Shout-out to McAvoy and Brodin too. McAvoy gets overshadowed by the rest of the Bs, but he's a quality top line guy. I forget who was answering the question, but some head coach said that Brodin is the guy he'd pick to defend McDavid, which automatically makes a defensemen very good in my book

I noticed a shift in the mannerisms and the way hockey players and interviewers, fans talked from when I was a kid in the late 80's and 90's playing hockey. Guys like Chelios, Yzerman, Linden etc just talked like average people. I mean they may have had accents where they were from but hockey didn't have like a lifestyle and slang that permeated everyone surrounding the sport. For example like skaters and surfers typically just really embrace the whole lifestyle with the dress and lingo etc. That's hockey now days. Everyone seems to have adopted the long hair "flow" persona and all talk with an upwards inflection at the end of sentences and say things like dusty, dirty and dangle so on and so forth. It's very surfer/bro esque. Now days seems like such a lifestyle sport where you have to act the part more than it used to be. Just the contrast between these younger guys interviewing Chelios and his mannerisms made me think of that.
Slavin is worth being in this list. He gets a bad wrap bc he doesn't score as much as others. But so much of hockey isn't scoring and he is against the best lines every night and has a ridiculous plus minus.

Another underrated one that hasn't quite had the opportunity to shine yet because of injury, also on the Avalanche, is Bowen Byram. Kid's got a lot of hidden potential and I'd love to see him shine this next season if he can keep healthy.

As he walking to the taxi there was young teen in a wheelchair that had a sign that showed he was a chelios fan. The young teen was waiting for an autograph. Chelios just walked past him, he didn't say a word and he got into the taxi.

I played NHL hockey EA sports for 35 years and Chelios was in every one of them.
Hedman slowed down a little bit because he's played so much hockey in the last few years, but he's still top 5.
