How to make a simple fish tank - Aquarium design

かなり完成度が高いですね。
苔や水草、小石、金魚まで、もうこれは、技術工房の芸術と言っても過言ではないと思います。
わたしは、庭がない集合住宅の３階に住んでいて、エアコンのドレン排水を利用して竹ししおどしを作りました。
そのため、６月〜９月の時期に限定され、室外機を台やラックなどに乗せるか、室外機を天吊りにするかなど、ドレン排水の、落差が50センチ以上必要で、室外機が低いとドレン排水の落差が足りずししおどしが反転出来ません。ドレン排水は、点滴並の排水量ペースでエアコンの運転状況で排水が変動し、庭池のようなししおどしだと、反転周期が、５分以上もかかるので、竹筒直径500円玉位の大きさでししおどし本体を作ります。

At 17:46 , why did you fill it up, put plants in there, and drain it again? Was this a drainage test to see if there are any leaks? I'm a little confused.

I think that specific plant he used might "bleed" something from the trunk that acts as a cleaning agent. You'll notice after he scooped it out and drained the water, that he scrubbed the walls. It probably helped to clean/purify the walls of any pathogens, particles or even metals that are harmful to fish. That's my best guess, though.
