Actually a bit of lore, your guess on gluttony being the "hellhounds ring" is pretty spot on, in Dante's inferno the penance in this ring was being eternally eaten alive by Cerberus, I can really see Vizzie taking inspiration from that.
I agree! It also seems like something they've spoken about before 'yeah I know I got a little carried away' before he could even say it, meaning she understood that look he gave her, and knew what it meant. It seems they like to indulge in communication, unlike a certain Imp and Goetia...

Can't wait till were shown the repercussions of Ozzie's hypocrisy in S2E6. I like to think of it this way Fizz got a short term win but a long term loss while blitz got a short term loss but a long term win. we'll have to wait and see after the barbie wire episode but it'll be worth it.
I'm calling it Ozzie and Fizz have a FWB relationship (well replace friend with colleague) and Ozzies caught feelings. And Fizz either didn't get the memo, or he doesn't care.
i loved her design. gluttony means over indulging in anything and everything, not just food. and just looking at her tells you that her whole thing is being too much. i also loved that she was such a genuinely nice person and truly just wanted everyone to have the best time
What I also learned is that the song has some meaning behind it. Cotton Candy, every time you bite it, it never feels like you're satisfied with eating it. The "I'm what you want, not what you need" is kinda self explanatory.

The redesigns, while few are cute, just seem to missed the point about how she's a shoutout to die young, having her either as a literal bee which is too on the nose and fat which is a reach considering that if Viv did design Bee as plus size, twitter would still witchhunt her.

I actually feel like making Bee skinny was a pretty neat design choice. She indulges in everything, yet her body still remains unchanged, like a void that never stops eating. When you think about it, that's really what gluttony is. Consuming and consuming, indulging and indulging, and never being truly satisfied, like how Bee looks actually more skinny than a lot of other demons
And seems fun but looking into it with an open eye gluttony is kinda gross. And i don't know if it's intentional or not, but Beelzebub was called lord of the flies as an insult to his followers (he was worshipped as a bull deity but was compared to the flies buzzing around the rear end of one) and there are two distinct differences between flies and bees (besides bees being related wasps amd ants) is that bees work tirelessly to make their own food, and have four wings. While flies wait for others to drop it or drop dead, and flies have two wings. Bee-lzebub has two wings, and relies on others to help generate her honey. The bee theme might just be a cover for her not actually being one and is actually a fly. Though that might just be me liking the insect aspect of both Beelzebubs a lil too much and trying to find parallels that might not be there.
Some people are angry that *Bee* isn’t fat - and some people would’ve been angry if she *was* fat. There is literally no way Viv could “choose correctly” with gluttony’s design. 🤷♀️
I think the void in her center is a smart choice - she can NEVER be satisfied. It's a nice visual nod - she isn't affected by her consumption and she can never feel full. Considering she's a fallen angel, this could be a divine punishment from God.
With Vortex being with Beelzebub, Fizz being with Ozzie, Vaggie being with Charlie, and of course Blitzø being with Stolas, maybe commoners being with people with high positions of power is more common then we think in Hell
I'm sure the only thing that matters is their reputation socially. I mean, with the way Ozzie's reacted to Stolitz was terrible - but Vaggie x Charlie was treated completely normal. Of course with Charlie being above the Seven Deadly Sins, I guess many would be afraid to say a word. But Charlie is kind spirited, everyone knows that. I suppose people are too scared to care or don't care in general. Edit: I also believe people made fun of Stolas as they mentioned he was "sleeping with an imp" and not in a relationship with one. The thing that made it worse is that he's mostly sexually charged, not romantically.
Agreed. The Goetia, like the ancient royal lines of Europe, seem obsessive with having powerful heirs, so maybe the disgrace is coming from having a relationship that can't be exploited for a decently powerful heir. Like they would have succubus mistresses for kids that can be great at manipulation and charisma, as well as automatic access to the human world without the need of grimoires courtesy of Asmodeus, which is extremely useful if Stolas' hit on the environmental advocate is any indication. They see it being more transactional and think Stolas is needlessly going for the bottom of the barrel. Like having access to a Vegas Buffet (all laced with various bacteria and poisons), but choosing to go after the slightly old pizza that fell on the clean floor in a hole in the wall pizza joint. I liked how both Tex and Bee didn't force or pressure Loona to engage and more of invite her to engsge. I also like how Bee is able to realize and check herself. Though "a little spicy" might be an understatement at least shes aware that her titan form is intimidating and doesn't fit the vibe shes trying to maintain

I like how Vortex and Bee clearly care about and RESPECT each other. Bee openly adores Vortex and tries to be friendly with his friends, while Vortex is super proud of Bee’s performances and he still works for a living despite how she’d be able (and probably willing) to support him. They don’t take each other for granted.
Theory: Remember how Tex tried to ease Loona's fears by saying "I'm Vortex" in a crazy way.. That was why Bee told the story about her being interested in her sort of brother but not blood related. That was not flattering to her, but I'm sure she was hoping Loona would feel a bit less ashamed about calling her rival hot. She knows Loona is 22 years old and it's more of puppy love than the connection she has with Tex.
Thank you someone else noticed. It's a common social tactic that if someone embarrasses themself to say or do something embarrassing to help ease the social tension ^^ it is part of what made me like Bee is it felt genuine. She could have mocked Loona, or changed the topic instead she tried to validate and support Loona in her awareness.
I mean how old is Tex? If he’s a lot older then I guess that makes sense. Loona is still fairly young (granted she’s past the standard age of late adolescence which is around 18-20/21) but 22 is still often a time of figuring things out (only difference between 22 and 18-20 is that 18-20 isn’t expected to be an adult). I suppose Bee could just see Loona as really young and doesn’t see her crush on Tex as a threat.

She explicitly says that she loves that Loona doesn’t care about how freaky people think she is. Wish Bee wasn’t so blunt about that just because telling instead of showing makes the scene feel less impactful with little to no interpretation to be made. The show misses the central mysterious factor that Hazbin has with the clock and lacks subtlety that Hazbin has (such as Alastor humming Charlie’s tune). The scene would’ve been better if Bee sent Vortex to get them some drinks, that indicates a liking of Loona’s awkwardness without explicitly stating such which makes the scene more impactful

I'm happy for viz, but I don't really care about them involving celebrities. There's plenty of amazing VA's out there that aren't recognized for their talent. Having a show like this showcase them would be amazing.
@@loveluclins there was a point though with having Kesha. Viv had always wanted to work with Kesha & had her heart set on it. You could see that in her Die Young video. The fact she was able to do so & went above & beyond to make it happen should be seen as a huge accomplishment for anyone ESPECIALLY in the indy UA-cam animation community.
Honestly I am down. Rochelle was able to get bee's inspiration's vibe down well (kesha) and seems to be a great singer so I would be more than happy if she voices bee. Not to mention that i wanna see bee more often. She is so cool and i can see her be helpful in a number of ways
I'll be honest, I never felt like Asmodeus was calling out Stolas as such. His lyrics and word choice make it seem more like he's impressed with Stolas. He refers to what Stolas did as, "The spirit of Lust," after all. It's Stolas who takes it that way, and because he's a POV character, that tone is what gets conveyed to the audience.
The difference between Stolitz and Bee+Vortex is shame. Stolas feels shame when called out about his relationship but Bee and Vortex are happily together and Bee is the sort of person who genuinely does not care what other people think in the slightest.

What's actually going on here is a conditioned response from the way Paimon treated him and probably, as SC said, the Ars Goetia being incredibly stuck up. He has a knee-jerk reaction to being called out, and given he's basically been a doormat all his life, he doesn't stand up for them but retreats behind his menu. It's very much something a kid being scolded by their parents would do.
When I first saw Beelzebub, I thought she was fake but she's actually a very cool person. Quickly became one of my favorite characters on the show. Definitely loved her aesthetics and design. Absolutely loved the relationship between Bee and Tex. I just hope they don't ruin it just because of Loona.
It so perfectly matches my experiences with meeting an overly familiar rave girls at strange parties! They'll put you at ease with their relentless earnesty. Not to mention she is literally driven by empathy. she couldn't really have fun because blitzø was having such a shitty time and she could *feel* it. Even if she's secretly kind of a bitch, she genuinely wanted to put Loona at ease in that moment. She has a symbiotic relationship with her party guests
I'm honestly really excited to see more of Fizz and Ozz. I feel like nobody bats an eye at their relationship because it comes off as purely sexual & business partners, which is to be expected from the sin of Lust. It's him being full-on in *love* with Fizz that'll turn some heads

