But then there is also a flip side to all this and there are occasions when things don’t go the way we plan.

HIGH QUALITY RASIKAS. Rickshaw puller waiting for English note from Madurai Mani Iyer & the Petromax light carrying person appreciating Karakurichi Arunacalam's Karaharapriya . Recalls my Mother: She was just married & was eager to listen Mani Iyers concert at Kapali temple. My maternal uncle (Her brother) firmly said,"KEEP ALL YOUR JEWELS AT HOME & COME" The audience demanded for EPPO VARUVARO after the english note which the legend readily obliged. GREAT MUSICIANS NURTURING GREAT RASIKAS. GOD BLESS YOU GAYATHRI MADAM.

Absolutely delightful episode!! I totally agree that performing concerts in settings like rural areas can be very challenging but you seem to have managed brilliantly. I was also very moved by the respectful attention you got from the audience at Latvia who knew nothing about carnatic music. In contrast the so called knowledgeable rasikas back in India don't always show such respect to the performers. Looking forward to your next episode.

Interesting anecdotes shared. Pazhani experience in my view is one way of looking at it as total surrender to God. Good that you switched over to folk Kritis which would have kept the people somewhat involved.
Neraval is indeed a fantastic point brought out. The beauty of the Neraval lies in the lines / phrases/ words being picked up by the vocalist.
Twelve and a half minutes make the episodes an easy listening.
