Thanks alot for teaching us how to use it! I am not musician or producer, only I want to buy this thing to start to make my own samples and some beats, and this is excellent to understand, because sometimes when I see other videos, only touch alot of things without explaining and make me feel that it is hard to use. my question is, when ever i sample a sound it seems like it saves over a factory sample. is there a way to go around that? i dont want to loose those factory sounds. thank you!!!!

Son Wu, you've come up good again. thanks for the video. Just a couple of things.... 1) at 8:00, when you're recorded your sample, I don't know whether you noticed but the KO II truncates the early part of the sound automatically where there is no sound. 2) I sample a sound then copy and paste this to various pads, this gives me some flexibility when editing the pads, just a workflow choice.

1. I don't know, if I am understanding right…but when sampling, it always waits for the volume to exceed the threshold, so there is no silence in the beginning.
2. Yes, there are always various ways to go about this, depending on your needs :)

Is there a way of going back in after you have exited sample mode to edit start/end points etc? I keep having to re-do it
only in the sample edit menu shift + sound…then go to trim
Anytime I chop a sample and use it in multiple scenes, it will wipe out the chops, if I change it on another scene. Is that supposed to happen? I would have hoped it retained the chopped sample in one scene, if I change it in a committed / duplicated scene

Unfortunately not…but you could try using timestretch!

press sound and turn the black knob to change pitch,
shift + sound to get into deeper sound editing…navigate right to get to timestretch.
Hi Son Wu. Does sampling ever overwrite an existing sample or is the new sample automatically assigned to an empty sample slot?
I haven't noticed anything being overwritten…it always looks for empty slots.
Great tutorial, just received the device and currently working my way through these videos. Please correct me if I'm wrong, maybe I am from another timeline but I could have sworn there was a feature to connect the ko-ii to the PC and load pre made samples directly to the ko-ii's memory rather than manually recording them using line in. I hope this makes sense.

is there a way for the device to wait with the live chopping playback until i press the first pad? i think its quite hard to nail the first slice on the first pad, since it automatically starts playback when i hit shift + sample
Agreed, it would be better if the device waited for the first pad to be pressed, then the sample starts, also wish I did not have to hold down each pad.
question...how is it that you can still preview the recorded sound while in the sample section with all the pads blinking..anytime I do this I have get out of that mode into the sound section to preview the sound on whatever pad I put it on...
have you already sliced it to multiple pads? Try playing the bottom left pad.
Hi! Is there a way to start the recording of a sample without holding the pad? With a stereo input, can i switch to internal mic and external source before the recording? Thanks

thank you ! when i launch a long recorded sample when the beat is playing, sometimes it stops playing in the middle of it, whereas I keep the launch button pressed. How can I fix it ?

Great video! How do I shift a sample I accidentally recorded from one pad to another?
press sound, then shift + C to copy the current pad…then go to another pad (make sure you are still in the sound menu, then press shift + D to paste.
Or just go to a new pad, press sound and use -/+ or the numbers to navigate to the sample you want to use.

I was wondering too. Also can i sample from any device i plug in the output? Like playing spotify on my phone?
Yes, to record into the computer you need an interface. There are other samplers that have audio interfaces built in already though, if that interests you more.

Great tutorials! Can you decide which number your recorded sample is going to get? When I record a sample it gets a random number/placement.
I’m wondering the same thing. The first two recordings I did overwrote numbers 33 and 34. I don’t want to overwrite the built in samples (yet)
Actually scratch my last comment. It didn’t overwrite anything. I just assumed it did until I realized that those slots were blank lol 🤦♂️.
That should be possible. You can select an empty sound before sampling to that pad.

Any idea why my sample won’t play back in sample mode. Like after I’ve recorded it? When I go back to main I can hear the unchopped sample but not before exiting the sample mode.

I don't think it's possible if anything is plugged in.