He was voiced by a celebrity too and the trailer for season 2 I couldn't tell what he said but his voice sounded different? I donnu if fizzarolli will be like that too, his voice actor played him on two episodes but is hard to ignore that possibility given what we saw and that working with celebrities becomes hard to schedule around
Hell yeah. The hypocrisy the newspaper snippet we have seen will be about the fact Ozz called out Moxxie and Millie for being all lovey dovey, and then in private it is all lovey dovey with Fizz.
Also too, I hope they dive into Fizz’s background. If it’s true that both Fizz and Blitz got into an accident disfiguring both of them, that they somehow still managed to get in the pants of high class people and that their love for one another is genuine
@@Haphu15mmmm to be honest it depends on the person. Don't get me wrong, iglehart is famous, but honestly not at the same level say Kesha or Reedus in my opinion. Like, I actually never heard of him (don't really watch Broadway shows often) until helluva boss. So he'll probably be more available then those two. In short, because he's not as "popular" or known as those two. They even got fizzaroli VA back (cause it sounds like his VA in the trailer) . So I actually find if your more of a Broadway actor than a live action (or for VA you voiced A LOT or famous characters), your not as popular or desirable for hired.
Vortex is attractive, distinctive, and has probably the healthiest personality weve ever seen in the show, even compared to moxxie, Vortex is the most genuine and grounded person weve ever seen in hell. Add to that, being Verosica's hell hound is itself a status symbol. Hellhounds tend to reflect on who owns them, And being a pop star's hellhound makes him somewhat of a celebrity amongst hellhounds, so I dont think its far fetched.
Not to mention Verosica drinks beelzejuice, so Vortex may have met Bee through a business meeting. Plus both women are performers, so there are all sorts of situations that led to the hook-up
Actually really enjoyed the fact that the main cast don’t always swoop in to steal people from unhealthy relationships. Nice to see it’s a healthy stable relationship. She was far from a bi*ch - and was more considerate and caring than Luna in those scenes. Was just to have reasonable side characters that don’t need to be meddled with
I think one of the reasons we got gluttony associated with hellhounds is that in Dante’s Inferno the third circle of hell aka the gluttony ring, was the domain of Cerberus, the three-headed hound. Another interesting thing that I have no idea was intentional is that the domains thing is that it’s made of sticky mud that people get stuck into, the same thing that could happen in honey (heck, Cerberus wasn’t bribed by people in the past with honey cakes).
Another reason could be the folk tale symbolism of wolves as gluttonous beings. It's why there's a Big Bad Wolf in both Red Riding Hood and The Three Little Pigs.

Wolf have a Very deep mythological link to Gluttony and gennerally eating things theyshould not. Fitting, as any dog owner will tell you. The second most common sentence after "Good Boooy, Good boooy" is "What's in your mouth!"
Another point to add with the Gluttony Ring being associated with hellhounds is Vizzie's said the 7 Princes design / theme is based on different Cirus acts with: * Lucifer (Pride) as The Ring Master * Satan (Wraith) likely as The Strongman (because we known he's ripped & has a work-out app) * Beelzebub (Gluttony) as The Animal Tamer * Mammon (Greed) 99% sure he's the Circus Clown (since he's face on the money looks like a clown) * Asmodeus (Lust) is The Acrobat / Dancers * Leviathan (Envy) as ??? * Belphegor (Sloth) as ???

I think the fact they made Beelzebub have the bee aspects was kind of clever as bees make honey in excess, her name has bee in it, and most depictions of Beelzebub have bug like traits, and with Beelzebub being a "lord of pests' further connecting Beelzebub as the 'Queen Bee' we see her as in Helluva Boss

There is another thing to point out about Ozzy: While he shines a light on Stolas' affair with Blitzø and his words seem pretty hurtful to us and the denizens of other circles of hell, he revels in the affair and compliments Stolas for this step (again not exactly in line with how we or other circles would see it) It might very well be that Ozzy and the entirety of Lust are atually getting off of this type of thing (both figuratively as well as literally) since the only info we have on Lust are from the restaurant which seems to be more of a meeting place for the denizens of other circles than it is a valid depiction of that circles lifestyle.
My guess is Bee just doesn’t care She’s a party animal (to put it lightly) and because of that she just seems to do whatever she wants Even if Hell was against it she would simply not care
I mean she's one of the Seven Sins, who are as high up as you can get without being related to Lucifer. Not like anyone can really tell her or the other sins not to.
Those were my thoughts too, maybe the other sins just assume that if any one of them were to act the way Bee acts, it would be her (if that makes sense)
There’s also the fact Stolas comes from a prolly more…Posh side of things? Seeing as he was arranged to marriage his Ex as a child. So him with an Imp is highly out of character, especially when it’s Blitzø Also Asmodeus runs a club where the butt of the joke is you. Think those restaurants that have “Our waitresses are assholes!” As a selling point. I personally don’t think Stolas with an Imp is seen as bad by them, just highly out of character.

Idk if you read comments but i just wanted to clarify about her design, her "honey tummy" is actually a lava lamp which was confirmed by Vivzipop herself on Twitter and it burns off everything she eats which is why she isnt big, i do however think they could do better in showing bigger people because they do exist, but her design seems intentional and is supposed to be extremely detailed (shes literally the sin of excess so her appearance will also be such)
Seems to me like Bee is just cool with Imps and Hounds in general. The lack of other hell borns in her party could be less due to gluttony being the hell hound home ring and more due to other demons not wanting to be around their "lessers" .
Bee also described the party as a "small get-together" to Loona, so maybe she hosts bigger parties with a more diverse guest list often too, but this one was a bit more limited.
One of the things I rather like about how Beelzebub was depicted is that she IS definitely feeding off of everyone who is indulging in her party through numerous comments she makes (hence part of her song where she says "Keep making me that mother f**king honey", or her numerous references to how various partygoers "taste"), however she's opting to make that relationship with everyone Symbiotic rather than Parasitic. She legit wants everyone to have a good time, party it up, and indulge themselves beyond the point of excess, but she also is sincere in her desire for everyone to enjoy the experience. What would be kind of interesting to know is if there is any kind of affect this feeding might have on her partygoers. There's not a whole lot of info to work off here so this is purely hypothetical, but I wouldn't be surprised if some of her partygoers may actually suffer some kind of short or long term issues from not only overindulging but also getting spiritually fed on. Now, this would likely be something that Bee can't really help and is just part of her nature as the Sin of Gluttony, and she may even try to throw the biggest parties she can to try and mitigate any harm or damage she may cause through such feeding (spreading it thin and thus minimizing damage), but she IS still a Lord of Hell and one of the Seven Sins, and I think it would be weird if there wasn't a darker aspect to her, even if that darkness is just in her fundamental nature.
Aha! Someone else sees it too! I thought those were really odd comments to make, and a bit suspicious! I didn't think of any drawbacks, but more just a mutual need where Bee needs these emotions to fend off other aspects of her own life, probably. That'd make her just as addicted to these parties as the people that joins them...! But the possible drawback is absolutely a possibility and a clever catch. We do see the hellhounds swimming in the punch bowl literally foaming at the mouth, that can't be good to anybody!!
@Necessity4fun considering it implies hellhounds are native to gluttony they may have a much higher tolerance to Beetlejuice than imps or succubi. And loona being able to eat almost anything even blitz's blended up phone.
I also had this odd feeling that she was darker than she seemed. It's hell, it'd be pretty much impossible to be a 'somebody' if you weren't connected and powerful enough to keep the position. So her constantly feeding on others indulgence sounds like a decent idea. She does seem to be the nicest amongst the demons we've met so far, but that could be just because she's in a good and secure place. Cause we saw her briefly 'lose her cool' and then excuse it away with something like "I had one of my loonie moments" to excuse the sudden aggressive behaviour and revealing her true form. It may also answer why she accepts hellhounds and imps at her party, because nobody else is feeding off them, so she might as well 'exploit them' while also giving them a good party experience.
I was actually really, really excited when I saw Bee's design the first time because I could *immediately* tell it was just- it's Vivzie's STYLE. There's a super fantastic video I watched many years back that talked about her style and the Die Young video and it is super neat to see how far she's come. If you go back and look at DY and pause from time to time - there's a really neat back and forth on 'simplifying' and 'details'. In one shot, the main wolf character has all of her stripes in her stocking, the gold tooth, all of her earrings, every little detail, but in the next with a lot of movement, it gets made more simple. Maybe just three stripes and an earring. It's balanced well enough to save on animation time (and pain!) and hard to notice even on several watches. You can see the progression of that same thing to here! There's more animators, more budget, so the simplification is less, but it does show. If you just kind of pause at random times, you can see how her hair is more or less defined based on what Bee is doing in that shot. The freckles on her face come and go (specially in far shots). How many blobs make up her tummy or hair. It's really incredible and the whole thing just makes me stupidly happy to see. It'd be so easy to make Gluttony 'gross', as many people SEE gluttony as a gross thing to take part in. Having her be this energy ball and constantly needing and giving and bright and bubbly and friendly throws that old image for a turn. I really love it. Also the mention of the different sins reflecting the different casts/rings? Holy bleep. You're spot on.
My favorite shot of Bee in the whole episode is the little pout she makes when Blitz is clearly out of control 7:38 . She's not just worried her party could go south, she's worried Blitz could hurt himself.
Two factors: Bee has a mother's instinct given the hellhounds' high population due to her fecundity; and she also acts as a production manager for Beelze-juice. Blitzo had the potential of spoiling her latest brew with his vibes.
i thought she was JUST the right amount of flashy? vivziepop has had some questionable controversies, but as a visual designer myself, i have to give it to her. the honey cross lava lamp design FUCKING OWNS 10/10 my only complaints were for the animators wrists
As another artist, I 100% agree! She's the Queen of Gluttony! She NEEEEEDSS to be as OTT as possible. As for her weight/figure, it makes perfect sense to me, she's a high octane performer who indulges in all things fun, and it speaks less of just the food element of gluttony and a lot more the alcohol and drugs she consumes constantly. Gluttony feels to me a lot more like a Slaanesh cult than an all-you-can-eat fast food buffet. Just absolute excess in all things to the point where it becomes terrifying to us mere mortals
Both Bee and Ozzie are really good characters, this topic has been applied to both of them, they both want everyone to indulge in their perspective sin, one with consent and the other one is to enjoy. They with want everyone to do it out of their free will
I also have this idea that Bee is the "Odd one". Like when the seven have to meet up everyone is just like "Ugh, it's Bee..." So the idea of her dating a hellhound is shameful, but she doesn't really care.
Even if she didn't date a hellhound, Bee being a party animal would kill the formal nature of the gathering. I have a feeling she would hate gathering with the other Princes due to their buzzkill vibes (particularly Belphegor) and the Goetias would be hated even more with their stuffy formality. Bee is likely a black sheep of the Ars Goetia. If the seven princes do gather, they would likely do so in the Envy ring as Leviathan is gargantuan.
Honestly I think Lucifer and Ozzie would like Bee being around. Lucifer would probably find her energy and outspoken nature entertaining, and Ozzie would just find her a treat to be around with her uppity and slightly flirtatious personality
I think the same, but not because shes a party girl, its because she actually cares about people. She could have just kicked Blitz out when she noticed his bad vibes, but she made sure Loona checked on him. And she throws parties for hellhounds, the lowest rank in hell and lets them indulge, rather than the rich people on top.

