📚Description: A few years ago, a viewer booked a private help session about these unique Autumn Burst run of Es-335s from 1993. Ever since that day I knew I wanted to document one on the show mainly because of the cool pickguard!

WOW, That is a very handsome 335, congrats Austin, that is a really good find.
I just bought a beautiful Heritage H - 575 in the Amber finish. It is all Amber not a sunburst and it is solid maple. It’s not laminated at all. I’m a Les Paul guy like you but when I played this I had to get it. I bought a new Les Paul 50’s model a few weeks ago and it was a little cheaper but not much lol. Love your show and watch it every day. I always look forward to what you’ll have next. Thank you, Louis Freeman
7:40 that fretboard is spectacular!!
Not a 335 guy but that's exceptional.
Same I always skip thease videos 😅
Agreed, a real beauty!
It is a 335 so suck it
Legit, my jaw dropped on the pickguard reveal @0:36 ...it just really seals the deal on the late-70's jazz lounge color palette feel that guitar is going for... Love. It.
That streaky rosewood freboard looks great with that finish.
The dirty section of this video served to reinforce why the 335 was always so appealing to me while I was in my late teens and earlier adulthood during the 90s. I don't think I would choose that Autumn burst or the dot inlay if given first refusal, but you definitely made this guitar shine, Trogly.
That's a gorgeous 335.
That's one of the nicest looking 335s that I've seen. I really like it.
Ahhh!!! The Graham Coxon ES-335. I love it!!!.
dar3mor6, WOW, Outstanding eye/memory! I have seen a photo of Graham playing this exact guitar, I think I remember a reference to this ES-335 as "Liquid Amber", or something like that. 👍
@@hkguitar1984 There are many live videos of Blur performing "This is a Low" and GC uses that guitar.
No distance left to run and Girl done gone! It is nice to see he uses the same guitar for over 20 years now. @@dar3mor6
@@dar3mor6 Yes indeed, I never really watched any of them until seeing your comment. 👍
I like those types of light streaky fretboards!
Trog: Thanks for posting this video! I have this model and never saw another one. Too, I have a sound sample on my channel - just posted the other day, in fact. Strange coincidence!
The only 335 i’m familiar with is a 90s, so i personally LOVE those neck profiles
Beautiful axe! You’re welcome for the fret butter btw ;) I sent it. Figured it would come in handy for you for those light polishing jobs. I mostly use it on new guitars. For really dried fretboards, I typically will use lemon oil, let it soak in, then wipe away, then use fret butter then wipe it all off. You do have to wipe the guitar off after using the product. I know it can be messy, but just look at how well it cleans & polishes though!
any preferred brand of lemon oil for dried fretboards ? i've a Japanese made Fender Squier strat i bought new in 1987 that's in storage. Been in storage for 10 years, was dry when it went in. Thoughts welcomed as i'm hoping to get it out soon.
@@PeterMoore350I use the Dunlop brand.
@@synonyxthx bro. Greatly appreciated. I've heard good things about Music Nomad too, so I'll try both.
Beautiful instrument...best burst I've seen!
Such a beautiful 335! 😍
That is one beautiful 335
beautiful guitar for sure. enjoy it
The pickguard reminds me of 60’s/70’s amber sunglasses.
Exactly my thought 😂 And actually also the long plastic cigarette holder-thingy some used back then too.
335s are neat classic electric semi hollowbody Gibsons. I don't own one and doubt if I ever would but I can appreciate them. This is a beautiful instrument!
That is one beautiful guitar (except for the fretboard, unfortunately, but you helped it). It would look even better with amber knobs
6:15 I don’t mind that pick guard on this one Mr Trogly. Initially at the start of this video I immediately thought naaa remove the pick guard but now? I’d probably leave it in.
I sent you an email about NZ offerings so I hope you got that.
Let me know if you want to continue to send you those although recent health issues may prevent that.
Cheers from NZ 😎🎸🤘
Cool, reminds me of my Les Paul Custom which is a 1971-74 Cherry Burst which is worn mostly to tobacco/brown/yellow due to sunlight. Very pretty to look at, even though its worn to hell and back.
That’s one of the nicest 335s I’ve ever seen, mr. Trogly
Austin you can darken the fretboard easily with acetone. However you need to just take and rub on with a soft cloth. As you know acetone will eat into the finish but ive never found that an issue because I’m careful. Do it a few times for desired darkness.
One of the best sounding guitars you have ever demonstrated 🎸. Special I think.
IDK how my 2018 ES-335 Traditional stacks up to this 'L.E.' ES-335 BUT my trusty 'Trad. Cherry' ES-335 is neck and neck w/my '17 Les Paul Standard as far as TONE MONSTERS go. @ $2900 all-in in July 2018 I'd say I done good...... and ......SWEETWATER sold me a solid ES-335 Traditional (Yes they did !). The Modern Historic Spec pickups hav 'LOR-REDDA' sounding as close to a late '59 - early '60 ES-335 as newer 335 can get......side by side, 'LOR-REDDA' hangs right there ! I got the 'Blocks' on the Fret-Board too, 'EYHO', Baby !
Gorgeous guitar.
that guitar sounds really nice.
Awesomeness ❤
You should try Monty's Instrument Food for fretboard conditioning/nut lube. It's great stuff, wax based/all natural, and they make a version that has some espresso and cocoa in it that will naturally dye a board darker. Really great stuff and extremely helpful for the longevity of open fretboards. Plus it's help alleviate some tuning issues with the nut
That pick guard is pretty sweet if you ask me. Be cool to have some with different burst colors
A green one would look like those old green visors card dealers used to wear.
