- What to Expect: Driving Canada's ALCAN highway, also known as the ALASKAN HIGHWAY
Although there are many incredible national parks like Banff and Jasper, huge hot springs and quirky stops like "The sign post forrest" ... in this #short we simply cover the basics of what to expect during your drive.
Expect wildlife: Buffalo / bison, moose, caribou (reindeer) porcupine, dall sheep, black bear and even grizzly.
Expect: Gas prices to go up! They charge by the liter and the prices are posted in cents, not dollars so it will look different than you're used to.
Gas stations along the Alcan /Alaska Highway are really spread out. How many are open will depend what time of year you go at.
This video will be applicable whether you are driving through with no stops or taking your time 👌
Safe Travels!

I would rather spend 9 minutes understanding the excitement of your life than 41 seconds
We'll make some longer videos coming up soon, but youtube only allows their "shorts" to be 1 min. Glad to know there is interest for the longer ones aswell!
A well concise video of your journey, thanks for the advice
Thanks! Planning to go there this summer.
I saw stone sheep, Dall sheep, black bears, a marmot, caribou, bison and moose
But the moose wasn’t on the highway but it was in Canada
Manifest destiny to Alaska! Make it happen!
How recent did you drive through Canada? I want to make the trip this summer.
The last time we drove through was September of 2021! We do the drive about once a year since my husband is from Alaska. Beautiful drive!
something about alaska creeps me out but i want to drive through there sometime
❤❤❤❤
ROADDD TO ALASKA!
How much is gas?
#goals
Question 🙋♂️ Do you need a passport for this awesome journey!!
It helps! But we've had friends get through with just a drivers license/birth certificate
@@LKseims thanks for the response 🙏
I'm planning a trip to Yellowknife so that's good to know!🎉
Just ask, ffs. “Question” and “Quick question” make the annoyance of being asked questions exponentially more annoying. Use Google
@@cruisepaigewhy are you so mad? They didn't ask you so hunker down
I will be pursuing this expedition in a few months, however instead from Seattle.
That will be such a beautiful time of year to drive up 😍
This is when you need a 200 gallon fuel tank .😊
4 hours with no gas? That’s not good I feel a lot of cars would run out of gas
We definitely had a couple close calls! It doesn't hurt to bring a lil gas tank with you, but it also depends what time of year you go (a few more gas stations are open in summer)
I wish gas was 1.54
Trump2024
That's per LITER in Canada
Lol $1.54/L is expensive for Americans? 😢
Yeeeesssss 💀💀💀 but it's been going up here too 😭
in europe if it would be 1.54 l it seems like for free@@LKseims
Thats 6 bucks a gallon. That's freaking ridiculous. We freak out here when it gets to 4$ a gallon. Anything over 3 is bad. Back in like 2018 we had gas that was 1.50 a gallon
@@AmericanIdiotPoliticsi mis 2018 😢
This is about the worst video I’ve ever ever seen about the Alaska highway. You literally mention nothing about road conditions. 😂 GoTTa GeT ThOSe ViEWs eh??
@ws6069 We actually have a full-length UA-cam video with a ton of info! (So maybe do 2 secs of research before leaving snarky comments on ppls vids?)
But the views are half the reason ppl drive this road so, yes, we made a short highlighting those.
Honestly I thought Alaska was part of Canada