Plus why would they care what she does with her subjects as long as they’re indulging in her sin, not to mention that her parties are successful in what she sets out for them to accomplish from what we’ve seen. I mean sure Hellhounds are seen very highly but they’re still subjects of hell and seem to be mostly under Beelzebubs rule

On Bee's design, it's ment to be excessive because that's her sin. Gluttony is overindulgence so her design is meant to show that and is beautiful. Her and Vortex are perfect!

I like Bee's design a lot. I think the color pallette is what really makes it work. And her honey like hair is satisfying to watch. I also love that she's so early Vivs, and then Kesha on top of that. It's just so cool

If there are Succubi/Incubi, which are lust demons, then it would make sense for there to be demons that represent the other Deadly Sins. After all, I can definitely see how Hellhounds could be related to Gluttony, due to how dogs don’t know when to stop eating.
Being in charge of Gluttony, it makes complete sense for Bee to not care one bit. She is indulging and doing what she wants. If she wants to date a Hellhound, she'll date one.

Also, Asmodeus never really criticized Stolas, rather he actually complemented him. Although it could be seen as sarcasm, I think the theory that the seven sins don’t really care, and the Goetia are the ones who are upset, seems pretty realistic.

Honestly when Bee was introduced I thought she was a half hellhound half insect demon hybrid that worked for Beelzebub; i thoughts she was going to be Beelzebub’s hellhound that was picked for the insect like aspect. It was only on my second watch that I realised she was THE Beelzebub; because the idea of her being a hellhound working for someone else made more sense to me while she’s partying with imps and hellhounds

With Bee it makes sense for her not to dwell on things that are negative for too long. She indulges in what she likes or wants. Anything beyond that can easily be ignored, even if it can be a hinderance to her.
I think one of the factors that plays into it is that Bee is already seen as the crazy party girl (who the overlords obviously have some issues with considering her line about stealing Belphegors drugs or smth) so when she dates someone who is below her class it gets chocked up to “ah Bee is being crazy again” vs. Asmodeus (or even Stolas) who have a bit of seriousness/properness to them. I’m German we have this word called “narrenfreiheit” which means something akin to “Fool’s freedom”. I think Bee has some of that. I also noticed how isolated Bee is..like at the end of the day this was just a house party with the hell hounds. And it wasn’t even overstuffed or anything. It was crowded SURE but contrast it with Asmodeus’ constantly over-booked public club and yeah. Definetly gives me “everyone else doesn’t really care about me I prefer to slum it with the lower class, which I belong to on a technicality” vibes
It also kinda feels like an act they play up in between the 7 of them.(beelzebub even says it herself, theyre like family but not actually family) Theyre lords of hell, they hardly need to care about it but do it anyway just to sow division in hells ranks.
I really love her design. She has her bee elements, and she looks like a fennec fox to tie her into the hell hounds, and she's a walking lava lamp cause she's a colorful party animal. She looks so fun.
Seeing this after the return of Bee with Kesha’s reprisal of the role gives me a little spark of hope for the future. The show seems different, now, after the most recent episode and I feel like it has the potential to crank up to a fever pitch depending on the direction it takes after.
I have yet to see anyone express my headcannon for how they met- Vortex is Verosika's bodyguard, and both Verosika and Bee are performers and party animals! We've seen Verosika travel for shows, maybe she was hired by Bee to perform, or maybe she's just a big name so Bee invited her to a party, or maybe they just crossed paths at some high profile get-together. I imagine Vortex was working when he got to meet Bee when she and Verosika got to talk/interact, and I imagine it was Bee that fell hard. That's my guess anyway!
If this were the case, I'd say they bonded over trying to get Verosika to put down the bottle. I'm imagining a scenario similar to Blitzo in the episode, resulting in Verosika's most recent trip to rehab while the two get to know each other
That’s an interesting thought. Though I personally always imagined it the other way around that Vortex met Verosika through Bee. I see it like maybe Vortex was getting comments that he was ‘gold digging’ with Bee and using her, this started to get to him, which lead him to search for a job, and Verosika was invited to one of Bee’s parties with her looking for a new bodyguard. You could guess the rest from there
I understand why people get confused about how Bee and Tex's relationship is vs other relationships in Helluva but at the same time double standards are a real thing. There are times I watch the news and become baffled at who gets away with what. I think Bee is adorable, I like the design as is, I think Tex is cool and I hope he and Loona stay friends.
3:48 - I think the reason everyone will judge Oz here is not for dating an imp, but because he acts as if lust was superior to love and yet he seems to genuinely like Fizz. So his hypocrisy has to do with having a relationship that isn’t defined solely by his sin/source of power and influence.
Not just not defined solely by it: there are Seven Virtues which counterbalance the Seven Sins, and Love is the counter to Lust. Ozzy is indulging in what, by rights, should be emotional kryptonite to his office.
Since Bee already has two voice actors and the one signing posters is not kesha i think getting more of her in the show could just rely on having the second VA voice her
That makes sense, but with bee and strikers VA case in mind, does that mean that asmodeus is most likely to get a different VA too? He was voiced by a celebrity too and the trailer for season 2 I couldn't tell what he said but his voice sounded different? I donnu if fizzarolli will be like that too, his voice actor played him on two episodes but is hard to ignore that possibility given what we saw

Those designs aren't bad but it's gotten kinda stale. I absolutely love gluttony's design in helluva boss because you wouldn't immediately think she's gluttony but once you find out she is you realise everything about her design and personality scream gluttony in such a unique way she is genuinely my favourite interpretation of a sin I've ever seen

goodness... the idea that the Goetias are just the middle managers of hell makes their snooty "I'm better than everyone" attitude make so much sense... they're like the people who got promoted once and now they're flaunting their new power over their new underlings to make everyone else's life miserable because it makes them feel more powerful... and the more I think about that the more it makes sense since that explains why Stella isn't even slightly interested in taking money from Stolas in the divorce, she just wants to make him suffer because it makes her feel like she has more power and control than she actually has
You said that you don't think she's feeding off other people's indulgence, but I think she does, which might be why she gets very uncomfortable when blitzo starts drinking to dull the pain. Actual gluttony and indulgence fuels her while overdoing something (drinking etc) for a purpose is like poison to her
Caring about status and other people's opinion of your relationship sounds way more like a Pride thing than a Gluttony thing. Beelzebub seems like the type who doesn't really care what others think. This is her life and if they don't like it well who needs them? Vortex makes her happy. That's all the justification she needs.
I'm surprised people are jumping to the conclusion that the sins actually care about this sort of thing, when so far Bee is dating a Hellhound, and Asmodeus is dating an imp from the same background as Blitz. The callout "Are you sleeping with an imp?!" doesn't even come from Asmodeus, he just kind of acknowledges what a scandalous thing that is in society, but in a super 'Atta Boy' sort of way. For all we know, the bird demons and Paimon are connected to Pride in some way, and this plays a role in how much they care about things like status and respectability.

