September 22, 2024: A large part of the city center was car-free, with various information points available for mobility options, including electric scooters, shared bicycles, and general information.
I have been living in the Netherlands for several years, having moved from Belgium, and we still do not have electric scooters or shared bicycles, which is unimaginable. The Netherlands bans electric scooters due to the gas trade and requires a driver’s license, which means there are no shared scooters. This needs to change because people sometimes lack transportation for short distances, and scooters are ideal for this. Antwerp is well-equipped with many options.
