Hearing this really takes me back--to 2001 and The Edge Coffee House in Jonesboro. When I heard this, I realized that Ash was indeed a serious songwriter, and it's a song that has stuck with me ever since. It's also interesting hearing her voice, which in those days was pleasant and interesting, but not the powerful instrument that she developed by grinding it out in all those "basement dives and county fairs". Fly high, sparrow. Fly high.