The most recent episode really shines a light on the double standards in Hell's hierarchy. Its pretty safe to say Bee and Ozzie wouldn't have lifted a finger for Blitz if neither of them knew him previously. From the get-go, it's pretty clear they don't care about *all* imps and hellhounds just the ones they are close to. The hounds are forced into violent and cramped pounds, and Bee doesn't care to put a stop to it. Ozzie's workforce seems to be primarily imps, yet I'm pretty sure they aren't treated as anything more than tools. Bottom line, those at the top don't truly care about those on the bottom unless it directly affects them.
If I'm not mistaken, the controversy of the relationship between Fizzaroli and Asmodeus is more related to what he said to Moxxie and Millie, he said that their relationship had no lust because of the romantic vibe, but then he and Fizzaroli appear being romantic.
I think that it should also be noted that most residents of hell know that the Goetia family arranges marriages WITHIN the family. Stolas and Blitzo might have a notable class difference, but the fact that Stolas is hooking up with anything but a Goetia family member is something worth pointing out.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but when Beelzebub was getting the hate for her design someone did mention how she was more wolf then bee. Viz responded with that she was the animal trainer basically. During her song she flew through a ring as well even further symbolizing that she is supposed to trian the animals. So it does makes sense that she would be more like chill with Hellhounds or other animal like demons

At first, I was kinda disappointed by it but now I have gotten used to it and appreciate it more. Compared to the other sins, which isn't a lot, Bee is closer and more in touch with her subjects. Even more so than Ozzie, with all his razzle-dazzle, glitz n’ glam. She honestly gives off Dionysus vibes, a deity that attracted those of the lower class, and her hosting skills remind me of how the ancient Greeks threw parties and treated guests. A theory I had was she took a lower class/beastly look to be more approachable for her partygoers and subjects. But Viv’s explanation makes sense, which fits into Hell being similar to a Circus troupe and the Sins being reminiscent of acts and occupations. Lucifer the Ringleader, Mammon the Clown, and now Beelzebub the Beast Tamer.
Beelzebub might actually be feeding off the gluttonous behavior at her party, she even comments near the end of the episode that she can taste the "flavor" of people at her party. my theory is that all of the seven deadly sins "feed on" or gain power from the denizens of their respective rings. maybe they originally created the native species of their rings and their cultures so they could gain more power. this also clears up something from the other series that , looking back, didn't make sense otherwise. why would Lucifer allow the sinners to gain power and become Overlords if he wasn't benefiting from it? what if the arrogance from gaining power on the level of high ranking demons, their pride, makes him stronger.
Bee and Tex are SO cute together. I love how Bee's design and personality doesn't reflect how people think the queen of gluttony would be like yet still work so well with the concept. Really hope we could see more of this couple in the future ep.
If you think about it, the seven princes would only ever be dating their lessers unless they date each other, which is a very small dating pool. The Goetia and general royalty have more options amongst each other, so going for an imp seems much crazier. I feel like for the princes, no matter who they date, it's all beneath them. So maybe they care far less about it for themselves.
I think Ozzie was called a hypocrite was because he was hating on moxie for being lovey dovey while doing the same with fizz (coddling him after he got jumped by Millie) but, that’s just a theory of mine 🤷

Depends on how they do it. Biblical Beelzebub is one of the closest angels to Lucifer andI think was considered one of his first commanders. Thus she'd be stupidly strong. However Beelzebub is infact a renaming of another being called balls who sad supposed to be a bull encompassed by flies. Making there being two depictions of Beelzebub but both are insanely strong
Honestly I kind of love the vibes with Beelzebub, specifically how she’s kind of over designed but I feel like it was intentional since Gluttony is about self indulgence. It kind of reminds me of those old sparkle dog ocs honestly, which are usually made just to look cool.
Literally the only problem I could ever find in Bee and Tex as a couple would be his "cowering" when she transformed and was about to fight Loona, as it could be read as Tex not being able to do anything against her due to the huge power imbalance inherent in their respective statuses. However, it just as easily could be interpreted as Tex simply being uncomfortable about his girlfriend and his friend fighting, or even because he seemingly convinced Bee to invite Loona and now she and her father were causing a scene and ruining everyone's night and making passive-aggressive comments to the hostess and ruler of the Ring, which might have got Vortex in hot water with his girlfriend. All in all, perfectly valid reasons as to why he'd be apprehensive during that scene.
I really think that he assumes she doesn't really mean to harm anyone. Only if she has to After that conflict she said herself she doesn't like to act this way. But she has to to mantain her status.
luckily i dont think thats likely considering how considerate and apologetic she was afterwards, my take on that situation is that he knows bee was in the right there because loona was picking a fight for no good reason aka jealousy but at the same time like ya said his girlfriend and friend is fighting so its a hard situation to be in, hopefully their relationship doesnt become toxic in the long run theyre so cute 😭

Eh almost no one, Sins are typically ranked in terms of power based on how evil their sin is, often with the worse sin being stronger, meaning Satan, Leviathan and Lucifer probably could talk her down. Bel obviously won't because she's Sloth and thus doesns't have the energy to give a shit.

As an artist who is plus size irl, let me just say that drawing bigger people isn't as easy as you might think. Your brain is constantly trying to correct you by subconsciously reminding you about basic body proportions. Yes, it's nice being represented. I've tried drawing myself with my real body proportions many times, but it just doesn't look right. I'm very secure with who I am, and what I look like, but if I'm going to draw myself, I'm going to give in to my artist brain and draw what looks right.
Depends which kind of bigger people we are talking about. Mostly the sexy model, with big butt and chest is pretty decent to mind, so it won't be too troublesome... at least if the whole show weren't with slim characters that have similiar body types, so there is no way to draw other ones
I really like the “over designed” characters. It’s something you never or hardly ever see in a because how difficult and expensive it is to animate especially in indie and cheaper cartoons. It makes me appreciate every single episode these animators put out. There are so many cartoons that have family guy like animation styles I don’t even give the time of day. They may have a great and funny stories but they are so bland and uninteresting to look at.
I really love the concept of two different animated shows taking place in the same universe. Very interesting concept with Heluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel. Makes the universe feel HUGE.
Tbh, I kinda agree with you when you said we might not get to see any more of Bee. But I honestly think if they cast the voice actress who actually sang the song, we might have some hope in seeing her again!
Weird stretch here, but Bee strikes me as an heiress/nepo-baby in her behaviors that we've seen. She seems, honestly, nice. But she is also actively involved in things like signing off on hellhound adoption. I get this feeling that she might be a second generation ruler of Gluttony. Like, all of the terrible systems that harm the hellhound population were set up by the previous generation. She was raised around it and finds it normal. So, now that she is the ruler, she throws parties and has fun. She is genuinely kind, but also doesn't understand that the system she is controlling is fucked up, because that's "just how it is."

I get the vibe that the sins can do whatever they want because they are untouchable. A goetia can be replaced with another goetia, hence the "precautionary heir" thing. But there's no successor or heir to a deadly sin. Also the goetia know they aren't on top, and have to fight to maintain their image and prestige. So a threat to that image is much more impactful.
I honestly love their relationship so much, It's so cute. Also Beelzebub is now my fave character in the show next to blitz. I'm just so sad that we're probs never gonna see her again, cause like u said. Kesha. But who knows what they have planned. But seriously I love this ep so much and cotton candy is such a banger. The ending was so sad though, except when blitz threw up lol
If they do keep her throughout some episodes they’re probably going to have somebody else who has a related voice to Kesha to voice Bee, but I’d hope that Bee will be in more episodes throughout season two maybe.

I am loving the Vortex x Beelzebub pairing once I found out Bee wasn't a stuck-up jerk. I'd love too see Blitz and Stolas show up as a couple in gluttony, as I think they would be treated better.
I like that he brought up Lucifer's circus because in that Bee's role is quite literally "Animal Tamer/Talent". Which also fits with her fox like appearance and rings she flies though in her set but I think more importantly explains her relationship with the hellhounds and imps, as well as why her party is almost exclusively made up of them. Her role in the circus is animal tamer, her job as one of the 7 rulers of hell is to keep the lower classes placated and complicit against the system that's oppressing them. If they are happy and distracted with booze and party's and drugs they have no reason to recognize and unite against what actually causes them harm. Now I do think Bee legitimately cares about them and thinks of them as her people, seen as her dating Tex rather than someone closer to her in class, she as seems to really care about everyone at her party having fun and being safe. The main thing she's doing the whole time is checking on ppl, shes clearly conseened for them, even in her song she references "what you want, not what need" implying she's aware of this dynamic. But yeah those are just my thoughts on this
6:04 You know, Gluttony is actually a pretty accurate sin to align to canids. Wolves can't register their food intake as well as other animals, and will typically eat to their limit whenever they get the chance simply because its hard for them to feel full.
The line about the Goetia being middle management made me wanna draw one of the Sins telling Stella that “purple is for royalty dear,not middle management”
I think the reason they bash Stolas and not Bee is because firstly, if they did, Bee might just obliterate them as she’s the queen of gluttony and could, but since Ozzie is higher than Stolas, he can’t really do anything to stop him. Also it seems Bee is also pretty well liked as she throws pretty good parties and supplies food and drinks, but it’s shown that Blitz has a pretty terrible relationship with everyone he’s been close to.
People saying Bee should have been fat are really telling on themselves. It wouldn't have been good to equate self-indulgence with fatness and you know people would have complained if she *had* been fat. She's probably someone with a crazy high metabolism who burns through calories like crazy which kind of makes more sense for gluttony, in my opinion. Someone who can indulge excessively and have it go nowhere like a void.
The lava lamp stomach is that void, basically. It burns anything and everything she consumes, resulting in her never feeling satisfied and always wanting more, on top of her never gaining weight because of it. If there's any sort of satisfaction she gets from consuming stuff, it's only temporary.
Mmm, the sins are often designed to represent both the sin and the consequences of it. Lust is often denied meaningful relationships, wrath turns upon its own, pride goeth before the fall, ect. Gluttony's classical interpretation due to the standard usage of the word is overeating, therefore becoming fat and repulsive fue to overconsumption. In this interpretation the sins do not seem to represent the consequences of those actions, thus the standard design would be unfitting
Given that Bee is the princess of gluttony and based on how quickly she was trying to form a positive bond with loona, I don't think it would be to far of a stretch that Bee wouldn't be against the idea of a polymoris relationship with her, tex and loona. It would certainly be interesting if she started testing the waters to see if a relationship between the three of them would be possible.
If nothing else she definitely respects that Loona was willing to throw down with even the likes of her over her dad. I suspect the number of people who are willing ot square up even when she goes full sicko mode are the other seven sins, lillith, charlie, and... only a handful of angels. So seeing a hellhound, the lowest of the low, standing her ground? She probably thought that was damned hot given how downbad she is for satan.

