Liking these on course vids. Two golfers that are pretty even matched and seem to be best of friends. They have good time making vids and yet they still want to beat each other. We should all be as lucky as Pete & Rick. Two good golfers.., two good friends and they make I would think a pretty good living as golf instructors. Not too mention they travel the globe playing some amazing courses. How many of us can say.., we love our job?
his putting is a lot better now i'd say. With aimpoint he seems to get greater lines and most of the time the pace is perfect, but Pete's short game is incredible and definitely the strongest part to his game!
Pete, nice of you to try to give Rick a mental boost. It's unfortunate that he notices all the good things in your game and all the ball things in his own game. Great birdie putt on the last!
Nice job gents! I would love to see a serious, stroke play YoutTube golf tourney. The field could include: Peter Finch, Rick Shiels, Andy Proudman, Piers Ward, Seb Carmichael-Brown, Mark Crossfield, Matthew Lockey, Matt Fryer, James Buzza, Andy Carter, and any others you know/can find. No teams, no match play. Serious golf with good course management. None of this "do it because thats what UA-cam wants," none sense. This would could really help you in your Quest for the Open!
I would settle for a completely serious 18 hole stroke play match just between these 2. Just to kind of get a feel for what these guys play like with a proper warm-up and focus on every shot.
Hey Rick and Pete, really enjoy watching you lads play golf. You should keep in mind, in New Zealand (and other commonwealth countries) it costs $70 a month to watch the PGA rounds on TV, so to watch you lads for free, is so much fun! And you both play so well its like watching the "real thing". Keep playing together, and sometimes play as a team against other teams and I will always watch your games!! keep it up!
These guys are PGA teaching professionals, and good ones. They are more than capable of reviewing footage of their own swings and games and identifying issues. They don't need 'Steve and 26 handicap from Solihull' to tell them they are poor putters, or poor wedge players. The lads are out in Portugal having a laugh and they are Filming it for us to watch and enjoy. So just be quiet.
Remember playing there in a Pro-Tournament in 1986, I loved it! That 1st tee shot. in my opinion, was a lot tougher looking than on this video! I stood on that elevated tee and scuttled back to my bag for a 5 iron, I thinned it a bit but put a 7 iron to 5 feet, birdie. Even greened a 3 wood on the second to be -2 after 2. LOved that week, even stayed at the Dom Pedro Hotel!
Great vlog guys; I remember that 1st hole on the Old Course so well. My drive went the same route as Peter's though not as far obvs…I also recall the number of times I heard folk hitting their golf balls into the trees; sounded like a horde of woodpeckers at times. Can't wait for the next installments. Cheers
What I like about Pete's swing is that he maintains that spine angle in his finish pose instead of immediately stand up strait after the swing finish , you don't see that allot .
Even though you were playing through on No. 2, picking up the putts on the green surprised me. There's no reason they couldn't have waited. I treat these situations like they weren't even there.
Pete you gota tell me what is that little pre swing drill that you do with your your right elbow and left hand ? it looks like your checking a swing plane move with your right arm
One thing I could suggest is for the holes you use pro tracer, only show that tee shot, you always show the standard tee shot then the pro tracer which isn't really necessary in my opinion
"Going down an emotional recess it's going to be hard to come out from, pick yourself up" as an American I believe we would have said that differently. None the less said well for a friend in need of some help in turning around his game.
You had to be putting from the edge of the green on the 3rd there Rick. 11 times out of ten. There's a video with Nicklaus talking about that and advice Palmer gave him in regards to chipping or putting.
Rick's 2nd shot of the day was sweet but could have been disastrous. The group in front was pin high and just to the left when the ball was like 90% through its flight.
Ryan Mclaughlin, it is, indeed, the Toe Up putter. Pete did a putter-fitting video where the Toe Up was best for him, much to his surprise. It's a bit odd looking, but whatever works...
A tourney would be sick man winner takes trophy. Rick, Pete, jame Godard or How ever you spell it, both me and my golf, Andy with the power swing, Matt fry, seb, that be sick
You almost always play match play. This is fine, and is a good choice for a friendly round. I just thought that you should do stroke play more since that is what your competitive rounds will be.
I think I saw Rick post about the Shot Tracer app a while back but that may be my imagination. It's 9.99 on the appstore but the reviews are pretty bad
peat is 100% right, rick you have got to learn to pick yourself up. When you continue to sloth around your game will just get worse. Keep it up mate. you have what it takes, use it!
That way of reading putts is so...awkward to look at as an outsider. I feel like if I played with someone that did that, it would probably throw me off my game, mentally.
Rick just isn't a good golfer, unless he's doing club demos and editing out his (75% on average) rubbish shots. His (block it right) wedge play is plain awful.

