    just a note for anyone attempting this, the inner lip needs to be taller than the outer lip on the waterwell or the water will get into the jar

      It's not talent, it's a skill. One that can be learned by anyone willing to put in the time and effort.

    Really appreciate this video! I've made 3 of these but did it in 2 parts, making the well and putting on the jar. I'll definitely give this a try. Thanks!

      Follow my instruction, I am sure you will be someday. From my newly uploaded videos starting from 505, I am starting over again from the basic with more detail and better cameras and angles.

    Thank you so much for all your incredibly beautiful and educational videos! I am having trouble with consistent drying and knowing when the clay is the right consistency to trim or apply handles and whatnot. Any advice? I am sure many of us would love to see how you dry your pieces and how your workstation is set up. Thank you again!

    What does it take to be considered a master potter? I've been throwing for about 10 years and I am now a production potter for a company, I've thrown around 120,000 pieces and I don't consider myself anywhere close to a master potter.

      Pay attention to the every detail of the pots you are making. I always think of my work what the people will think of hundreds or even thousands years later.

    This is amazing!!! How many pounds of clay is the body of the pot?

    Since the contents would be really acid, would you need a special sort of glaze for it?

    • @hsinchuen
      @hsinchuen  4 роки тому +1

      No need.

    • @kathleenkirchoff9223

      It would need a good thick coat of glaze with no crazing or cracking. Test your glaze and clay body for a good fit with a test tile. I had a custom chalice ruined because I tried a new commercial glaze that crazed.

    Out of curiosity, what was the starting weight of clay for a vessel this size?

    • @FernyCeramics
      @FernyCeramics 11 місяців тому +2

      Nevermind, at the 10:50 mark you mention the body is 5# and the lid is 1.5#

      Wow I have a hard time throwing porcelain. I guess throwing a bit stiffer clay would help