Food for thought (gluttony pun), but Bee might not have the best intent for Hellhounds. She states that she feeds off the energy, which could be a way that she makes her honey/Beelza-juice. If the energy is not joyful, wild, and energetic, it doesn't make good honey. Let's not forget that she also signs off on Hellhound adoptions, so parties could be a way for them to indulge and make poor choices to keep the pounds full. Lots of fun theories to think about. Also have you noticed that all of Vortex's friends call him Tex, even Verosika, but Bee calls him Vortex? Just some food for thought (more gluttony puns).
Fecundity is also inherent in her being an aspect of gluttony. If Bee herself doesn't emulate being a queen bee in a certain aspect, hellhounds would be the fecund species.
I don’t know, the start part does sound neat but not exactly evil. Though I just can’t bring myself to imagine she actively involves herself in the whole hellhound adoption thing, it just doesn’t seem like something she’d want with all the bad vibes it would give off. Not to mention that it feels more like something she’d entrust to her someone else to handle while she just indulges in her fun. Also the whole ‘her calling him Vortex’ thing could be something like she does need a nickname, like while others only see parts of him she sees all of him with her seeing it as a wholesome thing making her relationship with him more special

Commoners dating high profiles in Hell seems to be a pretty common pattern in these Vivziepop cartoons, And some of the pairings so far seem disfuctional and even toxic but it seems like the overlords don't care because it could be that they think as long as whomever they are with makes them happy then it doesn't matter what anyone else in Hell thinks. Sure some of the overlords care more about their reputations than their relationships but what happens to either one is entirely up to them.

Actually a bit of lore, your guess on gluttony being the "hellhounds ring" is pretty spot on, in Dante's inferno the penance in this ring was being eternally eaten alive by Cerberus, I can really see Vizzie taking inspiration from that.
I really loved how Bee apologized for going into “bee” mode because she also put Tex in a hard position as he invited Loona so he couldn’t take sides.

Can't wait till were shown the repercussions of Ozzie's hypocrisy in S2E6. I like to think of it this way Fizz got a short term win but a long term loss while blitz got a short term loss but a long term win. we'll have to wait and see after the barbie wire episode but it'll be worth it.
I'm calling it Ozzie and Fizz have a FWB relationship (well replace friend with colleague) and Ozzies caught feelings. And Fizz either didn't get the memo, or he doesn't care.

i loved her design. gluttony means over indulging in anything and everything, not just food. and just looking at her tells you that her whole thing is being too much. i also loved that she was such a genuinely nice person and truly just wanted everyone to have the best time

Her overness is also what makes her character unique to her. Also at least i can make details out on her unlike with asmoudeus. 😅
What I also learned is that the song has some meaning behind it. Cotton Candy, every time you bite it, it never feels like you're satisfied with eating it. The "I'm what you want, not what you need" is kinda self explanatory.

Bee's design being so over the top works because she is literally the demon of gluttony, extreme self-indulgence.
The redesigns, while few are cute, just seem to missed the point about how she's a shoutout to die young, having her either as a literal bee which is too on the nose and fat which is a reach considering that if Viv did design Bee as plus size, twitter would still witchhunt her.

I actually feel like making Bee skinny was a pretty neat design choice. She indulges in everything, yet her body still remains unchanged, like a void that never stops eating. When you think about it, that's really what gluttony is. Consuming and consuming, indulging and indulging, and never being truly satisfied, like how Bee looks actually more skinny than a lot of other demons
One could argue its also a possible nod to eating disorders. Binging and purging and all that. But knowing Viv, its likely more the former

And i don't know if it's intentional or not, but Beelzebub was called lord of the flies as an insult to his followers (he was worshipped as a bull deity but was compared to the flies buzzing around the rear end of one) and there are two distinct differences between flies and bees (besides bees being related wasps amd ants) is that bees work tirelessly to make their own food, and have four wings. While flies wait for others to drop it or drop dead, and flies have two wings. Bee-lzebub has two wings, and relies on others to help generate her honey. The bee theme might just be a cover for her not actually being one and is actually a fly. Though that might just be me liking the insect aspect of both Beelzebubs a lil too much and trying to find parallels that might not be there.

I think the void in her center is a smart choice - she can NEVER be satisfied. It's a nice visual nod - she isn't affected by her consumption and she can never feel full. Considering she's a fallen angel, this could be a divine punishment from God.

With Vortex being with Beelzebub, Fizz being with Ozzie, Vaggie being with Charlie, and of course Blitzø being with Stolas, maybe commoners being with people with high positions of power is more common then we think in Hell
I'm sure the only thing that matters is their reputation socially. I mean, with the way Ozzie's reacted to Stolitz was terrible - but Vaggie x Charlie was treated completely normal. Of course with Charlie being above the Seven Deadly Sins, I guess many would be afraid to say a word. But Charlie is kind spirited, everyone knows that. I suppose people are too scared to care or don't care in general.
Edit: I also believe people made fun of Stolas as they mentioned he was "sleeping with an imp" and not in a relationship with one. The thing that made it worse is that he's mostly sexually charged, not romantically.

Agreed. The Goetia, like the ancient royal lines of Europe, seem obsessive with having powerful heirs, so maybe the disgrace is coming from having a relationship that can't be exploited for a decently powerful heir. Like they would have succubus mistresses for kids that can be great at manipulation and charisma, as well as automatic access to the human world without the need of grimoires courtesy of Asmodeus, which is extremely useful if Stolas' hit on the environmental advocate is any indication.
They see it being more transactional and think Stolas is needlessly going for the bottom of the barrel. Like having access to a Vegas Buffet (all laced with various bacteria and poisons), but choosing to go after the slightly old pizza that fell on the clean floor in a hole in the wall pizza joint.

I like how Vortex and Bee clearly care about and RESPECT each other.
Bee openly adores Vortex and tries to be friendly with his friends, while Vortex is super proud of Bee’s performances and he still works for a living despite how she’d be able (and probably willing) to support him. They don’t take each other for granted.
They definitely give that vibe of a mature relationship that's been going on for years.

Theory: Remember how Tex tried to ease Loona's fears by saying "I'm Vortex" in a crazy way.. That was why Bee told the story about her being interested in her sort of brother but not blood related. That was not flattering to her, but I'm sure she was hoping Loona would feel a bit less ashamed about calling her rival hot. She knows Loona is 22 years old and it's more of puppy love than the connection she has with Tex.
Thank you someone else noticed. It's a common social tactic that if someone embarrasses themself to say or do something embarrassing to help ease the social tension ^^ it is part of what made me like Bee is it felt genuine. She could have mocked Loona, or changed the topic instead she tried to validate and support Loona in her awareness.
I mean how old is Tex? If he’s a lot older then I guess that makes sense. Loona is still fairly young (granted she’s past the standard age of late adolescence which is around 18-20/21) but 22 is still often a time of figuring things out (only difference between 22 and 18-20 is that 18-20 isn’t expected to be an adult). I suppose Bee could just see Loona as really young and doesn’t see her crush on Tex as a threat.

She explicitly says that she loves that Loona doesn’t care about how freaky people think she is. Wish Bee wasn’t so blunt about that just because telling instead of showing makes the scene feel less impactful with little to no interpretation to be made. The show misses the central mysterious factor that Hazbin has with the clock and lacks subtlety that Hazbin has (such as Alastor humming Charlie’s tune). The scene would’ve been better if Bee sent Vortex to get them some drinks, that indicates a liking of Loona’s awkwardness without explicitly stating such which makes the scene more impactful

I'm happy for viz, but I don't really care about them involving celebrities. There's plenty of amazing VA's out there that aren't recognized for their talent. Having a show like this showcase them would be amazing.

I'll be honest, I never felt like Asmodeus was calling out Stolas as such. His lyrics and word choice make it seem more like he's impressed with Stolas. He refers to what Stolas did as, "The spirit of Lust," after all. It's Stolas who takes it that way, and because he's a POV character, that tone is what gets conveyed to the audience.
This is an interesting take. I don't think you're correct, but if you are, it would make for a pretty cool twist
The difference between Stolitz and Bee+Vortex is shame. Stolas feels shame when called out about his relationship but Bee and Vortex are happily together and Bee is the sort of person who genuinely does not care what other people think in the slightest.

What's actually going on here is a conditioned response from the way Paimon treated him and probably, as SC said, the Ars Goetia being incredibly stuck up. He has a knee-jerk reaction to being called out, and given he's basically been a doormat all his life, he doesn't stand up for them but retreats behind his menu. It's very much something a kid being scolded by their parents would do.
When I first saw Beelzebub, I thought she was fake but she's actually a very cool person. Quickly became one of my favorite characters on the show. Definitely loved her aesthetics and design. Absolutely loved the relationship between Bee and Tex. I just hope they don't ruin it just because of Loona.