Spectacular!
Wow, that is absolutely gorgeous. I’ve never owned the 335 and I’m dying to get my hands on one that would be number one on the list would be very cool if it had a veritone Like Lucille don’t know if I spelt that right lol beautiful beautiful guitar
Love the jazz boxes. If I had the dough I'd new guitar day one of those new gold sparkle 355's.
If u want to make the fretboard darker. Use Monty’s relic wax. U can order it through FU tone. U won’t have to use anymore oil.
THIS is your guitar. You sound better on this guitar than any other guitar I've heard you play. Keep this one.
i kind of agree with you! Trogly sounds great on this one.
What a beautiful guitar.
Shame about the Epiphone dg335.
I heard that quite a few have been damaged in transit.
Is there a problem with the case, for example; not enough headstock clearance?
Love the 335! ooo buddy looks cool!
love it. damn
That’s one beautiful guitar! I love the see through pick guard. 100% winner!
i have 94 red dot i love it so much
those are mainly scratches from cleaning on pick guard
I have this same guitar not much on the internet that I have found so this was cool to see. I love this 🪓
That bridge and tailpiece look really high????
Should try to find a 349.
If you wanted to get rid of the pick scratches on the guard try using a headlight restore kit. Cheap and easy to use. Of course the pick scratches are there and don't bother me a bit.
Tooth paste is cheaper.
Instead of playing with pick guards they should try to help the headstock tuning issues
Tilt your angle with the caliper to get more surface of the fret for a more accurate measurement 😉
Like this one Trogly
Do it!
Be cool if someone did this as the stock pickguard (maybe in coordinated colors) even though it’s extra work compared to just slicing out the pickguard from the sheet and chamfering the edges to show off any layers).
wtf -- UA-cam is trying to show me an entire episode of Avengers Assemble as an ad 😆
Gorgeous
I've never been a semi-hollow sort of guy, but if I ever bought a 335, THAT would be the one!💯🤘
Trogly…you’re a big guy…that guitar looks great on you👍
That's really nice. Gibson changes the dance a little. Considering this guitar is OVER 30 years old, this guitar is in really nice shape.
Damn I keep forgetting the 90s was so long ago
Woooo hoooo
I like the colour of that burst and the streakiness of the rosewood on the fingerboard. The translucent pickguard looks odd to me and I don't like it. I do like 335s, though not the positioning of the output jack. Nice guitar overall though.
@Trog Have you ever had an ES 333 on the show? I have a Tri Burst example from 2002 with an ABR bridge that's screwed directly into the body, old school/custom shop style. Weird.
just to tom delonge version - not the base-model
I think I heard a little Uncle Ted tone there.
You mentioned ‘Rack Rash’… What can be done to avoid that?
it looks like a theheritage from the color
Gibson, Inspired by Lifton.
She's a beauty, I want one. Unfortunately she's a 10 and I'm just a 6.
✌️
Peace Peace
She's a looker! Just love that Autumn Burst; but, she must have spent quite a bit of time in someone's closet.
The guitar colonoscopy :)
I like the cockroach wing pickguard.
Shoe polish lol
Pick guard appears to resemble faux tortoise shell..?
Ironically the thing that makes this different (the pick guard) is the thing I hate about it. Put a standard black pick guard on this and it’s gorgeous. I even like the streaky fret board.
Seriously, Trog... what's the strangest thing you have seen inside a guitar with that scope? Also, I get scared you're going to stumble upon a creepy crawly.
Yahoo
Does anyone else find it weird that Trogly always feels things with the back of his hand?
less finger prints and a truer feel without your hand oils getting in the way. Give it a go next time!
Isnt even on the bench yet and im going to assume this 90s model has the historically mounted abr1 😊
I don’t get why Gibson do this, the inside of that guitar looks like someboby built it with an axe, in the dark.
I used to have a 335, it was exactly the same.
That's how hollow guitars are built and always have been.
@@ChrisShortyAllen no they’re not, not all hollow body guitars are filled with running glue, woodchips and rough tooling marks.
It's cool, but it looks like something someone's chain smoking grandfather would play. 🙂
Evening all!!!
💜🤍💙💛🖤❤✌️
I had a Epi DOT Studio I sold it. But it is on my recordings here on The Tube
8th lol 😂
👍👍
Z is for late.
Very interesting. It’s not an SG so I will pass. Thanks for the information and tones.
You really need to consider balancing out the audio on your vids. Drives me crazy whenever you switch from speaking to playing demos and it's blaring! LOL I'll turn it down. Then you go back to speaking and I have to turn it back up again. Every time! Is there an intended reason why you edit this way?
He's sending all of them back to the market these days . . . None are getting saved for the museum any more.
I hate how salesman-like you are. not rock n roll dude
Well, in honesty, these are his sales videos. He’s in the business of buying and selling guitars. He likes to be honest about the features of the floors. So basically, we are watching commercials most of the time.
What's a rock and roll dude please?
@@ChrisShortyAllen rock 'n' roll, dude.
@@ChrisShortyAllen -- kinda like how you didn't use a comma before please.
Somebody has to teach you how to speak, initially, thought it was a casual quaintness. But jeez. "Exetera"?
Dude, c'mon, knock it off.
He is expressive and interesting. Go watch Eliza Doolittle.
The nicest example of a ES 335 I've seen. I wonder if they made an ES 339 in the same finish.
Thats a pretty ass 335