Pete, your short game and wedge game is unbelievable, love watching these vlogs to encourage me to get out and improve, cheers to both of you!
samartin94 what's your opinion of his putting?
his putting is a lot better now i'd say. With aimpoint he seems to get greater lines and most of the time the pace is perfect, but Pete's short game is incredible and definitely the strongest part to his game!
it's getting better, nowhere near where I need it yet but getting there
you can definitely see the improvement though, just watched the third part and it was spectacular, well played Peter!
"We've just been let through so we have to be quick".... dances on the tee box, blocks it out right 🤣
Pete, nice of you to try to give Rick a mental boost. It's unfortunate that he notices all the good things in your game and all the ball things in his own game. Great birdie putt on the last!
cheers Howie, he needs a pick me up every now and again :)

i would happyli fly over there and be camara man/ commentary for them :D
Colby McCormick Steve Johnston, Ali Taylor, SAS and don't forget Fletch!
I would settle for a completely serious 18 hole stroke play match just between these 2. Just to kind of get a feel for what these guys play like with a proper warm-up and focus on every shot.
stay tuned :)

You guys are living the dream. Amazing content from Portugal!
awesome place to play

Im from solihull :-)
Welcome to the internet, friend. We're all PGA pros on here.
Nice to see a polite group in front letting you Pros play through!!

a horde of woodpeckers, oh my
Love this course!!
What a beautiful course, getting major Olympic Club vibes from this one.
Learning a lot from youre course management. Thx! 👍
Nice looking greens, great looking course tbh
Wouldn’t you just love a swing like Peter finch. It’s just pure class isn’t it. Ernie else class.
Great vlog as usual, love the pair of you together!
cheers Austin
Great series this, love this course.
cheers Stuart
Played that last hole a peach Pete, cracking shots
cheers Kyle
love this course!
me too!
Love these Vids - keep em comming
will do James
Lovely birdie Pete! Rick, I'm thinking maybe it's the beard that's jinxed your game..
Cork trees. Love the Old course. Lovely memory of taking €150 of 3 Irish guys with a level par round! 🙂
I hope you bought the drinks afterward :)
Think I cleaned them out. My wife and kids met up at the clubhouse and we had a beautiful lunch courteously of my playing partners. 😏
What I like about Pete's swing is that he maintains that spine angle in his finish pose instead of immediately stand up strait after the swing finish , you don't see that allot .
I went there last year amazing course
love it here
Even though you were playing through on No. 2, picking up the putts on the green surprised me. There's no reason they couldn't have waited. I treat these situations like they weren't even there.

