It was one of my favorite because I like the plausible factor, yet I was also disappointed. @chrisedwards3866 5 років тому

@@alessandroceloria Actually those do exist, you can buy them for around $70 on Amazon. They use a set of capacitors to build the charge. You don't really need a big battery to start a car, you just need a lot of current really quickly. But in order to get that much from a battery, the battery needs to be big. Batteries will store more charge and for much longer than capacitors, hence cars use the battery.
You can also buy an all-capacitor jump starter that (seriously) uses your own battery to jump start the car. The battery is never completely dead unless it is damaged, so it can charge the capacitors for a minute or two. Then the capacitors can provide all that current to the starter motor within 1 or 2 seconds, providing the power that it needs.
And there are a few of the big battery packs that also have very small compressors, so they can (very slowly) top up your tires. But that requires a lot of power, so it's best to power that functionality from the car rather than the device's batteries. Those products are around $180.

Hey ToT, I have watched 119 of your 146 youtube videos since i discovered this channel in November (yeah, i counted it.. and that even includes the tile cutting video). And i must say, i'm impressed by your skill set and your knowledge.
Even though i find machining super interesting, I have absolutely no experience. It would be super great if you could make a video on how to lathe, but dumb it down. Like just the basics, cutting a stock, take it down to size, make a simple bushing etc. How to start, what to think about, what to prep and what to have in mind.
