back in 1998 my wonderful bandmates gifted me with a 1997 matchless chieftain 2x12 combo.
it's 2009 and it is just getting better sounding at every gig i play. i am on my third carrying handle for it. it is a beast at 85 lbs. just have to change the tubes every year and your good to go.

Back in the days when bands recorded records together in the same room, having a foot switchable reverb was probably very useful.

Im glad that they have a defeatable master vol. even in the sort of "entry level" model.
That freaking amp sound so amazing especially on its lead tones hily crap it is just amazing it is crazy all of these boutiques I havent heard of and now all of a sudden i havent seen one I really dont like just amazing most of them sound better then any of the major brands its crazy I still love my vox and its tone it seriously does sound like most of the boutiques try sounding more like old school vox amps and old school marshall amps
That Andersons sound kicks fucking ass! The others aren't really a worthy opponent..

I doubt it dude. Buy a Mesa Boogie RectoVerb if you want amazing cleans and a sick lead channel. Or a any rectifier. Or basically anything Mesa has ever made except the Lone Star and Stilleto series (still amazing, but not as metalhead-friendly)
But I highly suggest a rectoverb, you can get em for like 700-900 USD used
matchless amps are so sweet. you should check out cage amps. another great boutique amp company
Are these the Matamp of America? They certainly look and sound similar, with all the options for customization, as well.
Ever tried a superchief 120 from the Sampson era ? I heard that there was 60 of 'em made and that they are THE BEST AMP ever. Jeff Martin from The Tea Party uses 4 of these and I've always been really impressed by his tone ... Now I know from where it came from !

@RobChappers how do you like those vigiers? i live in the us and have only had the pleasure of playing one suhr which was pure heaven and if vigier is even half as good they're awesome they sure as hell sound awesome
Chappers has some TT and other orange reviews if you look in his old videos. If you can't find them there, search elsewhere on youtube - he's got a ton of Orange stuff

Awesome amps. I've tried a numered series Viguier, 2000€, and.... maybe i didnt understand all of that guitar, but I didn't like it. Could you make a demo of an ibanez js1000? That would be awesome. 5* (apologyze for my englisg :P)

If you wanna pay (roughly) $3,800 for the combo, then yes. I believe that they ship to the US. A bit too expensive for me. :-)
I just get the feeling that you're gonna end up using matchless amps. I'd say that'd be a good amp to use after seeing these videos.

I don't understand the point of a "bargain" Matchless amplifier. Why should a boutique amp builder make a lower quality amp for only a slightly lower price, which is still out of most people's range.

It's weird yet despite being produced later Excalibur 30 sounds worse than Avalon 30s..

I don't know if it's just what they were choosing to play or what, but these tones didn't do anything for me at all.
I never understood the need for footswitchable reverb, but its horses for courses i suppose.

Not the best demo of an amp i've seen. What about showing some different settings of the amp instead of switching guitars and using other effects? Just my opinion.
