I overthrew a restaurant that was run by a cult

Anyways, I found a loophole in the Yellow Deli's restaurant. They only use slave labor, and slave labor goes against California's minimum wage law. There's a cool little loophole that the twelve tribes group uses to get around this and continue running their business... so I'm using that same loophole against them, and I'm making all of my friends become owners and, the plan worked, and now we own the restaurant!

Don’t the police have to have basic English skills before being employed in the US?
In the UK if you go straight from school with basic passes in English, maths and 3 other subjects you have to do a short 30 week or so course before starting a 3 year training apprenticeship.
If you have obtained A levels you can do a shorter 2 year learning and development program or if you have a degree you can get a short university course followed by mostly on the job training mixed with a bit of academic work for two years again before being given a diploma and being a police officer.
I think people often do degrees related to the law or policing before joining so they can fast track to higher ranks.

I wouldn't recommend he does. The cult has multiple locations and thus additional employees/owners. Also, if they have managers, regular employees might not have firing power, even if voted on. Going to court costs money and they'd have to prove a lot to make their case, and a court would still likely side with the regular employees/owners. Court isn't like tv, and so I don't recommend being litigious unless you have a good case and you're willing to risk losing and going through the expense. You also open yourself up to a lawsuit they may win because they documented themselves trying to gain equity in a company via fraud and all an attorney has to do is ask if the other party tried to knowingly lie and mislead to try and gain ownership of a company.

"Fire", nah. They may get a weeks leave tho.
mmmm cops get away with worse in this country i doubt anyone would be fired since many who murder people (including wives and children's lives taken) dont get fired either. And I'm still not seeing where any of the cops admitted to corruption.
This is like a bad joke turned into a serious test of the law and I love it.
You would be shocked how prevalent this is. If you think you can just call the police and they'll come and enforce the law, I mean, that is not how it works. That exchange happens in many ways, constantly. ACAB
Bro do you know how often people "show proof" that is just them babbling incoherently trying to avoid getting arrested or something? All he had to do was say "So they have a legally binding LLC that makes anyone who works here a part owner, I got a majority share of my friends hired and commenced a vote to remove the other owners from the board" literally that is the shortest, sweetest, to the point explanation, but that doesn't make as good a youtube video as him trying to cut off and talk over a cop repeating the same words "But I work here, that guy is fired, I work here" Dude the cop isn't gonna sit around for a 15 minute long video that verifies employment of all of your friends, he already has previous raport with the cult dude, so of course he trusts him more than the random guy he had never seen. Also it IS a job for an attorney, It's not a cops job to determine if a contract was legally or illegally broken, that falls upon specialty lawyers who will argue the case in court. If I came up to you and said your best friend fucked your wife, and he said he didn't, you would probably believe him at first right? And if you asked me for proof and all I said was "I have it right here, he did it, your friend fucked your wife" and you said "I don't think he did, he's my buddy" a convincing response from me is not "Oh but he did though, he totally did tho." I think you severely discount the amount of bullshit lies cops deal with day to day. Dude might be an absolute piece of shit human, but this police interaction is not that insane.