Rick you love the trees
"Going down an emotional recess it's going to be hard to come out from, pick yourself up" as an American I believe we would have said that differently. None the less said well for a friend in need of some help in turning around his game.
I played there before! Such an amazing course, I think a Faldo design but enjoy!!
Martin Hawtree designed it!
Frank Pennick designed it. Hawtree was involved in alterations
Mr P Finch can u please explain what u are doing with ur left hand under ur right elbow before u tee off. thank you
Personally , I loved tuff courses , the tighter the better . As long as the greens are good enough to give you a chance to get up & down .
You had to be putting from the edge of the green on the 3rd there Rick. 11 times out of ten. There's a video with Nicklaus talking about that and advice Palmer gave him in regards to chipping or putting.
12:55 when hes talking about the house is pretty funny
lol
Rick's 2nd shot of the day was sweet but could have been disastrous. The group in front was pin high and just to the left when the ball was like 90% through its flight.
Keep these vlogs coming, the courses in Portugal look amazing.
Are you two going to make the trip down under soon?
would love to, it's just getting the opportunity to come over
Busy playing golf all day and night. I hope you guys are going to be o.k.
it's tough but we'll get through :)
I had my stag do at that house, we rented if for the week!! Some very strange goings on happened in that bunker !!! Lol
Just wanted to ask you Pete what putter is that you are using
Calamity Sports pretty sure it's the oddyssey toe up putter
Ryan Mclaughlin, it is, indeed, the Toe Up putter. Pete did a putter-fitting video where the Toe Up was best for him, much to his surprise. It's a bit odd looking, but whatever works...
Toe Up putter from Odyssey
What app doe you guys use for shot tracer?
it's called Shot Tracer
A tourney would be sick man winner takes trophy. Rick, Pete, jame Godard or How ever you spell it, both me and my golf, Andy with the power swing, Matt fry, seb, that be sick
we are getting something sorted very soon
another cracking vlog! did you play Victoria? Played there last week, was immense.
4:06 I’m watching this after the summer 2018 heatwave and I live in London 😂😂
Got to putt it right there Rick! @16:00
nice course
You almost always play match play. This is fine, and is a good choice for a friendly round. I just thought that you should do stroke play more since that is what your competitive rounds will be.
it's more to do with convenience of filming on a busy course
Rick misplaced his ball on the last hole 😂😂😱😱😱😱😱😱
Darren Peckitt hehehhe... preferred lie i think is within one scorecard of original lie. Lets not get grizzly adams more upset 😂
Nice Birdy Pete
Nice. Love that course too... you guys may have played it better though! 😂😂
Sure is. Have you played Monte Rei? If not, get there next time you're out. Different gravy!
Haha can't believe you didn't shout about Pete's put at the end hahaha #moodon
What camera do you use? The quality is outstanding! Keep up the awesome content!!
GH4 here
What app do you use for the pro tracer?
Dorian Grault I'm always wondering that as well
There is an app for 9.99 on App Store but I want to know if they just edit in!
I think I saw Rick post about the Shot Tracer app a while back but that may be my imagination. It's 9.99 on the appstore but the reviews are pretty bad
it's called Shot Tracer
Peter Finch Golf thank you Peter! Loving the Portugal videos keep up the good work
When I played here last year I was much further right off the second tee than Rick😄😄
nice work as always guys. Rick ya gotta work on them dance moves lol.also everyone check out mood swings golf. not to shabby
coming to a stage near you soon
What shoes Pete wearing look sweet?
Drew L they are the footjoy contour fit boa
FJ Contour's
Liked
what is you guys hcp
the trees are italian stone pines
You guys paint the tree trunks in the UK like in Mexico😂
It would be interesting to see you two play a round where the rule is: only 3 tour-legal clubs in the bag!
3 wood, 7 iron, sand wedge. putt w/ the wedge.
Rick are they gamegolf tags in your clubs? You dont use it do u?
peat is 100% right, rick you have got to learn to pick yourself up. When you continue to sloth around your game will just get worse. Keep it up mate. you have what it takes, use it!
*Pete SO SORRY!!
Peat forgives you :)
I'm surprised Rick isn't using his wedge chart more. He just says full lob but he made that chart for a reason. Right?
didn't his ball end up pin high? seemed pretty decent to me, just a bit directionally challenged
Why did Rick step on his line on the first hole.
so sad you didn't do a meet up :(
no time I'm afraid :( we didn't stop for three days
Rickter scale joke earned a like
Rick will always just be a driving range pro
With 1.3million subs😂
I just saw the green fee. lol! Why is golf so expensive in Europe? ridiculous.
7:05 questionable 😂
nervous hands.. you were shaking on the first when holding the camera Rick.. you might be right
That house at 13 minutes looks like a community centre 😕
haha
Why does Rick stand over his line ?
I guess in the UK you're allowed to walk on each others line on the putting surface...?
If I was rich , I would send Rick to Dave Pells short game school for a week ....lol.
Why doesn't rick have the spider putter!!!!!!!
Not a fan of the full lob wedge shots.
More shots less talk, not saying I don’t enjoy the conversations, though. It can be excessive sometimes tho
Point taken Nolan
Did you forget to switch on the optical image stabilisation on the camera? Super jerky on this vid, not like your usual smooth video.
I'm sorry but I need to know. If Rick is sponsored by nike, how come he use the same shirt, every time?
rickkkkk!!!! go back to your draw, your whole game will thank you! and youll have more fun which makes it more enjoyable for us to watch.....
What a putt
Rick I own that house.
Your welcome to come over anytime and we can have a round together.
👍
That way of reading putts is so...awkward to look at as an outsider. I feel like if I played with someone that did that, it would probably throw me off my game, mentally.
Video is grainy so very disturbing
Zfirst ahha
l hate watching pete put..standing over the line...looks silly
Rick just isn't a good golfer, unless he's doing club demos and editing out his (75% on average) rubbish shots. His (block it right) wedge play is plain awful.
This is for your entertainment, if you don't like it don't watch.
The Real Hillary Clinton ok Hillary. You have plenty of spare time let's go for a game?!
Rick Shiels Golf hahah don't listen to hillary rick she lost 😂😂
Rick Shiels Golf I'll send Donald, he's more on your level.
The Real Hillary Clinton just dont understand y u have to comment yhat about rick ? !
