in the giro (Giro being the transfer of unemployment money into the unemployed's account)
RENE ! What a great assembly of players! The material is jaunty and enjoyable...my father used to take me to bluegrass festivals! The musicians are all stand-outs. I love the arrangement and the way the song builds as you add the instruments in...THEN you add your sweet/salty taste of your 'FIDDLIN'...Vocals are great and the harmonies add that sweet sprinkle on top. As a fellow musician, my words here are a gesture of support to you all... [bluegrass deprived California gal. + = = RLB = = +
So here's the thing. I discovered the Bluegrass channel on Sirius, so tonight I thought I'd look up Irish Bluegrass on here and their Danny Boy popped up, then this one. I think I might have found a new band to like.
An Irish song, covered by Metallica. Thin Lizzy 99.5, Metallica 0.5. That is not to say Metallica's version is bad. Far from it, it's awesome. But this is a tune very dear to Irish hearts. So Thin Lizzy all the way.
Made popular by Metallica? WTF.... I Love Metallica, but this song is legend before they were a spark in the father's eyes or their father's father's eyes.
This woman has an absaloutly stunning voice however I did not enjoy this rendition of this song. Personally i think it sounds better in the traditional irish fashion but it's not something other countries may see too easily . I can definitely see why others would like this but it's personally not for me . Will give some of your other covers a listen though !
Ain''t I Happy I Have A Big Screen And A Hip System YES Wild Mountain Is The Kinda Band I Can't Live Without
Really like this new ' Greengrasss blend. We sent our songs and stories to America. Now ya'll are returning it with an Merican twist.Keep her lit..!!

A traditional Irish ballad popularized by Phil Lynot of Thin Lizzy. Metallica released a cover version later.
that's right...
Metallica version is mega superior though.
Thanks for setting the record straight! Thin Lizzy forever.
@@dooglesw thats right bro..🔥🤘🔥
This was originally an Irish folk song. We’ve come full circle.
I remember when Garage Inc came out a station in San Diego played the Thin Lizzy version and then the folk tune version, it was so cool hearing how the song changed over the years
I like the bartender in the background minding his business like nothing unusual is happening and nothing is being recorded.
Gran trabajo! Saludos desde España
Great voices n harmonies!!
I've been on a Whiskey in the Jar phase the last couple of days, listening to a multitude of versions; this is one of the best.

@@rockinrobb4350 You may already know the Colin John Rudd version; if not give it a listen ua-cam.com/video/ElCRHdYX64g/v-deo.html

Thin Lizzy rocked this song
Perfect
very good rendition of a thin lizzy classic

The original Irish song lyrics is whiskey in the jar but Thin Lizzy sang whiskey in the giro (Giro being the transfer of unemployment money into the unemployed's account)
That is a beautiful fiddle and player thank you
Great :-)
sang this in 7th grade music class in 1958
Hi there, do you know " no, no never " from Texas Lightning ? Might fit perfectly for you.
Powerful performance.
Metallica? It was a hit in 1962. I don't particularly like this version, but that girl singer gives me chills.
great!!
SO BEAUTIFUL
Its like a mix of metallica lyrics with the originals lyrics in a bluegrass version. My mind is mush now
Amazing!
The Dubliners had this song in 60's
UALL LOVE THIS GIRL VOCAL
Matallica has brought a great cover and this is as well a great version, I love her voice, but it was made popular by Thin Lizzy!!!
Great, so well done I could listen for hours. I think I will!
very very good, great Version.
Glad I came across this different version well Tidy
Zajebiście
Sprightly, still love the Thin Lizzy version though....

someone's never heard of Mr Phil Lynnot ........... Sad !
Очень душевно спели. Молодцы!
I think Philo himself would flash a smile for this version :)
Yeah!!! That was awesome!!!!
the more i hear it the more i like it, great vid and mix, well done back room boys
You need to watch the thin lizzy version as well. I was disgusted by the metallic video with all the drunk and puking...
Metallica? How about Thin Lizzy.
Kenneth Löjdkvist We love Thin Lizzy as well. Phil was a genius.
how about from the days of the traveling minstrel
Exactly - What about Thin Lizzy
How about The Dubliners?
The Dead
I like this version but it was also done by the Limelighters in the 60s
Very well done cover of this song
great
Nice cover! Greetings from the Netherlands :)
I BELIVE ITS WHACK FOL OR FALL THE DADDY O BC WHAT UR SAYING IS HILARIOUS LOOK UP THE DUBLINERS
HAHAHAHAA
👍👍👍👍🎸🎸🎸🎻🎶
Outstanding performance! I subscribed!
Love this song, fantastic version
This is how it's done right.
Good cover guys!
i'm sorry, I must have dreamt Thin Lizzy when I was a nipper XD
The Dubliners and the Pogues did it best.
Signed.Metallica totally took the vibe out this great Irish song and just made it to one of those boring Metallica songs.
Room for all versions that's the beauty of music it's also to some extent a compliment to the tune, enjoy all.
This so cool!
I'd say The Dubliners made this song popular. That's coming from a Metalhead. Lol... Also, sounds great.
Andrew Wilson, And I for one would not argue with you.
this is fun, I like it, don't get me wrong but not bluegrass
Nope, it's Greengrass!
When you hear a banjo, paddle faster..... squeal piggy squeal
Miyras😎
Made popular by Thin Lizzy, perfected by the Dubliners. With respect, Wild Mountain perform it well in their own way but it ain't bluegrass.
You are correct! It's not bluegrass, it's Greengrass!
Ha ha! Very good, Andy. It's alehouse astroturf, not that there's anything wrong in that.
the song is much older than thim lizy, that's what they say to him ... you lack culture

Jamesons whisky is pretty rough
Thin Lizzy made it popular... Metallica did it very good
Why didn't they do they actual folk version? Fair play to them.
An Irish song, covered by Metallica. Thin Lizzy 99.5, Metallica 0.5. That is not to say Metallica's version is bad. Far from it, it's awesome. But this is a tune very dear to Irish hearts. So Thin Lizzy all the way.
Metallica is the best for this song
Damn right..
Not really.
THIN LIZZY not metallica
всё до пенни всё из за молли
I never liked this song till I saw this video.
"Made Popular By Metallica"
Implying it hasn't been a popular song since the 1700s
It’s partially a trick to get into search engine results. Metallica did give it a boost tho
Nice version, as good as this song is, it still gets boring hearing it sung and played the same way all the time.
They are singing whiskey in the GIRO, without realising the pun. Unless they do.
Made popular by Metallica? WTF.... I Love Metallica, but this song is legend before they were a spark in the father's eyes or their father's father's eyes.

Way better than metallica any day