He was voiced by a celebrity too and the trailer for season 2 I couldn't tell what he said but his voice sounded different? I donnu if fizzarolli will be like that too, his voice actor played him on two episodes but is hard to ignore that possibility given what we saw and that working with celebrities becomes hard to schedule around

@@Haphu15mmmm to be honest it depends on the person. Don't get me wrong, iglehart is famous, but honestly not at the same level say Kesha or Reedus in my opinion. Like, I actually never heard of him (don't really watch Broadway shows often) until helluva boss. So he'll probably be more available then those two. In short, because he's not as "popular" or known as those two. They even got fizzaroli VA back (cause it sounds like his VA in the trailer) . So I actually find if your more of a Broadway actor than a live action (or for VA you voiced A LOT or famous characters), your not as popular or desirable for hired.
Vortex is attractive, distinctive, and has probably the healthiest personality weve ever seen in the show, even compared to moxxie, Vortex is the most genuine and grounded person weve ever seen in hell. Add to that, being Verosica's hell hound is itself a status symbol. Hellhounds tend to reflect on who owns them, And being a pop star's hellhound makes him somewhat of a celebrity amongst hellhounds, so I dont think its far fetched.
Not to mention Verosica drinks beelzejuice, so Vortex may have met Bee through a business meeting. Plus both women are performers, so there are all sorts of situations that led to the hook-up

Actually really enjoyed the fact that the main cast don’t always swoop in to steal people from unhealthy relationships. Nice to see it’s a healthy stable relationship. She was far from a bi*ch - and was more considerate and caring than Luna in those scenes. Was just to have reasonable side characters that don’t need to be meddled with
I think one of the reasons we got gluttony associated with hellhounds is that in Dante’s Inferno the third circle of hell aka the gluttony ring, was the domain of Cerberus, the three-headed hound. Another interesting thing that I have no idea was intentional is that the domains thing is that it’s made of sticky mud that people get stuck into, the same thing that could happen in honey (heck, Cerberus wasn’t bribed by people in the past with honey cakes).
Another reason could be the folk tale symbolism of wolves as gluttonous beings. It's why there's a Big Bad Wolf in both Red Riding Hood and The Three Little Pigs.

* Satan (Wraith) likely as The Strongman (because we known he's ripped & has a work-out app)
* Beelzebub (Gluttony) as The Animal Tamer
* Mammon (Greed) 99% sure he's the Circus Clown (since he's face on the money looks like a clown)

I think the fact they made Beelzebub have the bee aspects was kind of clever as bees make honey in excess, her name has bee in it, and most depictions of Beelzebub have bug like traits, and with Beelzebub being a "lord of pests' further connecting Beelzebub as the 'Queen Bee' we see her as in Helluva Boss

There is another thing to point out about Ozzy:
While he shines a light on Stolas' affair with Blitzø and his words seem pretty hurtful to us and the denizens of other circles of hell, he revels in the affair and compliments Stolas for this step (again not exactly in line with how we or other circles would see it)
It might very well be that Ozzy and the entirety of Lust are atually getting off of this type of thing (both figuratively as well as literally) since the only info we have on Lust are from the restaurant which seems to be more of a meeting place for the denizens of other circles than it is a valid depiction of that circles lifestyle.

Seems to me like Bee is just cool with Imps and Hounds in general. The lack of other hell borns in her party could be less due to gluttony being the hell hound home ring and more due to other demons not wanting to be around their "lessers" .
Bee also described the party as a "small get-together" to Loona, so maybe she hosts bigger parties with a more diverse guest list often too, but this one was a bit more limited.

One of the things I rather like about how Beelzebub was depicted is that she IS definitely feeding off of everyone who is indulging in her party through numerous comments she makes (hence part of her song where she says "Keep making me that mother f**king honey", or her numerous references to how various partygoers "taste"), however she's opting to make that relationship with everyone Symbiotic rather than Parasitic. She legit wants everyone to have a good time, party it up, and indulge themselves beyond the point of excess, but she also is sincere in her desire for everyone to enjoy the experience.
What would be kind of interesting to know is if there is any kind of affect this feeding might have on her partygoers. There's not a whole lot of info to work off here so this is purely hypothetical, but I wouldn't be surprised if some of her partygoers may actually suffer some kind of short or long term issues from not only overindulging but also getting spiritually fed on. Now, this would likely be something that Bee can't really help and is just part of her nature as the Sin of Gluttony, and she may even try to throw the biggest parties she can to try and mitigate any harm or damage she may cause through such feeding (spreading it thin and thus minimizing damage), but she IS still a Lord of Hell and one of the Seven Sins, and I think it would be weird if there wasn't a darker aspect to her, even if that darkness is just in her fundamental nature.
I think there is a drawback after all there has been reference about rehab, like verosica and beezlejuice.

I didn't think of any drawbacks, but more just a mutual need where Bee needs these emotions to fend off other aspects of her own life, probably. That'd make her just as addicted to these parties as the people that joins them...!
But the possible drawback is absolutely a possibility and a clever catch. We do see the hellhounds swimming in the punch bowl literally foaming at the mouth, that can't be good to anybody!!
@Necessity4fun considering it implies hellhounds are native to gluttony they may have a much higher tolerance to Beetlejuice than imps or succubi. And loona being able to eat almost anything even blitz's blended up phone.
I also had this odd feeling that she was darker than she seemed. It's hell, it'd be pretty much impossible to be a 'somebody' if you weren't connected and powerful enough to keep the position. So her constantly feeding on others indulgence sounds like a decent idea. She does seem to be the nicest amongst the demons we've met so far, but that could be just because she's in a good and secure place. Cause we saw her briefly 'lose her cool' and then excuse it away with something like "I had one of my loonie moments" to excuse the sudden aggressive behaviour and revealing her true form.
It may also answer why she accepts hellhounds and imps at her party, because nobody else is feeding off them, so she might as well 'exploit them' while also giving them a good party experience.

I was actually really, really excited when I saw Bee's design the first time because I could *immediately* tell it was just- it's Vivzie's STYLE. There's a super fantastic video I watched many years back that talked about her style and the Die Young video and it is super neat to see how far she's come.
If you go back and look at DY and pause from time to time - there's a really neat back and forth on 'simplifying' and 'details'. In one shot, the main wolf character has all of her stripes in her stocking, the gold tooth, all of her earrings, every little detail, but in the next with a lot of movement, it gets made more simple. Maybe just three stripes and an earring. It's balanced well enough to save on animation time (and pain!) and hard to notice even on several watches.
You can see the progression of that same thing to here! There's more animators, more budget, so the simplification is less, but it does show. If you just kind of pause at random times, you can see how her hair is more or less defined based on what Bee is doing in that shot. The freckles on her face come and go (specially in far shots). How many blobs make up her tummy or hair.
It's really incredible and the whole thing just makes me stupidly happy to see. It'd be so easy to make Gluttony 'gross', as many people SEE gluttony as a gross thing to take part in. Having her be this energy ball and constantly needing and giving and bright and bubbly and friendly throws that old image for a turn. I really love it.
Also the mention of the different sins reflecting the different casts/rings? Holy bleep. You're spot on.
My favorite shot of Bee in the whole episode is the little pout she makes when Blitz is clearly out of control 7:38 . She's not just worried her party could go south, she's worried Blitz could hurt himself.
Two factors: Bee has a mother's instinct given the hellhounds' high population due to her fecundity; and she also acts as a production manager for Beelze-juice. Blitzo had the potential of spoiling her latest brew with his vibes.

As another artist, I 100% agree! She's the Queen of Gluttony! She NEEEEEDSS to be as OTT as possible. As for her weight/figure, it makes perfect sense to me, she's a high octane performer who indulges in all things fun, and it speaks less of just the food element of gluttony and a lot more the alcohol and drugs she consumes constantly. Gluttony feels to me a lot more like a Slaanesh cult than an all-you-can-eat fast food buffet. Just absolute excess in all things to the point where it becomes terrifying to us mere mortals

Both Bee and Ozzie are really good characters, this topic has been applied to both of them, they both want everyone to indulge in their perspective sin, one with consent and the other one is to enjoy. They with want everyone to do it out of their free will
I also have this idea that Bee is the "Odd one". Like when the seven have to meet up everyone is just like "Ugh, it's Bee..." So the idea of her dating a hellhound is shameful, but she doesn't really care.
Even if she didn't date a hellhound, Bee being a party animal would kill the formal nature of the gathering. I have a feeling she would hate gathering with the other Princes due to their buzzkill vibes (particularly Belphegor) and the Goetias would be hated even more with their stuffy formality. Bee is likely a black sheep of the Ars Goetia. If the seven princes do gather, they would likely do so in the Envy ring as Leviathan is gargantuan.
Honestly I think Lucifer and Ozzie would like Bee being around. Lucifer would probably find her energy and outspoken nature entertaining, and Ozzie would just find her a treat to be around with her uppity and slightly flirtatious personality

She could have just kicked Blitz out when she noticed his bad vibes, but she made sure Loona checked on him. And she throws parties for hellhounds, the lowest rank in hell and lets them indulge, rather than the rich people on top.

On Bee's design, it's ment to be excessive because that's her sin. Gluttony is overindulgence so her design is meant to show that and is beautiful.

After all, I can definitely see how Hellhounds could be related to Gluttony, due to how dogs don’t know when to stop eating.
Being in charge of Gluttony, it makes complete sense for Bee to not care one bit. She is indulging and doing what she wants. If she wants to date a Hellhound, she'll date one.

Also, Asmodeus never really criticized Stolas, rather he actually complemented him. Although it could be seen as sarcasm, I think the theory that the seven sins don’t really care, and the Goetia are the ones who are upset, seems pretty realistic.
Ozzie is a Goetia himself and if any of the other Goetias try to call him out he can pull his double whammy rank and do some "reminding".

