My scanner says vvt monitor bank 1 status fail . No trouble codes , no light. Car runs great at start up , but vibrates at idle after warmed up. What could that mean ?

Maybe the solenoid is dirty or stack malfunctioning. There is also the timing chain the might be over stretch, depending on the mileage.check your vvt solenoid and clean dirty solenoid.

@@luleautogarage ok, the mileage is 77,600 and it has at chain, I know chains are not flawless so it could be.

Is there not a single answer on the entire Internet as to what the difference between an intake VVT solenoid is and what an exhaust VVT solenoid is? How do I know I put the intake with the intake and the exhaust with the exhaust? How do I know they sent me the right parts?

There are two solenoids located on both the intake and exhaust sides of the engine. All variable valve timing solenoids/actuators are the same.both refer to Variable Valve Timing with intelligence, a technology developed by Toyota to improve engine performance and fuel efficiency. The difference in capitalization is simply a matter of styling and does not reflect any functional difference between the two.
