"No matter the turd, he could polish it."
Imagine if that line actually ended up in Bruce Campbell's eulogy.
I love Hercules, and Xena... and Jack of All Trades... and Brisco County Jr
Yes
Ah my childhood....no wonder I love bad old movies. I never even thought Heracles was anything but hilarious. I'm so broken....
This series both baffles and fascinates me. I hope we see a Baywatching-style review series of Hercules.
OMG BRUCE CAMPBELL AS AUTOLYCUS. THAT IS AMAZING. By the way, Autolycus isn't a king in the OG myth. Heracles is, though.
Typhon is a really cool dragon monster god in the OG, so yeah, that's a waste of a character.
THOSE are harpies? THOSE. ARE. HARPIES. I pray to God Ray Harryhausen never saw this show.
Oh god, I wish I was watching the animated Disney series instead.
When Bruce Campbell can't save your slapstick, it's pretty weak.
Best line of the episode: "Once you have harpies, you can't get rid of them."
This show definitely is a product of it's time.....and while very cheesy and campy, it always felt like no one wanted to really try and be anything but camp.
and then hercules went on to bully a college kid and then get hit by a car. sad sad fate for hercules.
Nicholas Polkey not before Hercules commands a starship and shows off his force lance.
Ugh... you just *HAD* to remind me of Andromeda!
Don't get me wrong, I thought Andromeda was a pretty good show, but it would've been *so much better* without Sorbo in it.
Hercules worked because it was a dumb show, so no one cared that Sorbo was a shitty actor. There wasn't much for him to fuck up.
Andromeda couldn't recover from Sorbo's lameness, no matter how hard the writers tried.
I've only ever watched one episode and that was the one where the ship's AI gained an actual body. Caught bits and pieces here and there but I guess I just didn't feel like watching it in addition to all the other sci-fi stuff that was out around that time.
This might be why *I have fonder memories of Hercules.* This show along with *Xena* were a large part of my TV-viewing childhood. But I remember laughing & being happy with Hercules and being *scared of Xena.*
ai i that was a great comment. And, we were all afraid of Xena. lol 😂
... the Mentos ad before this was awkwardly adorable. Just had to say it. xD
Hagrid being a half giant was something I questioned as well
Anyone noticed that Kevin Sorbo returned as Hercules in God of War 3?
Head canon connection achieved!
And they gave him a centurion helmet!? I know that that series isn't exactly known for being mythologically accurate but THAT is one bizarre design.
Stockholm...STALK-holm.
so...i never realised autolocles was played by bruce campbell...wow... genius here...
We need to see a Manic Episode review of the Christmas episodes of Hercules and Xena.
I am definitely hoping for some more Autolycus related Hercules/Xena reviews soon (after all can't get enough of the king of thieves, the ancient grecian Robin Hood), oh and Kull The Conqueror would be a good movie to review too since it is a movie that was intended to be a third Conan movie but the plans were changed when they couldn't get Arnie to reprise his role and thus why it was changed to be a Kull adaptation.
Autolycus quoted WC Fields. lol
I would love an analysis of all hercules searies
Giovanni Gianluca Reina me too!
Giovanni Gianluca Reina Yea like the one she made for Charmed.
Agreed Indeed.
Yes!
thought the same thing about hagrid being half giant
Yes
Married with Fishsticks was very odd , the all singing musical episode of Xena was very odd despite being seemingly on purpose. (:
At some point you should review Kull the Conquerer. Real cheesy fun with Kevin Sorbo.
Sigh, back when Kevin Sorbo was cool. My how he's fallen.
He was entertaining in 'Don't trust the B'.... but yeah, outside of that one episode, it's spotty.
He was never cool.
At least Glenn was not a giant brain in a giant Dalek looking machine.
It's funny to think that a string of worse than usual episodes arose as a result of Sorbo's injury, whereas some of Xena's most beloved episodes happened as a result of the XWP crew having to write around Lucy Lawless' famous Tonight Show injury. The two shows had so much overlap of behind the scenes creative and production talent, but then again, knowing what we now know of Sorbo, I wouldn't be surprised if he threw tantrums during the table reads whenever there was even the merest hints that Michael Herst or one of the regular recurring actors might get a chance to shine while he was sidelined. Hell, during both Lawless' injury and her later pregnancy, even when the episodes weren't exactly good (they are always good IMHO and I will fight you), they were always memorable and charmingly performed. Might I recommend the Xena episode Small Problems? I mean, just the blurb of "Gabrielle and the goddess Aphrodite have to oil wrestle Pollux and Castor because somehow that's how you get a Xena soul out of a little girl" should be enough to sell you on cheesy dumb wonderment.
Hercules is even trashier than Xena? That is a scary thought.
Oh crap I thought this looked familiar. I blocked this episode out. Thank goodness for Bruce Campbell and Glenn Shadix. But still what the hell was this and why?
Hercules was terrific.
You should do more Hercules episodes
8:20 I woke up my kids laughing at this
I dodn't get to see all the Hercules episodes yet and dunno not dying too nessacerily , its a goodish show but dunno feels a tad dated to me nowadays , or i havent been in episodic mode as much nowadays maybe dunno , but i do need to rewatch the Callisto episodes , anything with Callisto in it is gold. (:
It looks like the live action baby version of the grinch combined with a road killed moguuai
Would like to see you tackle the Tv movies (or were the DTV?)
Does anyone remember Andromeda and Cleopatra 2525? lol
I'm not sure whether this or Demons got harpies the _most_ wrong. Just for reference: in Demons, they were ancient Sumerian were-dragons. At least they're still Greek in this.
Xena and Hercules did a crossover.
i understand the snark is is to gain viewers other wise i fail to see why you think this show is bad
What the fuck do they think "harpies" are? This episode alone had me saying "what?" a good twenty times. I don't think I'd be able to watch the show raw.
Ok, I'm confused. This video was uploaded today, but why are there comments from a year ago, or three months ago?
It might've been set to "unlisted" before?
Riff Chick
Oh ok. That sounds plausible. Thanks for answering my question!
I was really confused because this was already marked as fully watched, even though it looked like it was uploaded while I was asleep. But, yeah, she has/had a few episodes as unlisted that you'd only find if you looked through her playlists.
Many of her videos are accessible through her Playlists (on profile) even if they aren't publicly available. It's how a lot of people are getting around copyright flags.
Bruce Campbell is God. He's always the best thing in these stories.
Uma Chan there is only One True and Living God, the TriUne Holy One of Israel, the Father, the Risen Word Who was made flesh and dwelt among us and died on the cross for our sins.. the Only Begotten Son Jesus Christ our Lord, and the Holy Spirit; and These Three are One: the TriUne GodHead.
@@fbnflaviusbroadcastingnetw6786 And his name is Bruce Campbell. And if you're talking anybody else then Bruce Campbell could kick his ass because Bruce Campbell is God.
Silly Christians.
The very phallic purple monster's face reminds me of the robot Gypsy from MST3K
A gay giant?
Hercules was pretty entertaining at the time. It just seems stupid now.
