My current favorite artist Ren Gill (professionally known as Ren) busked on Brighton streets for a lot of years and finally landed a UK charted No.1 Album last year. You should check him out! He just back from Canada for a medical trip and probably will have some live performance on Brighton street again!

I was in UK in May, was wandering some small seaside cities, perhaps for future residence there. Had planned a day there as I have some expectations but unfortunately couldn’t make it as time was running out on my schedule.

余至倫敦之次月，富紳阿什伯里導往遊焉， 即歎為絕特（極為出眾）殊勝， 自是屢遊不厭。再逾年而之他邦，多涉名跡，而卜來敦未嘗一日去諸懷， 其移人若此（移，改變，引申為感染， 使人嚮往）。
英之為國，號為強盛傑大，議者徒知其船堅炮巨， 逐利若馳（拼命追求私利）， 故嘗得志海內；而不知其國中之憂遊暇豫（ 閒暇安樂），乃有如是之一境也。昔荀卿 氏論立國惟堅凝（堅實牢固；精誠團結意）之難， 而晉欒鍼（春秋時晉國大夫）之對 楚子重（春秋時楚國司馬）則曰： 「好（喜愛） 以眾整（嚴整）。」又曰： 「好以暇（從容不迫，悠然）。」夫唯堅凝， 斯能整暇（嚴整而從容不迫），若卜來敦者， 可以覘（窺視） 人國矣（可以觀察別人國家強盛的緣故）。
白話譯文
卜來敦是英國沿海一個城市，歐洲風景優美的地方，在倫敦之南一百六十里，火車大約兩個小時便可到達，是國民遊覽療養的場所。城市的後面山與山連成一片，城市的前面則沿著大海，有高聳的石岸。喜歡多事的人在石岸上鑿平了一塊地造了座大房子，在裡面養魚，房子裡面灌滿了水，用玻璃罩住。四大洲各種水產物，奇奇怪怪，品種繁多，都收集到了。那一帶又用木頭架起一座長橋，延伸到海面上有數百丈長，使遊客能夠攀上去憑欄遠望。驕的盡頭有一個可供遊玩的亭子。其餘的地方，有草地、沙灘，綠色的窗戶、茅屋。這種景致與海水的光線相互掩映、襯托，形成一片曲折連綿的青綠色。
城中居民有十萬，住房櫛比鱗次，街道縱橫交錯，城市的規模在日漸開闢擴大。這地方本來沒有波濤洶湧的壯觀，客商船隻的匯集，也沒有機器匠人和工廠師傅興建各種東西，搞得繁雜不堪，塵土飛揚。這城市就是以空氣新鮮、環境清潔幽靜取勝。
每年學堂放假以後，遊客大多到這裡來休息。這時候，海濱一帶，風和日麗，天光水色連成一線。國內各地來的男男女女，手挽手嬉戲玩樂，衣服和裙子擦來擦去，都都漂亮得好象天上的彩雲。時而有一二隻小小的遊艇，劃著名槳，蕩漾在藍晶晶的水面上。而那些華貴的大家族，他們們乘著鮮艷的車子，駕著駿馬，並排前進，在路上賓士，相約漫遊。等到夜幕降臨，天色變黑的時侯，海濱一帶開始燈火輝煌，樂聲從水面上揚起，與海上的浪潮聲相互吞吐，聯成一片，那種舒緩、美好的情景，使人有飄飄欲仙、脫離人世之感。
我到倫敦的第第二個月，富翁阿什伯里就帶了我去那裡遊覽；那裡的獨特美好的風光使我嘆為觀止。此後我好多次再去，都感到新鮮，一點沒有玩厭。再過了一年，我去了別的國家，玩了許多名勝古蹟，但是ト來敦的景色沒有一天不使我懷念，可見它使我賞心悅目達到如此的程度。
英國，這樣一個國家，號稱繁榮強大。議論的人只曉得這個國家以軍艦堅實、大炮威力大，到處追求財富，所以常常能夠在世界上耀武揚威；而不知道這個國家裡面也有這樣一塊空閒安適的遊覽勝地。從前荀況論列國牢固團結的困難，晉國的欒絺對楚國的之重說，既要使大家嚴整，又要使大家有適當空閒。一國的國民，只有牢固團結，才能好整以暇，一既嚴整而又從容不迫。從卜來敦這地方，我們就可以看到別國國情了。

8月初去正好赶上了pride party，也太热闹了，马路上到处挤满了人。但是说实话感觉有点混乱，呆了一会儿就匆匆离开了。希望下次有机会看看平常的Brighton