You do not trust cops because only the bad cops are in the news and in videos. The good cops are the majority btw they do not get filmed because it is their job to be good. Like everywhere there are good people and bad people and it is always the bad people that give the good ones a bad name. Like with black lives matter shit the ones robbing stores do you really believe all black people go and steal? no some of the bad ones did that and people filmed it but they never filmed the black guy fighting off the looters to protect the owner's stores. I've seen that multiple times when that shit was going on but the only thing on the news or social media was the looters. Same with cops the cop just doing his job is not gonna get on social media or go viral but a cop with a power trip shooting someone well that is news. Religious freedom/delusion stops when it starts endangering others.
That fbi document you showed about the drugs being baked into ritual bread is honestly troubling because i used to work with a guy that would talk about how the world would be a better place if everyone was on hallucinogens. He went to live on a commune.
Oh gosh what a real wack one. He was already showing it.
I really don't understand how you don't have at least a million subscribers
I used to go to that restaurant a lot when I was in high school. I stopped going there once I knew it was run by a cult. Blows my mind that it's still open.
FOR NOW 😂
Blow it up on reddit or some shit, it’ll be protested and trashed in a week.
they have restaurants and businesses all over the world
like Yellow Deli in Boulder CO and five houses full of cult members
This is the most intense episode yet, wow. Those cops were being so passive aggressive and basically admitted to ignoring a crime because of their bias. That’s crazy.
Is there any updates on the cops? We need their badge numbers and names so that they can be reported. It's cops like them that give good cops a bad name.
Get an attorney involved for sure
Ben just totally wrecked that cop without even the use of a "W"!
Wow I’m in shock from that corruption for the food 😂
Ben you should have offered to cook the officers some free food if they escorted the former employees off of the property. The officer was speaking in "under the table terms" but he was clear about what he and his friends wanted.
In the small town I was born in Colorado they have a restaurant called the Mate Factor, all the locals know it's this same cult. But this series is the most I've ever seen & heard of their lives. Great series. They all need legal repercussions.
Yup, we have a Mate Factor run by this cult, here in Savannah, GA
Manitou?
The fact that on Yelp they have glowing reviews none mentioning they are a cult is beyond me
I had such a weird experience eating there (before I knew what it was), and I am so happy yall did that. The exploitation of vulnerable people and children is disgusting.
It’s time to file a complaint against those officers.
You're a xussy! No, they need to be sued into oblivion!
It’s so frustrating that the police aren’t willing to do even the littlest of work. Holy shit.
After watching for a while, you don't even become surprised that Ben did this.
I really think LegalEagle should get involve in this
or Attorney Tom, he tends to focus his efforts more specifically on cases that help others
@@Taz_Olson Or Leejah Miller, she is a corporates
Or the civil rights attorney that says freedom is scary
Everyone harass them in the comments
Also, Audit the Audit would be hilarious to have cover this.
We need a follow up this is gold
The state of utah dismissed Ben's case/ownership dispute against Yellow Deli and ordered him to pay them damages for lost income during their time in the restaurant. Ben and everyone involved were also banned from the property and will be arrested and criminally charged if they return. Ben also had a restraining order put in place which also forbids him from discussing yellow deli publicly or privately.
State and federal law enforcement has been trying to take down the Twelve Tribes communities for decades and have always failed. There was no chance in hell Ben could have won this.
Such a shame.
If you have any contracts signed by all your friends saying they were hired you're probably good. If it was just a verbal "yeah we need help" you don't have a chance.
Thats a good point
Non of cult member workers have any type of paperwork signed either..
So they still broke multiple laws? If they were employees the the premise of this video is correct. If they were not employees, then they still broke labor laws because non-emplpyees provided labor to them with no pay.
@@xPussySlayerx69420 I was talking strictly about the whole "ownership" thing
It's not verbal when it's on film. A "verbal contract" is an unsubstantiated verbal agreement, and exactly what they are banking on. This guy recorded making it just as valid as any signed contract. Pretty sure fighting him is just going to bury them in legal fines because California LOVES fining businesses for shitty labor practices on top of the typical dumb California fines.
Unless you are referring to the LLC that all employees are owners, that part is already legally documented when they filed their LLC to side step labor laws.
Congrats on becoming a restaurant owner. Hopefully things improve under the new management
"You little hipster shit" = spot on
I can't believe you've done this, incredible!
ben this is your best vid yet, congrats on your new deli!
and don’t get shot by the cops their looking feisty
I watched this entire series and I gotta say it was spectacular, def earned yourself a subscriber
I hope you actually pull this through and take over the restaurant
Ben you are SERIOUSLY underrated, I’ve never seen such an insanely talented UA-camr with such little recognition. Been watching you since the scientology series, KEEP GOING💪
So many cops hate when you know the law
Beware "virgins, willing to work" new lessons from war, after trogens barring gifts
Ben, please sue them....
that one cop that didnt care about evidence has a bad traffic stop coming
If you have all the documentation for the contract for the LLC, you can sue them yourself by simply filing a warrant in detinue for the business. This will also be under breach of contract.
For everyday that you weren't allowed to run your business legally the way you should have been, I would sue for damages for loss of income.
Detinue is a cause of action for chattel property. And they won't be suing for breach of contract, they will be suing for declaratory relief and an injunction
Employee-owned restaurants are actually pretty common and pretty cool
Too bad the cult behind it is messed up
Yeah true 🥲
Where, out of interest?
@@jonh1995ot only for restaurants, its called a worker coop. Pretty sure there is a list of the bigger ones on Wikipedia. The smaller once, probably have to ask around, maybe some local union workers know about them or some leftist politicians in your District. If you are not from the US, you could just check the cooperation ownership in the contry government database, but I think the US do not have this for private companies
They’re not common and they suck.
Co-ops are just as much of a “cult” as this place and if you think otherwise you’re actively deluding yourself.
I fucking love Ben! you are a hero and so is everyone who helped
Make sure to be careful, these people will purposely cause car accidents, fires, they'll get closer to friends or people you know. They'll take time. No matter how stupid they are don't underestimate the 2-20 minutes moments they can catch you off guard.
WTF?
Means. They will try to subtly target him via proxy to get to him and eliminate him. Via anyway possible for exposure. Kinda like what serious cults and secret societies do...also Intel agencies do the same.
Also an issue: The aggressive cops likely know the skinhead and other devout cult racists from being members of similar clubs and following all the same Daily Stormer content.
@@robertmartin2936 absolutely
This is Comedic Gold layered on top of a documentary, Awesome work folks!
The girl backing into him and then screaming "don't touch me" sums up every night I worked as a bouncer. They always "pull cards" and rally other drunks (mostly their friends) to try and out number youm
Theirs so many first amendment auditors that need to see this to straighten out these corrupt gang cops
Please send this to city of California and make this big
it won't get "big", there are layers of corruption involved
Ahh Yess the famous city of California
The city is called Vista and as a former resident I can assure you they’re very aware.
its crazy you actually did this 4 years ago and are just posting it now. Much respect.
You should absolutely let them take it to court. It sounds like according to their own LLC bylaws they would at least need to pay you out (they could dilute ownership shares tho). I guess you’d need a lawyer, not sure if you guys have the cash for it, but I absolutely love the idea of going after BS cult practices as a channel focus.
idk it only works if they actually signed any paper documents. This was filmed as if Ben and his friends didn’t actually sign anything legally binding that would make them official employees
He said "in the Llc every person that worked a shift is an employee "
It’s not working like that
Surely you arent stupid enough to think a handshake and a nod makes you an owner in an LLC.