Honestly when Bee was introduced I thought she was a half hellhound half insect demon hybrid that worked for Beelzebub; i thoughts she was going to be Beelzebub’s hellhound that was picked for the insect like aspect.
It was only on my second watch that I realised she was THE Beelzebub; because the idea of her being a hellhound working for someone else made more sense to me while she’s partying with imps and hellhounds

With Bee it makes sense for her not to dwell on things that are negative for too long. She indulges in what she likes or wants. Anything beyond that can easily be ignored, even if it can be a hinderance to her.
I think one of the factors that plays into it is that Bee is already seen as the crazy party girl (who the overlords obviously have some issues with considering her line about stealing Belphegors drugs or smth) so when she dates someone who is below her class it gets chocked up to “ah Bee is being crazy again” vs. Asmodeus (or even Stolas) who have a bit of seriousness/properness to them. I’m German we have this word called “narrenfreiheit” which means something akin to “Fool’s freedom”. I think Bee has some of that. I also noticed how isolated Bee is..like at the end of the day this was just a house party with the hell hounds. And it wasn’t even overstuffed or anything. It was crowded SURE but contrast it with Asmodeus’ constantly over-booked public club and yeah. Definetly gives me “everyone else doesn’t really care about me I prefer to slum it with the lower class, which I belong to on a technicality” vibes

I really love her design. She has her bee elements, and she looks like a fennec fox to tie her into the hell hounds, and she's a walking lava lamp cause she's a colorful party animal. She looks so fun.

Seeing this after the return of Bee with Kesha’s reprisal of the role gives me a little spark of hope for the future.
The show seems different, now, after the most recent episode and I feel like it has the potential to crank up to a fever pitch depending on the direction it takes after.
I have yet to see anyone express my headcannon for how they met- Vortex is Verosika's bodyguard, and both Verosika and Bee are performers and party animals! We've seen Verosika travel for shows, maybe she was hired by Bee to perform, or maybe she's just a big name so Bee invited her to a party, or maybe they just crossed paths at some high profile get-together. I imagine Vortex was working when he got to meet Bee when she and Verosika got to talk/interact, and I imagine it was Bee that fell hard. That's my guess anyway!
Heck Verosika could have introduced the two of them. The only time we see Verosika angry is when Blitzo is in the room. Which is understandable
If this were the case, I'd say they bonded over trying to get Verosika to put down the bottle. I'm imagining a scenario similar to Blitzo in the episode, resulting in Verosika's most recent trip to rehab while the two get to know each other
That’s an interesting thought. Though I personally always imagined it the other way around that Vortex met Verosika through Bee. I see it like maybe Vortex was getting comments that he was ‘gold digging’ with Bee and using her, this started to get to him, which lead him to search for a job, and Verosika was invited to one of Bee’s parties with her looking for a new bodyguard. You could guess the rest from there

I understand why people get confused about how Bee and Tex's relationship is vs other relationships in Helluva but at the same time double standards are a real thing. There are times I watch the news and become baffled at who gets away with what. I think Bee is adorable, I like the design as is, I think Tex is cool and I hope he and Loona stay friends.
3:48 - I think the reason everyone will judge Oz here is not for dating an imp, but because he acts as if lust was superior to love and yet he seems to genuinely like Fizz.
So his hypocrisy has to do with having a relationship that isn’t defined solely by his sin/source of power and influence.
Not just not defined solely by it: there are Seven Virtues which counterbalance the Seven Sins, and Love is the counter to Lust. Ozzy is indulging in what, by rights, should be emotional kryptonite to his office.
Since Bee already has two voice actors and the one signing posters is not kesha i think getting more of her in the show could just rely on having the second VA voice her
That makes sense, but with bee and strikers VA case in mind, does that mean that asmodeus is most likely to get a different VA too? He was voiced by a celebrity too and the trailer for season 2 I couldn't tell what he said but his voice sounded different? I donnu if fizzarolli will be like that too, his voice actor played him on two episodes but is hard to ignore that possibility given what we saw
@@Haphu15 Asmo has the same VA as Vortex, James Monroe Iglehart. He was also in the Hazbin Pilot. I think he's genuinely always down for it! Same for Fizz, it's been Alexander Michael Brightman for all the episodes with him in it as an adult.

@danpaz9485 I'm not the person who left the comment, but most times, I've seen gluttony in media. It's pretty much the same thing. Just a lot of fat and mouths and usually pretty low intelligence. Those designs aren't bad but it's gotten kinda stale. I absolutely love gluttony's design in helluva boss because you wouldn't immediately think she's gluttony but once you find out she is you realise everything about her design and personality scream gluttony in such a unique way she is genuinely my favourite interpretation of a sin I've ever seen

goodness... the idea that the Goetias are just the middle managers of hell makes their snooty "I'm better than everyone" attitude make so much sense... they're like the people who got promoted once and now they're flaunting their new power over their new underlings to make everyone else's life miserable because it makes them feel more powerful... and the more I think about that the more it makes sense since that explains why Stella isn't even slightly interested in taking money from Stolas in the divorce, she just wants to make him suffer because it makes her feel like she has more power and control than she actually has
You said that you don't think she's feeding off other people's indulgence, but I think she does, which might be why she gets very uncomfortable when blitzo starts drinking to dull the pain. Actual gluttony and indulgence fuels her while overdoing something (drinking etc) for a purpose is like poison to her
Caring about status and other people's opinion of your relationship sounds way more like a Pride thing than a Gluttony thing.

I'm surprised people are jumping to the conclusion that the sins actually care about this sort of thing, when so far Bee is dating a Hellhound, and Asmodeus is dating an imp from the same background as Blitz. The callout "Are you sleeping with an imp?!" doesn't even come from Asmodeus, he just kind of acknowledges what a scandalous thing that is in society, but in a super 'Atta Boy' sort of way.
For all we know, the bird demons and Paimon are connected to Pride in some way, and this plays a role in how much they care about things like status and respectability.
This!! I’ve been a bit confused as to why people assume as such when it’s literally this (or at least, this is one very plausible possibility, as nothing has been confirmed yet.)
The most recent episode really shines a light on the double standards in Hell's hierarchy. Its pretty safe to say Bee and Ozzie wouldn't have lifted a finger for Blitz if neither of them knew him previously. From the get-go, it's pretty clear they don't care about *all* imps and hellhounds just the ones they are close to. The hounds are forced into violent and cramped pounds, and Bee doesn't care to put a stop to it. Ozzie's workforce seems to be primarily imps, yet I'm pretty sure they aren't treated as anything more than tools. Bottom line, those at the top don't truly care about those on the bottom unless it directly affects them.
If I'm not mistaken, the controversy of the relationship between Fizzaroli and Asmodeus is more related to what he said to Moxxie and Millie, he said that their relationship had no lust because of the romantic vibe, but then he and Fizzaroli appear being romantic.
I think that it should also be noted that most residents of hell know that the Goetia family arranges marriages WITHIN the family. Stolas and Blitzo might have a notable class difference, but the fact that Stolas is hooking up with anything but a Goetia family member is something worth pointing out.
The Goetias act like a lot of royals in history-they would turn to incest to keep the common blood out if aristocrats are not an option.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but when Beelzebub was getting the hate for her design someone did mention how she was more wolf then bee. Viz responded with that she was the animal trainer basically. During her song she flew through a ring as well even further symbolizing that she is supposed to trian the animals. So it does makes sense that she would be more like chill with Hellhounds or other animal like demons
it can make sense narratively but that doesn't change how the people view the design. its mixed like some hate it and some are ok/love it.

At first, I was kinda disappointed by it but now I have gotten used to it and appreciate it more.
Compared to the other sins, which isn't a lot, Bee is closer and more in touch with her subjects. Even more so than Ozzie, with all his razzle-dazzle, glitz n’ glam.
She honestly gives off Dionysus vibes, a deity that attracted those of the lower class, and her hosting skills remind me of how the ancient Greeks threw parties and treated guests.
A theory I had was she took a lower class/beastly look to be more approachable for her partygoers and subjects. But Viv’s explanation makes sense, which fits into Hell being similar to a Circus troupe and the Sins being reminiscent of acts and occupations. Lucifer the Ringleader, Mammon the Clown, and now Beelzebub the Beast Tamer.

Beelzebub might actually be feeding off the gluttonous behavior at her party, she even comments near the end of the episode that she can taste the "flavor" of people at her party. my theory is that all of the seven deadly sins "feed on" or gain power from the denizens of their respective rings. maybe they originally created the native species of their rings and their cultures so they could gain more power.
this also clears up something from the other series that , looking back, didn't make sense otherwise. why would Lucifer allow the sinners to gain power and become Overlords if he wasn't benefiting from it? what if the arrogance from gaining power on the level of high ranking demons, their pride, makes him stronger.
The sins being sustained by, or gaining power from their respective namesake, actually sounds like an interesting ability and idea.

