Speak For Yourself debates: 50 young people from 3 cities. Birmingham, Walsall and Coventry.
This was a joint 6 week programme between ConnectJustice, the Birmingham City University School of Media and F5 to equip 13 -18 year olds with the skills they need to get themselves heard. Over 5 weekends, young people were trained around i) developing argument ii) developing counter-argument iii)using social media for campaigns iv) developing debates on current social and political trends and events and v) light tough media training. On the final weekend, all the young people gathered in Bham City University's media studios to debate and be filmed by putting the learning into action. This was all filmed in the 4th largest studio in the country and the debates were hosted by former BBC journalist Professor Diane Kemp. Participants debated four different topics in front of live TV cameras, putting their new found skills to the test. Hear the For and Against propositions made by the young people.