Bee and Tex are SO cute together. I love how Bee's design and personality doesn't reflect how people think the queen of gluttony would be like yet still work so well with the concept. Really hope we could see more of this couple in the future ep.
If you think about it, the seven princes would only ever be dating their lessers unless they date each other, which is a very small dating pool. The Goetia and general royalty have more options amongst each other, so going for an imp seems much crazier. I feel like for the princes, no matter who they date, it's all beneath them. So maybe they care far less about it for themselves.
I think Ozzie was called a hypocrite was because he was hating on moxie for being lovey dovey while doing the same with fizz (coddling him after he got jumped by Millie) but, that’s just a theory of mine 🤷

Honestly I kind of love the vibes with Beelzebub, specifically how she’s kind of over designed but I feel like it was intentional since Gluttony is about self indulgence. It kind of reminds me of those old sparkle dog ocs honestly, which are usually made just to look cool.
my headcanon is that bee is already super transparent about everything so there’s no point in ‘exposing’ her relationship.
Literally the only problem I could ever find in Bee and Tex as a couple would be his "cowering" when she transformed and was about to fight Loona, as it could be read as Tex not being able to do anything against her due to the huge power imbalance inherent in their respective statuses.
However, it just as easily could be interpreted as Tex simply being uncomfortable about his girlfriend and his friend fighting, or even because he seemingly convinced Bee to invite Loona and now she and her father were causing a scene and ruining everyone's night and making passive-aggressive comments to the hostess and ruler of the Ring, which might have got Vortex in hot water with his girlfriend. All in all, perfectly valid reasons as to why he'd be apprehensive during that scene.

luckily i dont think thats likely considering how considerate and apologetic she was afterwards, my take on that situation is that he knows bee was in the right there because loona was picking a fight for no good reason aka jealousy but at the same time like ya said his girlfriend and friend is fighting so its a hard situation to be in, hopefully their relationship doesnt become toxic in the long run theyre so cute 😭

Eh almost no one, Sins are typically ranked in terms of power based on how evil their sin is, often with the worse sin being stronger, meaning Satan, Leviathan and Lucifer probably could talk her down. Bel obviously won't because she's Sloth and thus doesns't have the energy to give a shit.

I think Ozzie being called a hypocrite has more to do with how he praised lust over love, while at the same time genuinely caring for Fizz. I don't think anyone would bat an eye towards him if he just treated Fizz like a boytoy - it's the fact that he does actually love him that makes him supposedly hypocritical
As an artist who is plus size irl, let me just say that drawing bigger people isn't as easy as you might think. Your brain is constantly trying to correct you by subconsciously reminding you about basic body proportions. Yes, it's nice being represented. I've tried drawing myself with my real body proportions many times, but it just doesn't look right. I'm very secure with who I am, and what I look like, but if I'm going to draw myself, I'm going to give in to my artist brain and draw what looks right.
Depends which kind of bigger people we are talking about. Mostly the sexy model, with big butt and chest is pretty decent to mind, so it won't be too troublesome... at least if the whole show weren't with slim characters that have similiar body types, so there is no way to draw other ones

I really like the “over designed” characters. It’s something you never or hardly ever see in a because how difficult and expensive it is to animate especially in indie and cheaper cartoons. It makes me appreciate every single episode these animators put out.
There are so many cartoons that have family guy like animation styles I don’t even give the time of day. They may have a great and funny stories but they are so bland and uninteresting to look at.
I really love the concept of two different animated shows taking place in the same universe. Very interesting concept with Heluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel. Makes the universe feel HUGE.
Tbh, I kinda agree with you when you said we might not get to see any more of Bee. But I honestly think if they cast the voice actress who actually sang the song, we might have some hope in seeing her again!
Weird stretch here, but Bee strikes me as an heiress/nepo-baby in her behaviors that we've seen.
She seems, honestly, nice. But she is also actively involved in things like signing off on hellhound adoption.
I get this feeling that she might be a second generation ruler of Gluttony. Like, all of the terrible systems that harm the hellhound population were set up by the previous generation. She was raised around it and finds it normal. So, now that she is the ruler, she throws parties and has fun. She is genuinely kind, but also doesn't understand that the system she is controlling is fucked up, because that's "just how it is."

is it possible she doesn't even know how bad things are? I mean, it's not unheard of for servants to lie about the state of things if they either 1: believe all is ok or 2: think it's somehow beneath their ruler to be bothered with such things.

Watching Vortex nodding and smiling when near Beelzebub was so cute and wholesome.
I get the vibe that the sins can do whatever they want because they are untouchable. A goetia can be replaced with another goetia, hence the "precautionary heir" thing. But there's no successor or heir to a deadly sin. Also the goetia know they aren't on top, and have to fight to maintain their image and prestige. So a threat to that image is much more impactful.
I honestly love their relationship so much, It's so cute. Also Beelzebub is now my fave character in the show next to blitz. I'm just so sad that we're probs never gonna see her again, cause like u said. Kesha. But who knows what they have planned. But seriously I love this ep so much and cotton candy is such a banger. The ending was so sad though, except when blitz threw up lol
That last barf gag honestly makes me bust a gut every time I rewatch it. I dunno, it just makes me laugh
If they do keep her throughout some episodes they’re probably going to have somebody else who has a related voice to Kesha to voice Bee, but I’d hope that Bee will be in more episodes throughout season two maybe.

I am loving the Vortex x Beelzebub pairing once I found out Bee wasn't a stuck-up jerk. I'd love too see Blitz and Stolas show up as a couple in gluttony, as I think they would be treated better.
I like that he brought up Lucifer's circus because in that Bee's role is quite literally "Animal Tamer/Talent". Which also fits with her fox like appearance and rings she flies though in her set but I think more importantly explains her relationship with the hellhounds and imps, as well as why her party is almost exclusively made up of them. Her role in the circus is animal tamer, her job as one of the 7 rulers of hell is to keep the lower classes placated and complicit against the system that's oppressing them. If they are happy and distracted with booze and party's and drugs they have no reason to recognize and unite against what actually causes them harm. Now I do think Bee legitimately cares about them and thinks of them as her people, seen as her dating Tex rather than someone closer to her in class, she as seems to really care about everyone at her party having fun and being safe. The main thing she's doing the whole time is checking on ppl, shes clearly conseened for them, even in her song she references "what you want, not what need" implying she's aware of this dynamic. But yeah those are just my thoughts on this
6:04 You know, Gluttony is actually a pretty accurate sin to align to canids. Wolves can't register their food intake as well as other animals, and will typically eat to their limit whenever they get the chance simply because its hard for them to feel full.
The line about the Goetia being middle management made me wanna draw one of the Sins telling Stella that “purple is for royalty dear,not middle management”
I think the reason they bash Stolas and not Bee is because firstly, if they did, Bee might just obliterate them as she’s the queen of gluttony and could, but since Ozzie is higher than Stolas, he can’t really do anything to stop him. Also it seems Bee is also pretty well liked as she throws pretty good parties and supplies food and drinks, but it’s shown that Blitz has a pretty terrible relationship with everyone he’s been close to.
People saying Bee should have been fat are really telling on themselves. It wouldn't have been good to equate self-indulgence with fatness and you know people would have complained if she *had* been fat. She's probably someone with a crazy high metabolism who burns through calories like crazy which kind of makes more sense for gluttony, in my opinion. Someone who can indulge excessively and have it go nowhere like a void.
The lava lamp stomach is that void, basically. It burns anything and everything she consumes, resulting in her never feeling satisfied and always wanting more, on top of her never gaining weight because of it. If there's any sort of satisfaction she gets from consuming stuff, it's only temporary.
Mmm, the sins are often designed to represent both the sin and the consequences of it. Lust is often denied meaningful relationships, wrath turns upon its own, pride goeth before the fall, ect. Gluttony's classical interpretation due to the standard usage of the word is overeating, therefore becoming fat and repulsive fue to overconsumption.
In this interpretation the sins do not seem to represent the consequences of those actions, thus the standard design would be unfitting

Given that Bee is the princess of gluttony and based on how quickly she was trying to form a positive bond with loona, I don't think it would be to far of a stretch that Bee wouldn't be against the idea of a polymoris relationship with her, tex and loona. It would certainly be interesting if she started testing the waters to see if a relationship between the three of them would be possible.
If nothing else she definitely respects that Loona was willing to throw down with even the likes of her over her dad. I suspect the number of people who are willing ot square up even when she goes full sicko mode are the other seven sins, lillith, charlie, and... only a handful of angels.

Food for thought (gluttony pun), but Bee might not have the best intent for Hellhounds. She states that she feeds off the energy, which could be a way that she makes her honey/Beelza-juice. If the energy is not joyful, wild, and energetic, it doesn't make good honey. Let's not forget that she also signs off on Hellhound adoptions, so parties could be a way for them to indulge and make poor choices to keep the pounds full. Lots of fun theories to think about. Also have you noticed that all of Vortex's friends call him Tex, even Verosika, but Bee calls him Vortex? Just some food for thought (more gluttony puns).
Fecundity is also inherent in her being an aspect of gluttony. If Bee herself doesn't emulate being a queen bee in a certain aspect, hellhounds would be the fecund species.
I don’t know, the start part does sound neat but not exactly evil. Though I just can’t bring myself to imagine she actively involves herself in the whole hellhound adoption thing, it just doesn’t seem like something she’d want with all the bad vibes it would give off. Not to mention that it feels more like something she’d entrust to her someone else to handle while she just indulges in her fun. Also the whole ‘her calling him Vortex’ thing could be something like she does need a nickname, like while others only see parts of him she sees all of him with her seeing it as a wholesome thing making her relationship with him more special

Commoners dating high profiles in Hell seems to be a pretty common pattern in these Vivziepop cartoons, And some of the pairings so far seem disfuctional and even toxic but it seems like the overlords don't care because it could be that they think as long as whomever they are with makes them happy then it doesn't matter what anyone else in Hell thinks.
Sure some of the overlords care more about their reputations than their relationships but what happens to either one is entirely up to them.
